Yep I said this after he resigned that he will never get the same support from the top right down to FD that he got from us. He' setup for failure IMHO and I'll have no sympathy for the bloke.

honestly, i agree.

Dimma's biggrest strength was he was a connector of people, passions, ideas.

For that to thrive you need smarter more talented people around you. During 2016-2020 we had that in spades on & off-field.

There will be no expense spared though for him to build the Suns coaching team. The soft cap will magically open likes Gils buttcheecks to more investors in new markets

anyhow, the way the soft cap is going Hardwick was taking a huge chunk of that. Never seen a Richmond coach actually step down. Die on his sword.
Resigning rather than being sacked means Hardwick has freed up our soft cap. Pretty noble act I my book
That's all wrong and a myth.

It'd be good and bad news if Dimma went to the Suns.

Good news - one less team competing with us in the market for the best available coach. Suns probably the least detestable and least threatening option insofar as other clubs are concerned.

Bad news - potential of Dimma to lure one or more of our assistant coaches north.
Totally different situations between GC & Richmond

GC are looking for an established proven successful coach to take the club to the next level
Hardwick - Scott - Hinkley etc

Richmond a more established club with a successful culture and administration looking at the next Hardwick with possibly
Mini McWalter , Carr , Yze , Leppa etc

Very good chance with the appointment of our next coach most of the assistants if not all will be replaced
I would think Dimma would be looking more at established assistants with the likes of Rutten/Teague getting calls to join him.

Only assistant id like to keep are Clarke & Lambert

The way the Suns have handled Dew sacking has been poor you don't treat people like that defend them give them false hope just to sack them a week later.
could be a warning sign to Dimma that this is how the club is run.
Dew did well to be a senior coach for 6 years and get paid for the 7th year for a coach thats never made finals

Bloody lucky bloke if you ask me

You win as we went from quite a few to a few. You're like our judicial system always right.:p
It was a pleasure to educate you. Have a great day. Because it was fantastic to see the same losers stump up year after year trying to credit the success to anyone but Dimma while Dimma won those flags (while the assistant coaches went elsewhere). If we revisited those threads, what side of history would you be on?

Im not certain. He would need to make finals, minimum.

I'd definitely be interviewing as if everyone is on an even par. Mini's results have got him a seat at the table now, whereas when Dimma first resigned - i don't think he was a very serious option, longterm.

For him to really get into the convo he needs to make the finals for me, mainly because i feel he is replicating what Dimma was already doing too much & I am not positive if he had all his own assistants (ie not all Dimma's old ones), he would be getting these same results. And there is no guarantee these assistants will hang about once the job is his longterm - many might prefer to be coaching under someone with more experience than them then, not less etc.

His results looks too much based on existing things VS anything new he is bringing that is worth investing in longer term. ITs a tricky one. But if he made finals, i would likely agree with offering him a 2 YEAR contract, nothing longer. Mini is not experienced enough to be getting more than 2 years. Has only ever worked at Richmond, only ever under Dimma etc.
Not sure what more he could have changed overall in the limited time he has been in charge but he made moves last week that many on here complained that Dimma never did which helped win us the game, he is currently 5 from 7 with one bad loss that we bounced back from and a 10 point loss to the team second on the ladder, I don't think finals at this stage will make any real difference, if they think he has what it takes he will get the job either way, of course if he goes all the way to a prelim or a GF then that will probably go in his favour.

Ohhh Ill be on you wagon only ill be caring the wip :straining::think:
I recall a couple days ago Rance answering to a question what turned his form aroubd to make him what he became Fact his answer Leppa I didn't hear him say anything about your mate shame that lol

They have a history of doing this regularly. Wouldn’t be big on the idea of coaching em.

No just pointing pot his record i guess some don't like facts.

Facts are we were a rebuilding team when we took over.

We were never winning flags in between those years.

Did support help Hardwick? of course, but suggesting it was all because of the support and nothing to do with Hardwick is simply delusional.

He made his name as a coach there. If the RFC wasn't the entity it is and stood by him in 2016 and support him with new assistants and programs behind the scenes which have been well documented; it would be a case of Who T F was Dimma?

I thought you where talking about Dimma the man, not the coach.

You should have qualified made him as a coach

I do not think we where ever contending until 2017.

Sure we made finals but no one believed until we won explaining the outpouring if emotion when we won

Well if Leppa has ruled himself out im going for Carr also

just thinking Mini is having the teague effect at the moment and we need an outsider
Agree outsider won’t come in with mates, mini does lol. Look forward to seeing the outcome.

So those 15 win season were a myth?

all the insiders that went elsewhere are struggling. Hate for that to be us

You think 15 win season is contention??

We where more in contention in 2022

Contention means winning or having genuine excuses. Not even sure which 15 year season you are referring to but before 2017 we where not in contention like we are not in contention this year

I dont mind Mini McWalter as a coach or what we have seen of him

Just thinking he has been around the group so long that its going to be a similar message with similar favoritism with some players and they wont be under pressure to perform to re establish their spots.

I suppose the people in charge will know and make the best call

I consider making it as contending, even if we were never winning the flag.

I think Dimma deserves a lot of credit for getting is from what we were in 2010, to finals in 2013, even if we lost to a team that didn't even qualify.
