In all honesty, surely we are winning this game easily even after our horror month.

The only doubt and it is a big doubt - at KP - in the 1st half both Port and GWS wiped the floor with us , Port were what about 50pts in front and if GWS had kicked straight they would have easily been 50 pts in front of us

Midfield just gets totally destroyed and the ball is continually in the oppositions forward line - that 2nd qtr against GWS is as bleak as it gets , Cats kicked 1 single goal courtesy of a 50 metre penalty and GWS could have kicked 8-10 goals it was total domination

What Geel need - is a bit of a liven up - a sharpen up - get a few athletic coaches and get some sprint work into them , i mean Cameron it was an effort for him to even move - there was no zest in him whatsoever

You might be onto something. Strong and good skills, plus some mongrel
If Willis can actually string games together... and good games at that, then I think he's worth a look.
But at this stage he's been able to do neither of those things for 2.5 years so I don't hold high hopes for it.

He has the x factor and something about him though that they may throw him a game at some point just for a look

Any of Willis, Clohesy, Humphries, or COS getting a game would be enough to add some intrigue this week as we continue this quasi 'rebuild'.

Hardie deserves one for persistence, but I think we all know there's not a huge long term future there.
Bizarre - I would have thought you pick the best player for the job right now. If that's Hardie, pick Hardie, if it's Clohesy pick him. Whether a player has got 5 years ahead of him or 10 years is irrelevant. After losing 4 in a row due to having a C grade midfield we can't afford to be picking players based on potential longevity.

Dude...I'm literally talking about intrigue and excitement. It's written right there.

I'm not a Hardie 'fan' or a Hardie 'hater', it doesn't really bother me either way if he plays or not.

I just back the coaches who would have a better idea than I would, and take confirmation bias from that on what I see when I watch the VFL.

I think it's obvious none of those players listed are the key to us winning games in 2024...but personally, I'd find him the least exciting out of that group in terms of intrigue over a debut.

Kobe Gryant - I'm not your dude. I was pointing out the absurdity of picking a player based on potential longevity rather than the best player right now when the goal is to stop the losses. I thought I made that clear.

I doubt Geelong has given up contending this year and gone all-in on a rebuild.

Dude - if we all did this we might as well shut down Bigfooty

Then don't reply to my post? It's got nothing to do what I was saying.

It remains to be seen if Hardie is that best player. The MC certainly don't think so, you've come to that conclusion by yourself and you're presenting it as fact.

We don't all know because we literally don't know what we don't know.

Give him or someone a crack. Win or lose either way we are getting smashed now aren't we?

Really poor list management decision last year to not retire Stanley and bring in a big experienced body to support Conway.

Has cost us 2 games now (Port and Giants).

Very sloppy.

To be fair stanley was happy to retire we asked him to stay so i blame the club not him. But it was a very poor decision not to try and trade in a better ruck on the market.

Regardless of whether Hardie deserves to be picked or not, the fact is that he hasn’t even been named as an emergency yet. It’s rare for our MC to promote a player without first naming them as emergency. Not that it never happens but it happens rarely.

That’s why I think Mannagh may be more likely than Hardie this week, seeing he was an emergency last week. Knevitt was an emergency the week before. With Blicavs out, I wonder whether they will consider him to add a bit more height.

Mannagh should play.

If Mannagh plays my view is we need to drop one of Stengle, Miers or Close. Which one goes? I think if Mannagh was at Carlton he would play every week and be kicking 1-3 goals a week but I do not think he is better that any of the 3 I have listed.

I wouldn't drop any of those 3, but rather tweak the current set up

Dempsey has been a bit up & down of late, so could easily be managed this week which would open a spot on the wing. With Miers being held over recent weeks & not having the impact we've seen over the last 18 odd months, move him to the wing in a role he played a bit late season and let him use his endurance to work over his opponent

That then opens a spot for Mannagh up forward, and never know what he may show if he gets there opportunity to work up the ground a bit

Miers certainly has the tank for the wing but I think to play wing you need to have a penetrating kick (does not need to be used all the time but needs to be in the arsenal) and Miers does not have that.

Show that he's a two-way player who can do more than jog through the centre square when the opposition has the ball?

We need to remember he's not a big bodied mid in the mould of Dangerfield, he's more of the Tanner Bruhn size mid

And yes he had 37 disposals on the weekend, but he's not getting 30 disposals every week - its only been 3 times in his 8 VFL games

Maybe the coaches just want to see other aspects to his game that he's currently not showing
Yeah, because our current mids are doing a stand up job. Give the guy a shot, no one's excepting the completed package. (Well I guess Geelong is). I'm sure Clark was a running machine and getting 30+ every game to earn his spot. Maybe he's shit and the club knows it but from the outside we sure as hell could use a guy who can get 30 and cleanly dish it off even if he lacks the two way running power, he could have a positive knock on effect. As it stands now we can't get our hands on it, and we're losing so bad that teams can finish us off in a single quarter.
