Well I believe they interviewed 30 people connected with the club. Did those people make everything up?What evidence? It was all the old stories rehashed. Please tell me what the killer blow was in this startling review?
What ridiculous statement. Here, try this sentence.“Proud” & “racism” should never be uttered in the same sentence. End of the day you want to be an Eddie lover go ahead.
However, Eddie has been the Center figure for AFL & racism over the last decade.
He should not be a president.
Funny you mention Dan Andrew’s, a lot of people asked for his head post 1st muck up. He did better on his 2nd go.
How many tries has the 22 year reigning president get? Let me guess, a million “cOZ hE HElPeD uS wHeN wE wERE A sTRuGglIng club” in the 90’s.
It’s 2021 move with the times.... or am I not allowed to have an opinion that goes against our lord and saviour Eddie McGuire?
Gee how good are other clubs feeling given they are off the hook, with all the AFL players I know and have known, it’s as bad as anywhere else
Making jokes about Black dicks etc is as Australian as any other joke but when you get a fu**en nut job like the “Prince” demanding a review - its now bordering on the ridiculous
Over it!

What did they say? Did they confirm that some players didn't appreciate Lumumba's nickname? What is the groundbreaking news, the final straw which caused Robbo to demand Eddie resign?Well I believe they interviewed 30 people connected with the club. Did those people make everything up?
Yep-cause white blokes in a footy club never get taunted about the size of their nob, their lack of hair, their abundance of hair, their red hair, their pale skin, their lack of muscle, their appearance, their lack of ability, their height, their egos..............Yeaaa you’re right it’s ridiculous. How dare he want to be treated equally?
What ridiculous statement. Here, try this sentence.
I am proud to say we have eradicated the scourge of racism from our football club.
There- proud and racism used in the same sentence. Just like Eddie did. Anything offensive about that sentence?

As a long term member, I have witnessed two Presidents make absurd and out right racist comments that quite frankly should have led to their resignation. Does it make them bad people? No. Does it show a lack of understanding and ignorance of indigenous issues. Yes.
I have also heard over 40+ years of going to the football EVERY clubs’ supporters make dumb and at times racist comments.
Take away the Presidential ’gaffes’ I’m at a loss to understand the systematic issues compared to any other clubs fan base?
Ignorant Presidents - Yes. Racist supporters - no more or less than any other club.
Doesn’t make it right, just wondering of the motivation of all of this Compared to other clubs.
I'll take that as a no.And I'm asking-for what?
Is it painful?I think for myself.
that maybe an overstatement, but “gaffe-prone” is an understatement. He’s not a work experience kid thrust in front of a mic for the first time. He’s had 3 decades on both sides of the media. He’s not dumb, blokey is his brand.bit of an overstatement. More likely the president is gaffe-prone with average IQ, not overly analytical, unable to form succinct responses and quite likely to make a bad situation worse.
IMO Eddie is not a racist - but he's very blokey and would fit well in a pub in the 1960s.
I have just posted that I think the bold was the main issue from the report for me but also it seems the board is/has addressed it.Apart from having an inadequate structure for dealing with complaints, it's hard to pinpoint exactly what Collingwood is guilty of. The salacious remarks are the opinions of the report's authors and the verified facts mostly already in the public domain. Not even an allegation of "casual racism" to be found.
Bit surprised at the number of people prepared to turn on their club at the insistence of a media vibe. I guess when the team falls short of expectations and supporters tire of the same old, they're more ready to accept such criticism. A kick the other way in 2018 and McGuire's legacy looks very different.
McGuire performed poorly at the presser, but he has an awkward history and the 'r' allegation is so damaging for people with a public profile. He was rushed and probably nervous. Yeah he can be a brazen hypocrite but I struggle to believe he fostered a racist culture with his day-to-day presence at the club.
The 'King Kong' gaffe was an absolute shocker in the circumstances, particularly after he had acted so decisively in support of Goodes' stand. An experienced commentator and media personality should never have made such an error.that maybe an overstatement, but “gaffe-prone” is an understatement. He’s not a work experience kid thrust in front of a mic for the first time. He’s had 3 decades on both sides of the media. He’s not dumb, blokey is his brand.
People turning on their club is a popular pastime around here Ron, I'm sad to say! I'm really disappointed by so much of what I see; when anything goes wrong the knives come out very quickly, and it tends to make me think that "outsiders" that have a low opinion of Collingwood people are perhaps not far wrong with that opinion!!Apart from having an inadequate structure for dealing with complaints, it's hard to pinpoint exactly what Collingwood is guilty of. The salacious remarks are the opinions of the report's authors and the verified facts mostly already in the public domain. Not even an allegation of "casual racism" to be found.

The report is vague, or only going over old ground. There's nothing groundbreaking and specific about it.
Phrases such as "systemic racism" are just fancy words, but lack any real meaning or substance. I guess this is all part of the redefinition of racism where it no longer covers just blatant or overt racism, but we now delve into phrases such as "systemic racism" or "unconscious bias" which are ill-defined terms but cast a stain over the whole club nevertheless.
My biggest worry is we're regressing back into a racialised world rather than a post-racial world.
If the club starts heading down a path of identity politics by seeking to fulfill diversity quotas and overcompensating for the past, then I'd stop renewing my membership in a heartbeat. Being on the bottom for a decade wouldn't deter me, but this would.
The authors also make me skeptical. Both of them are academics with a preconceived worldview where everything is seen through a racial lens. The outcome of the report was only going to lead to one conclusion once I saw their credentials.
I imagine they told their story. What did they say? Did they confirm that some players didn't appreciate Lumumba's nickname? What is the groundbreaking news, the final straw which caused Robbo to demand Eddie resign?
I don't know maybe I got it wrong but the main thing I got out of the report is that there have been complaints about racism and that they haven't been handled well. The club obviously saw this and has made changes to address it.
I don't see it as making sure we have X% of indigenous players or staff at the club.
I also don't think it just over the period of Eddie's Presidency and that he alone is the main culprit.
Anyone that believes racism doesn't exist must not have sat at a game at Vic Park or when the Rocca brothers were playing or any other player from a non Australian background. Also it isn't just our club, Richmond is an example last year and Houli both at Essendon and Richmond has copped it. We just happen to have a high profile President that on many occasions speaks before he thinks. I am sure there are many other examples.
