My eyeballs were bleeding in that 3rd qtr where we tried to out-turnover each other. Hard game to watch.

Is there anywhere that shows our midfield minutes? Thought we could have tried a few more combos in the wet ... Gibbons especially, maybe also a little bit more time in there for Cuningham. Felt we needed to try a couple of things when we were 3 goals up but you could feel the change in momentum.

Newnes needs to kick >25m and not handball.

What did Andersen do to set Crippa off?
Wore a man bun that’s provocation enough. 😁

Wins a win but walking out of the ground I really didn't feel like we deserved it

We didn't play with much intensity and once North put a loose back we had no idea what to do a kept kicking long to him every time we tried to go forward and he marked it. The mids should've been smarter but the forwards did not compete at all, they just let them mark it.

I saw one moment in particular where Casboult and Moores men were in front and getting to the fall of the ball ahead of them, instead of trying to compete they both stopped and threw there hands up and didn't make a contest - literally there hands up and stopped running. Instead of sulking you've got to compete whether you like the supply or not. I was surprised to see that from Cas to be honest, sulking doesn't seem to he in his nature but he did it today.
This is what s**** me too
So many times we give up and just stand there and let them take the easy mark instead of at least getting the ball to ground where Eddie, Gibbo, Martin and Cunners can get to work. So what you can’t take the easy mark you can at least make body contact and let them know your around and bring your teammates into the game.
Maclure and Spalding made our sides great by doing just that

1 handball from 1 uncontested possession, 1 free kick against, 2 tackles, 3 hitouts, 12 metres gained. Misread the flight of the ball time and time again, and was downright slow defensively. I'm actually shocked that a 23 year old who has been in the AFL system for 5 years, can be that ineffectual.

Sadly, the numbers match the eye test.

Total deer in the headlights type stuff.

I hadn't been following the scratch match stuff too closely but it didn't seem like he had been in our bests there too often.

Unfortunate that the first list management move post SOS - and after rumor that it was due to conflict of interest - was a former Richmond player even if it doesn't quite align with Cain's timeline.

He's not going to get ample opportunity that it was a pace of the game issue like best 22 players would either.

In the end:

- we were favourites
- against a side with their backs to the wall
- against a side who loves nothing more than sticking it up us
- in the wet
- with injuries
- with a lip sided free kick count

That’s a loss in previous years.

now then... we’ve beaten Hawthorn once since 2005 (or something). Time to put them away!
Agreed
Wins a win......often its not particularly pretty

Eni

Take the Hawks as well and keep hanging around top 8
Might see some finals....

We have 9 games left.

5 of those are bottom 6 teams.

2 are near us on the ladder.

2 are top 4 (one Collingwood which is always a chance)

We just need to keep winning.

I don't care how pretty it is. Learn to hold on and win.

So let me get this straight. In order of importance in our forward line it goes;

Charlie (out long term injured)
Harry (Late Withdrawal -replacement doesn't touch it)
Mitch (off before half time)
Levi (injured clearly, doesn't ruck and doesn't contribute much)

We beat a team that we haven't beaten for 6 years and the world is about to end.

Clearly there are things that we need to do better. Jones, Weitering and Plowman are in really good nick, Setters is impacting games more and more and Cuners has the ability to be elite.

In recent years I have had a gutful of good teams just doing enough to fall over the line when we battled hard all day - to have their supporters say "lets just bank the 4 points and move on"

Well today we should just bank the 4 points and move on.

Well said.

Without Jack Newnes impact on the scoreboard today, we lose. Warts and all, Newnes played a significant part in our win today, and instead of some who still feel the need to pot him for all his mistakes, why not just applaud him for the good stuff he has brought to the team of late.

Think it has been bit of a masterstroke of Teague pushing up him on the forward flanks.

I am surprised and delighted by how good his kicking at goal Is :)
Feeling a bit more positive now are we EJ. 👍

I'm disappointed he is considered a better option to TDK by our coaches and MC

Well I'm not blaming the umpires as such I'm blaming the afl the telling the umpired to do certain things. E.g pay more free kicks. Pay holding the ball. Pay this free kick more etc. Etc. JUST GIVE THEM THE ******* RULE BOOK AND LET THE GOOD UMPIRES KEEP THEIR JOB AND THE BAD ONES DON'T. Thats the way its used to happen. Sorry about the rant LOL.
And jam the rule book right up number 1s arseh*le and twist.

The best part of today for me, was the class shown by our boys when the North player coughed up that handball to Cunningham and we got that gift goal.
No one got in his face. No one ruffled his hair. I thought that was really classy by our blokes. Especially Cunningham who kicked the goal.

Outside of that, what an awful awful game. They’ll want to be better than that moving forward. I’m pretty sure North beat us by a 100 not long ago. I think we played better that day!

But really important four points. We’ll take it!

Not defending Moore - he was atrocious, but wonder how big a factor the setup in intensity is. The scratch matches are glorified circle work - will be interesting to see how the likes of Dow and Fisher adapt when they get the call up.
