At the end of the day though... I believe the key to success will be limiting Rob Murphy and Matty Boyd off half back...
Big test for our forwards to put as much pressure on them as possible

As stated in the previous thread, I'd take Rowe out for Jamo. His disposal just isn't good enough.

I think both White and Rowe have looked shell-shocked at times with the prolonged absence of Jamison. Solid some weeks, eclipsed others.

Disposal is the mark of confidence. I'd be more concerned about making spud Dixon look like a superstar by conceding free kicks in front of goal.

OUTS: Docherty, Menzel, White, Ellard
INS: Dick, Boekhorst, Jamison, Johnson

FB: Simpson, Rowe, Tuohy
HB: Yarran, Jamison, Buckley
C: Everitt, Graham, Curnow
HF: Bell, Henderson, Armfield
FF: Johnson, Rowe, Kreuzer
R: Wood, Murphy, Cripps

I/C: Carazzo, Holman, Boekhorst, Dick (S)

I'd rather we played it safe with Doc, Menz and White - this is going to be a tough, physical game and if there are any doubts about their fitness they should take a week off.

Ellard shouldn't have gotten a game yesterday - as injury depth he's serviceable, but there are kids making claims to a senior berth and he shouldn't be edging them out. If we lose 10 blokes to injury, then Ellard can have a run - until then, nope.

Not sure Johnson has really earned a starting spot, but like for like he's probably the best structural replacement for Menzel. Watson/Jones and we're too tall, Clem still a bit raw, and Tutt in the same vein as Ellard shouldn't be getting games unless absolutely necessary. I doubt Blaine would offer much as the sub. Dick comes on late in the game to release Yarran or Buckley further up the ground.

Nowhere near as developed as Dixon. Dixon used his body to dominate yesterday, Boyd doesn't have that to his game yet.
200cm 104kg is a big ask for Jamison in his first game back.

Kicked 4 against Brisbane recently, so don't underestimate him. Still a teenager though, so it'll be a couple of years before he consistently earns that million dollar paycheck.

Didn't realise Doc was carrying something week to week.

Must say, I certainly don't think he's in the great form people make out. He tries harder than anything but there are some things he does in defense that he really just shouldn't. Maybe my expectations of him are too high.

I love the guy and love how much this club means to him. I expect he'll continue to improve out of sight over the next couple of seasons :thumbsu:

On Menz, I'm not his biggest fan but I don't understand the criticisms of him from yesterday's game. That was the hardest I'd seen him tackle and put his body on the line. Saad made him look a bit silly in the middle of the ground but that aside, thought he played quite well until the injury.

Not saying you're wrong J, but I respectfully disagree. I would have Doc in top 5 B&F at this stage, possible top 3.

His intercept marking is immense, he is very good one on one, cleans up loose balls in D50, links up well out of defense and does some great team things.

I do concede however that his finish can be a bit messy. He'll effect a great spoil, recover quickly, run around a couple of opponents and then half-shank the kick.

It's not great, but he aint perfect and I choose to take the good with the bad. Overall VERY happy with the Doc this year.

Yeah probably spot on.

The one I was thinking of on the weekend was where he spoiled the ball... straight up in the air for Lynch to pluck and kick a goal. It's just the small things he hasn't quite got right yet imo.

I've no doubt he'll get there sooner rather than later though.

OUT: Troy Menzel (Injured), Sam Docherty (IF Injured), Simon White (Omitted), David Ellard (Omitted)

IN: Andrew Walker, Blaine Boekhorst, Michael Jamison, Mark Whiley

FB - Tuohy, Rowe, Jamison
HB - Buckley, Simpson, Graham
C - Whiley, Carrazzo, Bell
HF - Armfield, Everitt, Curnow
FF - Henderson, Casboult, Kreuzer
R - Wood, Cripps, Murphy

I - Yarran, Boekhorst, Holman
S - Walker

If Docherty doesn't pull up, give him a week.
Menzel needs to be rested.
White unfortunate, but I think Rowe will keep his spot over him.
Ellard dropped because he lacks impact compared to the rest.

Walker would come in for Docherty and it would be best if he was the sub again.
Boekhorst seriously needs to get more game time.
Jamison looks set to return.
Whiley may not have been a standout in the VFL match, but his experience might give him a chance to be named.

What's the latest on Tex? Was his 1 weeker just to rest the knee or is the word that he'll be out a little longer?

That wasn't because he was doing the wrong thing though, he just didn't quite get the connection on the punch...

So the little things? Because that's what I was talking about. Overall he's doing well but there are just a few aspects letting him down.

That punch needed to go somewhere, anywhere, rather than straight up in the air.

He's a good player that will only get better :thumbsu:

I don't know, that seems like pretty unfair criticism. Players mistime their jumps all the time, especially arriving late to a contest.

Perhaps. That's not the only example but I don't really want to sit here and list every mistake the poor guy has made. He's a future gun and potential captain of this club :thumbsu:

Jiminy crickets, stop dropping Simpson
I'll stop dropping Simpson when he shows some form. He was marginally better than last week.

His trusty left boot has deserted him. Turns it over from 40m or kicks to Kreuzer with 2 opponents on him, leaving him no chance to mark.

"Kick it to me, sideways".
