On Channel 7TWO 1:30am Wednesday morning, for those who have Foxtel IQ, definitely worth recording. Probably the highlight of my life as a Richmond supporter, I will never ever ever forget this game.

Scotty Turner's 2 goals
Matty Knights 2 goals after long runs
Naish's snap from 50
Daffy's goal on the run from 50, then pointing at the Essendon players and saying "you're dead"
Matty Rogers goals in the last quarter

and Scotty Turners 2 big hits on Grenvold & O'Donnell

ahh the memories.

:)

Benny Gale playing the worst game of his life, so that Scotty comes forward.

Scotty was my favourite player. He is memorable in this match for 3 reasons.

1) His two goals.
2) Nearly killing Gary O'Donnell.
3) Notable absence of long sleeve jumper.

I am gonna TiVo the ****en crap outta this shit.

It was on a couple of months ago and I watched it then.

The crowd was amazing when we started to come back and then hit the front.

Listen for the crowd murmur when Gary O'Donnell gets some Scotty Turner chin music. Then enjoy as a jelly legged Grenvold looks for the number plate of the truck that just collected him!!

Your a champ for posting that :thumbsu:.

I do have IQ but with Foxtel Im hardly giving 7TWO and Go a look in so would have missed it.

About time I got a permanent copy.

One of my favourite all time games to watch. I love how we fight back spurred on by Turner going on the ball then burying O'Donnell then Grenvold in the third term. O'Donnell taking 2 weeks to get off the ground then 2 seconds to get off the stretcher only for Daffy to boom a huge goal within seconds of the re-bounce which set the crowd alight!

That game, and the 1980 GF, ultimate faves!

Did he play did he? :p

I remember he had that one kick, one of the little league half time players could have kicked it better, and the bronx cheer that followed!

I also remember the bloke in the crowd with the yello billabong tank top, and the cigarettes!

Daffy, Rogers, DK etc were so young....what a shame we never pushed on.

That game has to be the greatest Richmond game since the early 1980s. The third qtr is a classic of the team and the Tiger Army feeding off each other. Essendon had huge numbers that day but might as well not have been there when we got our tails up. Goosebumps

Yeah I agree mate, I watched the Carlton final with great aniticipation and was suprised at how disapointing it was to watch it again. Felt great at the time.

Scrappy game and full of blokes who became nothing for us.

i was there as well that day. i was 15 and sitting in the row next to the Essendon Cheer Squad. Growing up in Essendon half the cheer squad went to my high school so it was a very satisfying second half when we ran over the top of them. Good times.

Ian Robertson with this classic line as Matty Knights has taken a couple of bounces and Wayne Campbell calling for the ball and Knighta ignores him to slot the ball through for a goal.....Robbo " This i'll bring the house down ".....I still get goosebumps everytime he slots that goal and the roar of the crowd....:D

I was there with my stepfather who was an Essendon supporter. Great game, the stands nearly lifted off the pylons when Naish kicked that goal on the snap.

I'd forgotten how good Knights and Campbell were.

Funny about interchanges "Prescott came on at half-time"

What about the scragging after the mark, would be 50 metres every second of the day now.

I always wonder how far Richmond could have gone if Richo had been in that forward line. Without him there it came a bit piecemeal but somehow they managed to kick a winning score. Obviously, Benny Gale's game was one of the worst games of all time but he imagine he and Richo firing together.

Also, Jamie Tape - he would slot straight into any modern day team, clean with his hands, hard at the ball, good runner.

Bourke was a spud.

Greg Dear was impressive.

Good stuff though.

Shame it all fell to pieces next year, and the year after, and the year after...
