It was pretty typical. As furious as the first quarter made me, I'm not taking this loss as a negative. Pure luck they won, considering our dominance of the last three quarters. What can you do eh?

Schoey could have used some help, but as improved as he has this year no doubt he did screw up sometimes.

Clear cut decision for holding the ball.

Costs us the game, top 2 and potentially the premiership. Worse (non) decision I have seen all year

But we gave them a 7 goal head start - should never have come down to that decision to win the game. We learnt they (hawks) have heart and hopefully they learn to bring it from the first bounce

Yes, I agree. Was baffling considering where the ball was, where he was, and all we had to do was lock the ball up.
Don't blame Puopolo (which I'm sure you aren't mate) when the game was lost in the center square. Our setup at center bounces was dissected and obliterated.

U knew they would get the final goal, just like every other game.... Same game replayed 9 times now. Shattering obviously the guys haven't learn from past games
It's de ja vu every time isn't it?
Makes you wonder why you bother sometimes...

this is raw so i am probably going to get blasted.

but this isn't all bad, we are all gutted yeah?
imagine how the players must feel!
this hoodoo is an issue, but we showed we had fight. the media would beat it up more than us
we showed we have fight, we made the mistake of giving them the lead but oh well everyone makes mistakes
shoey looked down and out, but even he showed some fight

they should show this match on continue throughout september
the fire will only burn stronger now. this happened in 08 as well remember

as long as we win in september

keep the hope lads
we can do this!!!

Lets hope we don't play them again this year......I will be rooting for whoever plays Geelong for the remainder of the year. I knew they werent finished, all the old farts still doing to rounds like friggin stokes and scarlo and chapman,

Once again, we play Geelong and our year derails slightly as they gain impetus. Thankfully this time we have some slight respite ahead rather than killer games but seriously, which one of you made the deal with the devil? Sure, I thank you for the premiership, I just wanna know how long the deal is supposed to last for? Just gimme a clue. Something...

I am gutted, I am gutted, I am gutted and if I owned a dog I would have kicked it, no holes in the plaster but I threw my coffee cup as far as I could down the street LOL. Another two point loss is just unbelievable. Stupid decision from Pupolo, I couldn't believe it when he did it and knew it cost us the game. We lost it in the fist qtr though. J-Spud was well held by Gibbo but Schoenmakers is not big enough and strong enough for Hawkins, not many in the the league are so it is not Schoey's fault and I feel he is vastly improved.

Never watching another fricken Geelong game again. It's like a nightmare that never ends. Whinge all you like about this and that in the dying seconds, we BLEW IT all in the 1st QTR. Should of never been in that position in the first place. What else is there to say.
Ill join u in looting their shit town for their ugg boots while theyre at the G being wanka's holding onto the last of their era.

Let's reframe from giving it to Schoey he doesn't deserve it Tom Hawkins is far to big for him and he was thrown to wolves with no support...play Gilham next time we play Geelong so he can take Pod to free Gibson p there problem solved.

Don't blame Puopolo (which I'm sure you aren't mate) when the game was lost in the center square. Our setup at center bounces was dissected and obliterated.

I don't blame him for the loss. Indeed, He was a catalyst in our comeback. But he's responsible for making a terrible decision at a critical juncture, which enabled Geelong to score the winning goal.

Back to square one again - current gameplan did not stand up to Geelong's pressure and you'd have to think we'll be facing similar in finals. The ball is back in Clarkson's court.

Why did we lose tonight? Obvious that despicable first quarter effort killed us. That was Un-Hawthorn like and utterly inexcusable. Clarkson should have dropped a man (or even two) back into defense to plug the leaks before they got out to a FOURTY FIVE POINT quarter time lead.

Hale was rubbish, absolutely smashed by a VFL grade hack in Stephenson. Bailey is our man for September I think. Cannot afford to let an opposition ruckman bend us over that way in September, exactly the same thing happened last time we played the Cats with Ottens.
For most of the game our midfield was trash. Blokes like Whitecross, Smith, Savage (did he play?), Suckling (was he the sub?) and so forth wilted under the pressure. Smashed at center bounces all night. Same old story from earlier in the year.

Great comeback but very very disappointing loss. Our weakness have been fully exposed for every other club to see. It also perpetuates the myth that was are chokers against Geelong, which I suppose going purely on results you'd have to say we have been. Very very disappointing night of football.
Bullshit our gameplan didn't stand up - we just weren't keyed into the gameplan in the first quarter.... I normally like your posts Bosk, but this is rubbish.... you don't come back from 51 points down against Geelong unless your gameplan goes alright... it's just that for the last 3 quarters we actually decided to have a crack.... we believed our own press in the first quarter

as all Geelong and Hawthorn supporters do, we hang shit all the time...it's only due to the amount respect both teams and supporters have toward one another but mad respect to Hawthorn tonight.

To come back from 51 points down and literally have the game for the taking is definitely what separates the few from the rest of the pack.

Umpiring was pretty ordinary all night but no doubt these two clubs will be hard to beat in the finals.
Franklin is seriously going to be a slight dilemma because your forward setup now is pretty switched on with so many goal kickers at any one time.

Again, sorry that there was a loser, a draw most likely would have been a fitting ending but you lost no fans tonight and just needed a little extra composure to finish off next time around.

It must be hurting right now but that was one seriously good game of footy. I have focused on a qtr like that in a logn long time. To come back from so far behind shows amazing spirit from your team and you should be proud of the effort but obviously dissapointed with the result.

You blokes had the umpires on your side majority of the night.

5 goals directly from bullshit frees.

give it a rest you were beaten by a better team - 9 times in a row

We gave you a 9 goal head start and it took a kick after the siren from a ball that should've been in Cyrils hands to win. It does look like arse beats class once again.
