Richmond and Geelong really need to hit rock bottom

I don't think young sides take more than 3 years. that is just an gutless excuse for failure. Collingwood are not much older relatively speaking then Geelong, and are in the grand final, and I think St.Kilda is just as young, yet nearly made the eight. Difference is, Geelong just don't have enough future champions on their list, or senior stars. Riccardi is nearly finished, Hen Graham is just an average player these days, players like David Johnson, Playfair etc haven't got the skill, talent or flair of an Xavier Clarke or an Brendan Goddard. (granted Carlton don't either but that's an different issue)
Until Geelong admit they are stuck in a repetitive cycle, I think they will not make the finals again in the near future (certainly next year anyway) and whilst Carlton will probably be near the bottom again, at least we can get early picks next year and take stock of our dilemma.

why wait until next year to take stock?

carltons idea of drafting is opening a cheque book.

sure david johnson and playfair may not same skill and talent as x. clarke and goddard i think that ablett and scarlett certainly do.

plus fraser and holland (90+)
and a number of player in the 50+ bracket.

the majority of the currentt geelong team has played under fifty games. in two years time geelong will be in a similar position to collingwood now. They will have players like scarlett, ling, king and ablett who will be amongst the top players in the league and be supported by a number of very good solid players who would have 4 or 5 seasons under their belt (corey, harley, kelly, s. johnson, mackie, chapman, enright etc.) they will be a well balanced unit that would have developed together and all be around the 25 year old mark.

geelong have already taken stock and are building a very good young list. they haven't gone for top up players like richmond and haven't ignored their drafting like carlton.

geelong will win a premiership before carlton make the finals.

A statement like that shows you dont know a great deal about footy. Clubs, whether it be on the field or off the field, cant just get rid of everyone and hope that everything will magically come good. Get real for goodness sake.

Does a small business sack its entire personnel if it doesnt make a large enough profit? Hell no! It improves its processes, improves the work environment etc etc etc.

Your sense of logic is astounding. Two players - Doug Fraser and Alex Lang were suspended for 99 matches each in 1910 after being found guilty of accepting a bribe to play poorly. Doug Fraser was in his first season and hardly indicative of the club. Alex Lang was in his fifth season and returned in 1916 when his suspension was over. In any case, Carlton are not convicted match throwers, Doug Fraser and Alex Lang are.

Don't let the truth get in the way of a good story though.

Note to others: This sort of post is indicative of what we say we when we accuse people of kicking Carlton. They are inaccurate and spiteful. Yet, a lot of people around here have the gall to accuse us of whinging about kicking. I don't see anybody having a go at idiots who post this sh*t.
