3 changes for mine ,
IN : Jamison Whiley Boekhorst
OUT : Wood Walker Carrazzo

Jamison is still our premier defender and has gotten through a return game for Preston .
Wood struggling a bit after filling in admirably , Kruezer now ready to resume his mantle backed up by Casboult .
Walker looks cooked and the game waits for no man , Carrazzo makes way for roughly the same reasons .
Reports have Boekhorst and Whiley stepping up at Preston so they come in to further build on our youth driven improvement .

Buckley Jamison White
Docherty Rowe Touhy
Murphy Cripps Simpson
Bell Henderson Yarran
Menzel Casboult Everitt

Kruezer Gibbs Curnow

Graham Armfield Whiley SUB : Boekhorst

I think Jamo will be touch and go... I'd keep Carrazzo in, solid game and is getting better each week! We still need old heads out there, we can't get ahead of ourselves. I would bring Boekhorst in for Walker, however, I'd prefer Boekhorst playing full games at the moment. If he comes in as sub that means he has only played 5 quarters in three weeks.

Someone has to make room for Whiley/Boekhorst/Holman if we're going to reward performances in the VFL.

So it's a question of which of the players in the 21 you'd omit ahead of him...
Short of suspension, why should anyone be omitted from yesterday's team?

I'm all for rewarding form in the VFL but not just for the sake of it. I don't think anyone had a game yesterday that suggest they should be dropped.

We have plenty of experience in the team without Carrazzo .
Carrazzo is very very slow now and Whiley would bring everything in terms of the contest and ball/man hunt that Carrazzo supplies , at a higher tempo .
There's no getting ahead of ourselves here , we are still miles off the pace but it's definitely time for the wind's of change ...

I know what you're saying but just because we won a 50/50 game shouldn't have us becoming complacent.........(that sounds odd given our situation)
One should always select the best team with the understanding of what the opposition will throw up.
I can't see why the taller, quicker Jamison wouldn't come in for the 190cm White, who would find it tough up against 200cm talls.

I think we really should be wanting to keep winning games with an eye to the future in this back half of the year.
I'm very confident with the kids we have and they're nothing like a squad of Lucas's or Bootsma's. They can take care of themselves and are thriving on the responsibility. Great time to keep feeding the future through.

I definitely get that point of view as well. I don't think White deserves to be dropped instead of Wood for instance but that would come down to our strategy. I definitely get what you're saying though.

I was more referring to dropping Walker for one of the kids who played this week as well. Don't think that's necessary just yet.

OUT - Gibbs (IF Suspended), Murphy (IF Injured), Wood (Omitted)

IN - Jamison, Whiley, Watson

I know, I know! We all think that Watson is not worth persisting with anymore. But after coming off a 6 goal game, he should be rewarded for his efforts.
Besides, we need to free Casboult up so he can fill in as a ruckman for Kreuzer when he is on the bench.
Whiley deserves a chance under Barker. He seems to be doing a good job in the VFL.
Jamison doesn't need to prove himself. If he is fit, he will perform well.

I can see Gibbs getting suspended and if Murphy's calf or quad is not good enough, there is no use in risking him. The Northern Blues need an experienced ruckman so Wood should fill in the spot.

B - White, Rowe, Jamison
HB - Buckley, Docherty, Tuohy
C - Graham, Carrazzo, Simpson
HF - Bell, Henderson, Yarran
FF - Armfield, Casboult, Menzel
R - Kreuzer, Cripps, Curnow
I - Watson, Whiley, Everitt
S - Walker

He doesn't deserve to be dropped any more than maybe Boekhorst may deserve to be promoted.

Unfortunately players being dropped makes it sound as though they're not worthy as opposed to rotating for suitability.

Serious? I thought Carrazzo played a ripping game yesterday?

If we want to climb the ladder this is a must win since melbourne now have an eight point buffer on us

I've been critical of carrazzo but don't think he should be dropped. Played a good game, is still one of our vocal on field leaders.

We have enough inexperienced players in the team for development. No need to promote whiley or Holman just yet, besides one of them or boek might get a run anyway if Gibbs gets suspended

It's not really important where we finish at the end of the year. It's all irrelevant.

What's important is our development and how we build into next year.

That's right to a point but it will always be great for the efforts of individuals to be rewarded with a win.
The spotlight has been turned on Cripps for his work this week and I wouldn't be disappointed for it to be Buckley next week, Docherty the week after, Boekhorst the week after that etc .

Would be favourable for us to get sling-shotted into next year even if it means getting a pick #6 instead of the number 1.....but if we compete and lose then so be it.

Sorry if I came off in the wrong matter, I think Carrazzo adds balance to the team, he has always been slow, however, he is quick with his hands and releases the outside run. I think he has got his timing back, he adds value to the team with leadership and his output has been very good of past few weeks. Would be stiff to be dropped. Only two I can see coming out in next few weeks, bar injuries or rest, are Wood for Jamison/Jaksch and Walker for a plethora of options in the 2s.
