The ship has sailed, he is seriouysly looking and he is not invested in us. A culture killer - move him on at max return to the club.
Agree, he's a distraction and if we're having a rebuild and a clean out, then lets do it thoroughly and have as few weak links as possible and build strong from the start..

Here’s a (very) hypothetical: Rioli turns his back on Port and accepts our current offer. How do we react?
With mixed feelings at best.

I, and I assume like most others, have reacted with shock, disappointment, anger - in a word, gone through the grieving process, and are now looking ahead to life without him, and what his loss can bring.

I suppose you accept him back but with uncertainty. He would have to show his commitment on the field to be fully embraced.

We have played faff as an im and he has lost what made him a great outside mid.

He was a beautiful kick of the footy in years gone by - now hes rushed and butchers it.
He has never been a beautiful kick. Always been pretty high kick over an average distance. He is worse now but that comes with less fitness and Injury as well as being under more pressure. That said, he wasn't a bad kick either

I disagree - his i50’s in his first few years were sublime. He had a also had s great party trick where hed line up for a massive kick to ff and it would come of the side of his foot and lace out to a player 30-40 m out in front.

Now its all priddis flourbags out the back of the pack.

Hate to see him play for another side, but the club is rebuilding and will not be in a window of contention before Rioli retires.
He was drafted for 52, played in a winning premiership where he had some key moments, and because (not in spite of) the club supported him over the last couple of years, now has one of two outcomes; his services or a high draft pick. Had West Coast not supported him and gone the delist route, the club would've gotten nothing.
So, both outcomes are wins in my book.

If Willie is to look after his family, this is his chance. The average AFL career spans just 6 seasons, so if that is his goal, he needs to do it now and I don't think anybody should begrudge him that (especially as WC aren't contending any time soon anyway and could use picks).

Have to agree to disagree then. Better than Priddis kicks for sure but not damaging very often in my view

I don't like the idea of receiving the potential Amon pick. Rioli is twice the player Amon is, so it essentially gifts the Power a massive upgrade for essentially nothing pick-wise. Disappointing situation. I'd almost rather send him to Norf out of spite.

Actually Amon is twice the player rioli is.

I love Rioli.

But let's face it: he's dragged the club through an open sewer; benefitted from special treatment when a lesser player would have been delisted; and now wants to set all of that aside for his own personal interests.

So leave.

The club is trying to forge the next crop of players that will bring success. Having a "me-first" mercenary on the list will only be detrimental to the culture of the new build.

Rioli will be 28 next year anyway. Take the contract offer off the table and let him go to Port.

Tell Port that the price is nothing less than the compensation pick for K.Amon.

Turning a player with questionable commitment, history of off-field complications, that lacks fitness to be a midfielder, kicked just 14 goals in 13 games this season, with likely 3 seasons left; into (at worst) pick 27 and more likely pick 19 (before father/son bidding) would be a great piece of business for a club looking to the future.

The more inside he went the worse his kicking got. Like you said he was one of our better I50 kicks but post 2019 he's been horrible

There's been a little bit of talk doing the rounds of Kozi Pickett now possible wants a trade back to SA.

If that's the case then Port will go hard for him more then Rioli.

Either way I don't mind Rioli staying.
Know some wanted Rioli going for a pick 20 but let's be honest if Port are looking elsewhere then they never had intentions of offering 2nd rnd pick in 20s for Rioli so screw them

So basically it was PSD or we keep Rioli. In this scenario I'd rather us keep Rioli.

Why??? He doesn’t want to be here, he wants to go and has been going behind the clubs back for half a year to leave. ..

Sorry even if we get nothing its better than a dishonest, disruptive player on our list. We have more than enough problems than having to kid gloves him any longer

Rioli is a bit different though. Not good in the media and at the airport where they shoved a mic in front of him he probally felt like he had to say something when out on the spot. I don't think Rioli had much of a say on it. Most likely it would be his manager going something like "Hey Port are interested in you, they will offer you a lot of money on a long term deal" In that case he probally did warm to the idea and who could blame him. Port though are a rabble and an offer to Rioli can change quick if Kozi Pickett became gettable.

Doubt Rioli would of initiated contact with Port that's why his coming out saying his torn. I think once the contract is done Rioli would be 100% on board staying. Eagles don't just leave our best players out to the wolves unless we have too where Rioli gives us no choice and demands to leave. See what happens I guess now. We not getting anyone better in the PSD. Might aswell keep him if we can and no deal is met.

Like a lot on here, you're giving Rioli an "out".

He's not a 19 year old kid in the first year of his contract.
He's chasing the dollars.
Whether you agree with that or nor, let's not pretend he doesn't know what he's doing.
