White out. McKay in. Too tall down back. Rather extra tall in forward line to stretch Melbourne. May have to play Army on Jeffy. I know Armfields out of touch but he is fast. It's up to the midfield to pressure and run both ways so Melbourne forwards get rushed delivery. Hopefully anyway. I think it's time to see what McKay can do.

funny you make the point about age yet smedts 25,sumner 24,nicky g 23 are around the same age, lamb sets up well ahead of the ball which boy oh boy do we need, pickett is still learning an wouldn't be stunned if he goes out for lamb this week

my ins lamb,nicky bling g
outs armfield,pickett

 What for?

Bolton will do nothing[maybe 2 changes]
our defense V Richmond was loose and will do much better against the Dees.
Armfield possibly the only out for Kerridge or possibly Graham considering our lack of people putting up their hand from the 2's
Oh McKay.....is the big one this week
Bring Mc Kay.....Casboult out.
Can Mc Kay ruck?....interesting to see how he combines with Pickett...we need GOALS !

Sorry, but I'm just not getting this train of thought at all. Graham gets another go because no one else has put their hand up? Armfield gets another go?White gets another go? If we always do what we have always done, we know what we are going to end up with. Why anyone would go back to Graham, or the others rather than bringing in one of the young players for a crack, I just don't get it.

I would drop C.Curnow if he doesn't perform. Looked unfit last week which is concerning in round 1. Runs around like a lost puppy.
Our biggest concern is our midfield. All one paced, Curnow,Gibbs, Cripps and Murphy. With some short bursts from SPS the only spark.

If it weren't for his surname he'd have had 50% less chances already.
He plays with plenty of passion, but so far, unfortunately it ends there.
I disagree, I would play Buckley for rest of the season. He needs continuity, give him confidence that he belongs. I believe he brings great energy and run which we are lacking.

Graham got the most touches in the twos - teaches the youngsters that you get selected on effort as much as talent, and that impact in the twos doesnt go unnoticed.

Graham is also a more mature body to go up against a bigger bodied melbourne team, and is a bit of a tackling machine - something we significantly lacked last week.

Graham plays a game that is suited to 2nd tier football. He is however, all at sea when playing the completely different game that is AFL Seniors.

He has shown repeatedly that he can dominate at the lower level. He is a star.

He has also repeatedly shown that his game cannot survive at AFL level.

He gets ignored at AFL level when presenting in redundant areas. His feet can't carry him to useable areas, and his brain/skills can't put others in useable areas.

He is a star footballer. But a poor AFL footballer.

Agree. This year is not only about development but seeing what else we have. Certain players have been given heaps of goes but done nothing and are older. I have no issue giving Buckley a good run in defence or Graham a good run in the middle. Gallucci Sheehan as well. It's not as if they may cost us a game and we may find something.

Agree he needs continuity, a fair run at it but rest of the season? If he's not producing consistent impact after about 2-3 consecutive games then it's time to give someone else the spot on matchday. Like his passion but needs to step-up.

Maybe with Gallucci and Sheehan sure, but I think we have seen all we are going to get with the other two. Look, I like Buckley and so want him to do well, but I just don't think he is AFL standard, same as Graham. Id rather we explore the option of Williamson over Buckley, sure Williamson is a medium not a small, but he has that run and speed out of the backline that we are looking for.
