Clearly we disagree iitb, lets see how Polak goes in 07 and into the future.

As I said I dont see much in him and suspect the tigers have made the wrong call and will pay for it over the longer term.

US, it's ok for us to disagree. If you cast your eye over these boards you will come across many threads stating the tigers are in trouble due to lack of KPP's. Now we go out and find one which is ready made but needs a little tweaking and still get criticised for it. Polak can play, no doubt about it. Attitude can be fixed. Look at fevola. The kid is 22 years old and if we get his attitude right he has 10 years ahead of him as a key member of our lineup. Our options were to pick up a decent kid at pick 8, wait for him to develop in which case there is no guarantee, stick with kellaway, hall and gaspar and go nowhere fast.

I think polak is a great pickup pretty much for nothing.

Draft / #8 / #13

2005 / Jarrad Oakley-Nicholls / Shannon Hurn
2004 / John Meeson / Matthew Bate
2003 / Raphael Clarke / Brent Stanton
2002 / Luke Brennan / Byron Schammer
2001 / James Bartel / Nick Dal Santo
2000 / Daniel Motlop / Ashley McGrath[/CODE]

That's pretty amazing. Overwhelmingly in favor of Pick 13.

Will cost them big time moving from 8 to 13 imo, will be interested to see who they get and who they miss out on at the draft.
but if the drafts as good as everyone says it is there wont be much difference between picks 8 and 13 will there

Wrong way of looking at it. Its all relative. There are lots of good players in the draft and you might well get a good player at 13 but you might be able to get a star or champion at 8.

In time its likely you will regret missing out of the player taken at pick 8.

I see their being 8 standout prospects. Time will tell who's picked and how they develop.

i think the trade really suited richmond as it gave them a tall option at chb. releasing joel bowden who will destroy the third tall forward or flanker.now only if they could upgrade on gaspar....

Yes Pick 8 should be a better player than pick 13. Stands to reason.

The point here is, is whoever Richmond would have picked at pick 8 better than who Richmond will pick at 13 *AND* Polak.

I kinda figure the latter is better and, it seems so do more people here ( except understudy of course ).

Hines got runs on the board, confident he will call the right names come November.

Miller has more runs on the board, confident he knows what he's doing and will call the player we need come November.

In all seriousness, The Richmond Football CLub did what was needed, the got a ready made, young Key Position Player and will still get a first round draft choice.

Thats impressive.

If your still saying that 2001 draft was the "Super Draft" and this one is the new "Super Draft" then Richmond ended up with a developed pick 4, pick 13, pick 60 for pick 8 and pick 42, now thats great trading. :D

Polak will develop nicely at Punt Road, all the confidence in the world with the staff at Punt Road, and with Jade Rawlings (KPP Coach/Assistant Coach) and Craig McCrae(Development Coach) added he will get extra support.

While we were always going to say pick 13 was who we wanted at pick 8, Jack Riewoldt was the clear standout choice when TW and GM gave supporters a glimpse of their recruiting plans.

Polak should be a very good player, and Riewoldt is going to tear it up too.

The first hurdle has already been a success. Polak has already proven that he has been working very hard at training in order to get the best out of himself. He is currently number 14 in the NAB Training Points and rising. The psychological side of things seem to be ironing themselves out.

So far he is making great progress.

When you put it that way... WOW!

Well, if richmond can keep him away from the bolivian marching powder and get his head straight, he could be a very good trade.

Otherwise, lawrence Angwin anyone???

Seems to be training reasonably well, for what that's worth. No point speculating about him too much yet - if they're not on a "limited pre-season schedule" then everyone's "cherry ripe" at this stage of the year.

We'll see.

Freo had plenty of time for speculation....and he never showed anything. If they valued him at all they would have wanted more than a shuffle up the order 5 picks.

He makes Ray Hall look like Wayne Carey.

He keeps up with Richo 1 on 1 and held him to just 1 goal in our intra club match. I would be impressed at any defender who can do that from any team really.

Him and Richo were also the 2 best big men in the Nab training points, so work ethic has improved dramatically by the sounds of it.

He'll be fine, probably pick up of the year excluding Aker.

What were Richmond thinking????

Should be absolutely thrilled with their 4th round selection in Daniel Connors at pick 58 overal. True Freak of the Game! has the ability to take a one handed specky over the top of Aaron Sandilands!! A natural knack for the game...All other 15 clubs are should be spewing for not snapping him up with their first round pick....Easily the most promising player of all the 06 Richmond draftees. Awesome player and will be around for a long time!
