Do you think a forward line of something like this?

HF: Stanley, Bock, Brennan
F: Matera, Lynch, Fraser

A lot of experience and height there, will really stretch the Essendon defenders
FWIW, this is what we'd likely put on each:

Hardingham-Stanley
Hooker-Bock
Hibberd-Brennan
Dempsey-Matera
Pears-Lynch
Fletcher-Fraser

Who would you put on these blokes in our forward line?

Monfries-Hurley-Crameri
McVeigh-Ryder-Jetta

Because whenever I look at your side, you seem a bit small IMO

That's nothing but tall in our forward line? 4 guys above about 194cm?

I would like the backline something like this. Doubt it will be though

B: Harbrow, Warnock, Taylor
HB: Weller, May, Brown

... I don't think we'll have too much to worry about there..
Also if we need an extra tall defender, well Ryder and Hurley, not to mention young Carlisle have plenty of experience playing as defenders..

Any words on how ticket sales are shaping for the match?

Look forward to seeing the ins/outs tonight. Ive heard at least 4 changes, possibly 5...

i must agree with this setup, however, i dont think taylor is big enough to be the third tall yet, hutchins imo will be better suited

I dont mind what he does, pretty sure he is over 190cm? So I'm not sure the height you consider a 3rd tall to be.

Im a Hutchins fan too, and see him in the same position. So either Hutchins or Taylor for me in that back pocket not overly fussed there. Both have shown good signs.

Team should improve a bit this week with key additions. A shame the boys let it blow out v St Kilda. My personal view of ins/outs at this stage:

In: Fraser, Bock, Stanley, Sexton.
Out: Hickey, May, Hunt, Weller

Play Fraser as the focal point up front with Bock on the half back, give Hurley to Warnock. Stanley/Sexton offer some more avenues to goal and in form.

Weller wasnt up to scratch, let Armitage run riot despite the tag. Hunt is overrated and did little. Hickey/May not quite ready yet and good replacements coming in.

Hey guys, just some friendly criticism..

Weller IMO is not up to it yet and why isn't Charlie Dixon playing? Injured?

He needs to be a target for you guys up front.

May and Hickey are also not ready...

where is Sam Day and Josh Toy?

You'll have to take it from us. Weller is more up to it than Dixon, Day and Toy at the moment. ;) Don't rate Weller from last weeks performance. He's very good for us in the back pocket.

Dixon in the 2s. Not seeming to be a huge stand-out right now. Toy is the same. Day coming off a huge stint from the sidelines, so working his way up to some form and touch. No rush for him, so could see him back into the seniors about round 9-10 if he keeps getting form up.

Very surprised Stanley (Our leading goal kicker last year) cannot get into a team with some very shakey individuals playing at the moment.

Glad to see Bock and Fraser back into the team.

Day is interesting. Hope it works out for us. Fingers Crossed.

grrr danny stanley is singehandedly ruining my DT. didn't know he was suspended... but he's available again now and overlooked?? ahhhhh!

since last time they played

Gold Coast INS: Bock, Prestia, Caddy, Hall, Lynch, Russell, Day, Warnock

Gold Coast OUTS: Harris, Iles, Toy, May, Hutchins, Dixon, Patrick, Stanley

Essendon INS: Fletcher, Davey, Dempsey, Carlisle, Pears, Dyson

Essendon OUTS: Slattery, McVeigh, Hille, Lovett-Murray, Lonergan, Hooker

Key stats:

Reimers kicked 8 last time

Josh Toy had 8 free kicks

Hooker had 30 touches

Looking at those outs and ins from the last time we played, we're certainly putting out a stronger team. Well, mostly anyway. Stanley and Iles aside.

Can see Bock and Lynch switching around, but if Bock stays in our defense, it's going to make it far more structually in tact than last time we played them. In that round, our only guy with experience was Harbrow. Just Harbrow!

Now we have Brennan, Warnock, Bock AND Harbrow. Crazy how much the difference is.

Good to see Tape back in. He'll be under scrutiny this week.

Brown was due for a spell anyway, so not worried about him being out.

Taylor a good out. Was due to head back to the 2s.

I'm worried about bringing Day back so soon. Hopefully he can find some touch, or that he and Lynch can team up and kick some goals.

But it's difficult to see where our goals are going to come from if Bock stays back. That's a bit worrying, but I have faith that our medium/small forwards can put the numbers on the board if our big forwards can bring it to ground. Mids chipping in too.

Hunt to be the sub.

It was only 4 weeks ago that Day tweeted to BigFooty SUNS saying that he was very frustrated by his lack of touch. It was his first return game in the NEAFL though, and he's had a few since.

He did kick one goal last week against the Swans reserves, but I think it was from something on the run. Not from one of those big flies. ;)

Fingers crossed. Coaches wouldn't bring him back if they thought he wasn't ready.

Looking at the team I like the centreline of Caddy Prestia and McKenzie
A snapshot of the future(contract renewals notwithstanding  )
They may not beat their men on Saturday, but in 12 months time I'd be backing them in
3 guys who have a red hot go

Really? Essendon were hideous against bottom 8 sides last year - losing to Richmond, North, Melbourne, Fremantle (just defeating Port). In comparison they beat Geelong, West Coast, Sydney, drew with Carlton, St Kilda.

yes and were flogge by west coast and carlton in the next encounter badly all 3 games both by the blues and once to the eagles
