I'm 2 pages behind, so it might have been said already, but I think it could be a bit naïve to think that a coach won't be able to get their way if they desperately want to get their spare on the ground for some reason. As usual, the AFL leaves a nice grey area open for exploitation.

If they were serious about preventing exploitation, there would be an independent medical assessment as the final arbiter, no-one connected to the club - apart from the player - should be involved in the decision.
ATO Doc has to sign off if a player subbed out for injury is to play the week after. Of course that doesn’t help if you sub someone off who is not playing well and wasn’t going to be selected the next week anyway.

The main things I don't like about the injury sub are:
- The way it has been announced last minute.
We've had months to finalise changes.

- If they don't step on the field they get a game against their name.
This is just wrong, they didnt play.

I'm not concerned about the premiership medal, I actually think we are a bit backwards on this and players who contribute to a certain % of game through out the year should get medals as they were part of the Premiership campaign.
E.g Missing out on GF day due to injuring yourself in the prelim shouldnt deny you of a medal.

How ever it is tone deaf to give the medical sub a medal if they are the only player on the list to not play but get one.

How Durdin is in the frame seems BS to me, unless injured, didn’t even make the cut for preseason games 🤷‍♂️. Others like Gibbo and Cuners surely ahead with of him if a late change
The bearded one is running with it. Be interesting to see if he on the money. At this point I would trust him before my club with our recent history of what they do with the 22 each week.

Don't give the AFL any ideas...
Week 2, your wingers get those quidditch bats from Harry Potter, will assist with concussion sub activations.

Week 3, every third disposal needs to be opposite hand/foot. Four new specialist umpires per match to monitor.

Week 4, no video referrals. All iffy goals decided by a dance off in the square.

Week 5, a lucky seat winner gets to make a new rule up just before the coin toss.

He said someone would debut. Then after Martin misses training says that person will debut instead of Martin. Wouldn't be granting him crystal ball status just yet.

Durdin for Martin is what I was told last night, it wasn’t something I came up with following Martin watching on today.
I gave a clue last night when I liked a post where somebody mentioned they thought the in would be Durdin. Whether it happens or not remains to be seen. Just passing on what I was told.

Who is this bearded one you speak of?

Martin & also Casboult didn't train today apparently.

Something something Captains run.

Any chance you'll share how your contact would have come by this info?

There is something about Martin that makes me wonder if he struggles to back it up, perhaps he gets pretty sore. He does player pretty hard and he's a quick guy so I can see how that may be. He will be brilliant one week and stuck in first gear the next. Hopefully we are aware of that and are just keeping him fresh.

McKay and Casboult to probably rotate between CHF and FF, if one is not 100% then they can play deep and stay close to home like Lynch did successfully for Richmond last year round 1.

It's weird but Richmond is the only multiple premiership team that I just cannot take seriously. Could be their history, their scrubby game style or their lack of star power across the field but I still think of them as an average football club. Maybe it will change in hindsight...

This attitude seems to work in our favour , we are a system based side and it gets results everyone plays for the team not themselves. I am sure some of our mids / wingers could rack up the stats like some mids do but in the end majority of it is meanlingless possessions much like the type of player Cotch was when we won the brownlow.

In saying that we have a multiple time coleman medalist, one of the best key forwards in the game , the best player in the comp , Prestia Edwards and Cotchin are very good mids, the most underrated ruckman in terms of impact around the ground with pressure and tackles ( not hit outs), one of the best backman in the comp (Grimes), one of the top 2 or 3 interceptors ( Vlastin) and the best rebounding defender in the comp currently ( Short). I think currently Geelong is the only other team in the comp that can lay claim to having as much "Star" power across the field.

Compared to the more recent dynasty sides if you look at Geelong and the Hawks they were similar a bunch of great players but certainly a lot of role players also, I think the Brisbane team 3 peat is a team that will never be repeated in terms of the depth or quality of the side.

Looking forward to the game especially given a crowd this time around. Should be a cracker totally would not surprise me if you guys got the win, streaks are made to be broken and you guys are building up very nicely to give this year a good shake. You have the talls to cover Jack and Lynch and your mids go pretty well against us, feel the difference will be our rebound off half back and the impact of the forward/mid rotations like Bolton, Lambert, Castagna and Edwards if the Blues stop them from impacting the scoreboard you will win the game.

Best of luck and look forward to seeing you guys in September
