Not wanting to start a new thread so I am posting this here.

Had a call from my daughter around 10am greatly excited.

She had just taken her boys to Aust Kick at Heathmont and Buddy & Goo were there signing autographs for all the kids and answering questions.

Great work boys as Goo was pretty sore.:thumbsu::thumbsu:

Believe more Hawks were at other Aust Kick venues in the East today

Re; Young - really happy with his game. Was as good as could be expected coming back. There is still a BUT though.

His biggest issues are (1) not getting enough footy, and (2) not using it well (aside from gaining length).

He certainly used it terrifically last night. Great to see. Still not getting that much of it though - which isn't a big issue if he makes an impact like last night when he does. Last night seemed to be a familiar pattern though - he seems to be one of those players who flies out of the blocks and gets 7-8 touches early but then finishes the game with only 15 or 16 in total. just has to find a way to stay involved in the game for longer.

All in all a good return though and more than justified his selection.

Was about to post something similar. In a game where we dominated possession he only got it 8 times after the first quarter.

Pretty ordinary win but 11 goals nevertheless.

Next.

On a sour note, terribly disappointed with Ossie's injury. Sounds like it could be the season for him. And Changa copped a shoulder injury playing for BHHs as well. Not sure who's going to replace Ossie next week, no one seemed to do anything at Box Hill yesterday.

Because after dominating the first qtr believe it or not mark neeld tagged him for the rest of the game. Obviously neeld has more respect for dasher than most on here who questioned his place in the team hardly surprising a dangerous player when on

Goal kicking practice from now on till the end of season. Day in and day out till we iron out what the hell is making us kick 15.25?

Crawford just mentioned on the footy show that Ben Dickson was our forwards coach last year and we kicked the best we ever have and now he is no longer at our forward coach.
But I thought Leon Cameron was our forwards coach, so something has gone wrong from last year to now.

I think Goo got a fair bit of attention too on Friday night. He seemed to have a lot more space/time in the last half than the first, not sure if that means Goo's tag later went to Young or not.

Young played very well IMO. He is an outside player who runs & delivers by foot. He played outside; ran; & delivered well by foot. He also kicked 2 goals. Hard to argue with that performance. I'm not sure what his opposing wingman did the other way but the way we controlled possession suggests that he didn't do nearly as well as Young did.

Yep, this.

Might be nothing, but did anyone else notice that Youngy, in my eyes at least, appeared to be taking a little bit of steam off his kicks at just the last moment before kicking short/medium passes? Hard to explain, but it certainly looked a little different to his normal short kicking technique. Perhaps he may have figured out that his inaccuracy of recent times may be as a result of putting a little too much power into his kicks? Seemed evident on his shots on goal too. It's a long shot, I know...

Was noted at the game by others also. Looked a lot cleaner.

He said "goal kicking coach" or 'was there helping them with their goal kicking" something like that - Not forwards coach. The inference was that he was working on their goal kicking technique specifically. Still, you would think if he showed them how to do it last year, why would it drop off just because he isnt around to show them again... strange. Two or three years ago Roughie was going through what Buddy is now (if I remember correctly)

Have re-watched the game & something is different. Might be in the ball drop or the wind-up. Whatever it is, something is different & it seemed to work.

Has Cheney ever played forward? Wouldn't mind seeing him have a crack at the defensive fwd role in Ossie's absence.
