Without Jack Newnes impact on the scoreboard today, we lose. Warts and all, Newnes played a significant part in our win today, and instead of some who still feel the need to pot him for all his mistakes, why not just applaud him for the good stuff he has brought to the team of late.

Think it has been bit of a masterstroke of Teague pushing up him on the forward flanks.

I am surprised and delighted by how good his kicking at goal Is :)

Wasn't a great game, and truth be told potentially flatter than after last week...will give positives though as that's what I like to focus on:

Really happy with:

-The fact we got the win - even when we are not playing great, can do enough to get the 4 points...don't understimate that...
-Simmo
-Plowman - BOG for mine, only for the importance of his influence when it mattered
-Jones
-Weitering
-Kennedy
-Setterfield
-Pittonet (particularly in Q1, but nullified Goldstein who can be very influential)
-Curnow

By the way, haven't read the thread but know people will be bagging the umpires...that is a real cop out and anyone thinking of doing it have the mentality that we have to clean up our own backyard before we look at deflecting blame...
Well I'm not blaming the umpires as such I'm blaming the afl the telling the umpired to do certain things. E.g pay more free kicks. Pay holding the ball. Pay this free kick more etc. Etc. JUST GIVE THEM THE ****ING RULE BOOK AND LET THE GOOD UMPIRES KEEP THEIR JOB AND THE BAD ONES DON'T. Thats the way its used to happen. Sorry about the rant LOL.

Totally agree, rather than chastising Cripps he should be helped. He always gives a huge effort. We should be going for a player like Ollie Wines to assist Crippa, then we will be a really competitive team.

I don't think that's the case anymore. We got Earl Spalding over to run through anyone that went for Diesel, we need the same for Cripps. Pittinet, Levi, Kennedy, Setterfield, anyone with some muscle to go and throw dicks like Anderson off his tail.

I dont like blaming umps, I really dont but when subpar players like ****ing Jed Anderson face him at stoppages and throw every little elbow and pinch at him, then we need to ****ing let our presence known. ****, Cripps has carried us, time to let him know we wont take it.

im so confused about Newnes .... is he best 22? does some awesome things and then some really dumb things .... then again u look at SPS and think ... yeah Newnes rocks
I said during the game when he stuffs up, he really stuffs up. But you can't drop him the way he is playing. Handy contributor and hitting the scoreboard

Walsh really starting to own the wing position. He does his best work in the guts but credit to him to play the role that's been asked of him and doing it so well.

Setters coming along. Maligned last year but showing how much difference a full preseason + continuity makes. His tackling's always been a strength and it's only gotten better now he's playing in the guts. Stronger in the contest, getting his hands free and using the ball much better. Walsh on the wing + Setters in the gut working a lot better for us than the other way round.

Newnes is an interesting one. Strong and a hard runner. Lacks composure in defence but goes forward and kicks goals. Heart in mouth any time he gets it.

Weiters smashed Ben Brown. Wasn't even a contest. Plowman's been solid for a while, despite the criticism, but he's stepped it up again. Way too good for Zurhaar, and his positioning down the line in the last killed any hope North might have had.

Wins a win but walking out of the ground I really didn't feel like we deserved it

We didn't play with much intensity and once North put a loose back we had no idea what to do a kept kicking long to him every time we tried to go forward and he marked it. The mids should've been smarter but the forwards did not compete at all, they just let them mark it.

I saw one moment in particular where Casboult and Moores men were in front and getting to the fall of the ball ahead of them, instead of trying to compete they both stopped and threw there hands up and didn't make a contest - literally there hands up and stopped running. Instead of sulking you've got to compete whether you like the supply or not. I was surprised to see that from Cas to be honest, sulking doesn't seem to he in his nature but he did it today.

Moore will never play for us again.

Mitch will miss with a string.

Hopefully H back.

TDK MUST come in.

I haven't heard if TDK has been doing anything in the practice matches? Can't reward subpar performances etc.

Can't play Moore again though either. I Reckon Harry will be right to go Friday

Walsh last two weeks have been fantastic. Somehow how worked out how to be more involved, kicking has been better and tackling very well.

So let me get this straight. In order of importance in our forward line it goes;

Charlie (out long term injured)
Harry (Late Withdrawal -replacement doesn't touch it)
Mitch (off before half time)
Levi (injured clearly, doesn't ruck and doesn't contribute much)

We beat a team that we haven't beaten for 6 years and the world is about to end.

Clearly there are things that we need to do better. Jones, Weitering and Plowman are in really good nick, Setters is impacting games more and more and Cuners has the ability to be elite.

In recent years I have had a gutful of good teams just doing enough to fall over the line when we battled hard all day - to have their supporters say "lets just bank the 4 points and move on"

Well today we should just bank the 4 points and move on.

I was hopeful Moore would do something to demonstrate why he's AFL grade and earned that second chance.

Unfortunately, the last time I saw a player move less when the ball wasn't in his vicinity was Fev. The game was different then. I'd legitimately hate to see his GPS numbers as he literally became a sloth without the ball. Really poor workrate.

Sadly, he looks like a player from a previous era of football who just doesn't belong in the modern game.

I hope he looked better on TV and that I'm being harsh. Happy to be told that I am. Not sure if he just needs to learn running patterns or if he was legit lost out there.

1 handball from 1 uncontested possession, 1 free kick against, 2 tackles, 3 hitouts, 12 metres gained. Misread the flight of the ball time and time again, and was downright slow defensively. I'm actually shocked that a 23 year old who has been in the AFL system for 5 years, can be that ineffectual.

Great to hear the booing from the fans instead of that constant artificial background cheering. Both last week & this week the Blues fans have been large in numbers vocal & passionate. Well done QLD Blue fans.

Hopefully we got our bad game out of the way and still won.
any cheering or just the booing you thought was great?

Next time we play North, I want someonse to ****ing run through Anderson like a freight train.
