People who reckon Krakouer is of equal value to Brown are kidding themselves. One is a KP albeit an inconsistant one. The other can't get a regular game for a team that didn't make the finals. Small forward is never the same value as a KP, especially if they average 5 kicks a game.

This year the "Anvil" has been consistent - consistently bad

Hold on, hasn't everyone agreed that the proposed deal would be weighted in North's favour by a considerable margin?

I am simply stating that Brown is worth more than Krak. And I don't even rate Brown.
None of you get it they gave us Jade Rawlings already so we are getting Rawlings, Brown and Pick 37 for Krakouer and Pick 8. Thats why the deal is a winner we get 2 players for nothing.

Hey Hang on a Sec, Rawlings retired and is our Assistant Coach, so what we get an average player for a gun First Round Pick and a speculative 3rd Round pick for Krakouer.

This deal if it went through would be like a bloke getting ******* at a club and going home with a chick he thought was a Paris Hilton lookalike and waking up next to an Oprah clone.

I think you need to lie down.

Hold On Brown for had an ordinary yr and so did Krakeour.

Staright seemed Fair.

Brown is at least Key Position.

Krakeour is a small who had a nothing year and aside from his Family name has little actually going for him.

Brown is very unlikely to leave North because his perceived value is a lot higher at north than his actual value. I doubt he would be let go for anything less than a 2nd rounder and I doubt anyone would offer that much.

Christ, Brown was taken too early in 1999 and no one has re adjusted his value since. People reckon Collingwood supporters are OTT about Tarrant’s value. At least he can play. No one will pay a decent price for Brown becuase he has played 7 years with about as many decent games.

But look how..........tall he is.

Problem is that he gets picked every week every year so he seems to be valued at North. The chance of anyone else valuing him enough to pay what peopple inside our club seem to think he is worth, seems pretty slim. Not a word normally used in the Brown context.

He's played very well as a forward, back and occasional ruckman, but not that often. If another club could get more consistency out of him, they'd have a good player and good luck to them. Do coaches still fancy themselves as being able to make over underperformers? Or is it just a North thing?

We took on Pat Bowden last season and that worked out so it may encourage us to try it on with others. That would be where we are coming from with the Polak interest.

If that deal went through Punt Road would in all likelihood be torn down. Just because you got ripped by the Hawks and everyone has previously ripped the Dockers does not mean the Tigers are that stupid. I suggest that anyone other than Roos supporters that think this deal is fair needs to be tied down in a straight jacket and heavily medicated.

Don't you understand what has been written? We all agree with you. Even the Roos supporters.

Miller on SEN said that if they were to get Polak they would need to let someone go who was on similar money. I guess that would mean there isn't much room on their salary cap.

If they were seriously looking at Polak they would probably be looking at off-loading some player that is on reasonable money.

Again, no-one has said that it's a fair trade. You are having a pretend argument with people that don't exist about things that were never said.

Have a strong drink and lie down. All this thinking will hurt your head otherwise.

No wonder they want to free up that $250K x 2 years that Krakeour is getting. This may be why they want to sweeten any deal with draft picks. There may be more to this draft proposal than meets the eye.

Good summary of the situation. That's why we are unlikely to get anything for him - our asking price will be too much.

Same with Perry - we rate him higher than what anyone will offer. We have to be realistic - the facts are he wasn't getting a game in a side that finished third last.

The same thing with Everitt. If he's really so valuable, the Hawks would offer him more than a 1 year deal. They are (quite rightly) offloading a guy who a) doesn't want to be there and b) only has 2-3 years of football left in him. The Hawks have obviously been prepared to sell players for draft picks over the last 2 seasons, and getting something for a player that old is good sense.

Don't wait for the players to be proven hacks - sell them when they still have some value, and get a good market price (Man U does this well - Beckham, Van Nistelrooy etc).

North should do this with Brown - realise we won't get an early 2nd round, but get something for him... cause he really is useless.

Actually I am sick at present so not thinking entirely clearly but perhaps I got the wrong impression by you response on Page 1 of the thread.

Rumour is that Leigh Brown will be a Tiger by the end of the week. Wallet is keen to add some height and experience, and sees Brown as a versatile KPP who could fill a few holes down back whilst adding a bit of grunt to the Tigers pace brigade.

Expected deal is:

Kangaroos gain: Krakouer, Pick 8 for the loss of Brown, Pick 37
Richmond gain: Brown, Pick 37 for the loss of Krakouer and Pick 8.
BWAHAHAHA, that is the worst rumour i have ever seen, nobody in their right mind would trade a pleyer and a first round pick for a hack and a third rd pick. Nice joke though

I'm pretty sure we are running at the minimum of the salary cap (92.5%???) Which makes sense considering we have so many players under 21 yrs old. I think we are just trying to keep costs to a minimum as we have had a few bad years finanically (not to mention on field) and are just starting to record a profit.

The deal is a joke, i dont think anybody believes it, not to mention wallace has stated our 1st rd draft picks are off limits. Brown has more value then Krakouer who is ****e. Krak and 3rd round pick for brown would be more then fair.

So far we have seen rumors of the Tigers linked to 3 taller, cheaper priced, youngish defenders. Polak, Brown and Perry.

We have seen rumors of Richmond off loading Krakeour and Tuck to free up money, and draft picks.

I think there is smoke somewhere in there.

Anyone want to return sanity to this thread with some reasoned speculation?

Why does everyone persist with the thinking that trades have to be fair?

It's the rules of trade week. Both clubs need to agree on it, the player(s) need to agree on it, and some random Hawthorn supporter needs to agree on it.

This entire thread is hillarious, and I thought we over-valued our players..

If Brown wasnt playing for North, he wouldn't be playing for anyone, and THATS saying something considering how pathetic North are lately.

It's a fair point you make although it must be mentioned that North/Richmond is what... 27-1 since the AFL came into existence?

What crap. I doubt you'll find any argument he had a bad year, but he is far from done.

Played 23 games for a club that got 13 wins last year. Obviously lacked fitness this year and was soft at the contest, but he can rectify that.

In the first half of 2005 he was being talked about as a possible All Australian full back after comprehensively beating Fevola coming off white hot form from the Wizard Cup, keeping B. Hall to a goal and having the better of Gehrig for most of the day in consqecutive weeks.

He is only 24.

Us getting pick 8 is a joke, but so is the idea of trading a 150 game, 24 y.o KPP for an inconsistent forward pocket.

Where do we sign?

The suggested trade is very ordinary. Richmond wouldnt even contemplate it.
In all seriousness, i think the following trade would be ok for both clubs

Richmond: Brown, Perry and Pick 21/37 (not sure which, maybe something in the middle).
North: Pick 8 and Krakouer
