Watson & Buckley in hahahahaha!!! hahaha!!! buckley couldn't even play out 4Q in the vfl,an got a knock to his calf an didn't come back on, he needs at least anotehr 4 weeks in the vfl..

you are kidding if you want watson in,why reward crap form? he doesn't get alot of the ball,

only players that have earned a game,

dale has a crack!!
carter another who has a crack
kerr will start 20 fights by half time, might start a fight that gets the boys up!!

Re: RND 9 - Carlton v Melbourne Sunday 27th May 3.15PM @ MCG

Outs: Murphy (inj), Henderson (inj), Duigan (inj), Russell, Bower

Ins: Bootsma, Watson, Buckley, Mitchell, Kerr

Season is shot, might as well play a few kids.

If Warnock is available one of Hampson/Kreuzer can go out, they were both terrible yesterday.

Have to ask you to justify the Bower omission...made some important spoils, took the game on when no one else in Navy Blue would, few glaring errors...why would we drop him when he was so far from our worst?

Re: RND 9 - Carlton v Melbourne Sunday 27th May 3.15PM @ MCG

INS:
Watson - as much as Hendo is killing it in defense, his best value to us is up forward but we need Watson to step up. Now is his time!
McLean - our best performer at Bullants for last two seasons and has not had a fair crack. We are getting killed in clearances. Slow? Yes but so is Sam Mitchell!
Bootsma - having a great season in the twos and had another great game on the weekend. Not physically ready but an opportunity to send a message to some of the senior players

Lucas - can't be promoted based on his recent form and his game for Northern Blues on the weekend. Badly out of touch
Kerr - only reason he might play is for coaches to get a look at him at top level. Otherwise, probably first to be delisted at season's end
Buckley - was great on the weekend but not quite yet. Still too lean and just coming back from an injury layoff so need km's in the legs
Waite - dont think you get over a back injury in 1 week

OUTS:
Curnow - cant believe he is escaping criticism. His value to our team is clearance work and he is failing miserably. Kicking is by far the worse in the team. Has only performed well in two games this season and they were Rnds 1 & 3. We have been carrying him for 5 rounds.
Russell - his confidence is shot! I know dropping him will lower his confidence even more but we can't carry any longer. If he survives, must be moved up the field on a wing or HFF
Murphy - due to injury

Bower - staggered by criticism he is receiving. Had a real go yesterday, spoiled well and showed some run off half back. Some of kicks did let him down but must keep his spot
Tuohy - extremely lucky to survive. Anoter one who we have been carrying as he is badly out of form as well.

Don't be a prat about it. Ratten just said that changes would be made and those players may not necessarily be ready so we are speculating. Buckley is too small but by all accounts played well on the weekend. Bootsma at least gets the crowd into the game, and Watson while not showing a lot would fit the definition of a player not ready plus he has already played games. However Jamo, Hendo and Bower are still better options so it is unlikely. Whoever we elevate from the rookie list has to take the place of someone who is LTI for 8 weeks. Not sure any of our guys are 8 week injuries at the moment. Kerr is possible, Lucas has been in and out and does not fit what Ratts said. May still come in but I consider him ready as he has been playing.

Re: Round 9 - Carlton vs Melbourne

May as well post it here as well although most of us get the weekly Ratts email.

Changes guaranteed and some of them not necessarily ready. Can only think of Bootsma, Buckley and Watson. You'd think McCarthy is a bit off the pace. Maybe Dale who played well again on the weekend I believe.

Loved the fact that he said we are carrying some players.

Thanks for the insight ODN..thats exactly what i wanted to hear from Ratts...now for the players to stand up and prove they want to play for the Carlton Jumper.

I told everyone who would listen all last week that we were no chance against the Crows....the way we lost to the Saints was a warning signal that all is not well with the team at the moment ..they need to fix it and fix it fast before our season is completely down the gurgler.

I would like to see Dylan get a run as well as Bootsma ...both looked very good in the VFL..although Dylan went off with some sort of injury ??

Anyhow we should have enough firepower to beat the Dees but that still won't answer any questions.

I somewhat agree with your argument on rewarding form, but on that basis, how on earth does Lucas get a recall.

My reason for including Watson is structure so that we can release Hendo to the forward line. Didn't think Watson was that bad on the weekend and Hendo showed what he can do up forward in a quarter of football.

Re: RND 9 - Carlton v Melbourne Sunday 27th May 3.15PM @ MCG

Wish we had a tougher assignment this week. The boys will only get ahead of themselves again..

I actually think the draw has helped. Gives players the opportunity to get some confidence back over the next two games rather than getting smashed again. Hopefully go into the Geelong game 7-3 with a positive vibe.

but the ants coach gave the number 1 back duty to mccarty? think that hints watson isn't the number 1 back,so hardly in line for a call up.. even mcinnes had a crack at full back before wato this year at times...
reward a player just cose he was a high pick? find that stupid!! when mccarty is doing ok job,
dees hardly have a tall foward line anyway, that's why i reckon carter might get upgraded this week

Re: RND 9 - Carlton v Melbourne Sunday 27th May 3.15PM @ MCG

Do people actually watch footy on this forum? Watson can't get a kick in the 2's, Bootsma is built like a 15 year old kid as is Buckley

You don't just play kids for the sake of it. You can kill their confidence and the experience of their 1st game.

Brock McLean is on our list, he deserves his chance. Given teams our choking us in the midfield, he can be the inside player we need.

Warnock - if fit - Must come in. Our Rucks don't know what a hit to advantage even means!

I don't blame our forward or Backs, we game plan is getting beaten and its making our players go into their shells.

Our mids have been poor.

Gibbs - has been has been very poor.

Turn it around against Melbourne, get the confidence up and hit Port.

Oh, get rid of Ratten

I agree its a cheap stunt! but don't underestimate the a couple of youngsters coming in to the team to get the players thinking differently and playing with a tad more pride or duty of care for their team mates. It's not the long term solution, however it does get some more game time in the youngn's and maybe something will click with the crew and we sneak a couple of extra wins until our injury list is looking a little shorter.

I watched most of the game on the wekend and pretty sure Watson played on both Tarrant and Hansen (their two best forwards). Thought he spoiled quite well and his upside is his skills coming out of defense.

As for McCarthy, he is miles off a senior game!

Re: RND 9 - Carlton v Melbourne Sunday 27th May 3.15PM @ MCG

Can we please tell Mclean,. he is in for every game till Murphy comes back, if he plays well then he stays in the team. That means at least one player will be busting their arse out there.

I also hope we are doing lots of team building at training. Get the group playing as a team and who knows how far we could turn it around.

Also make it, first person to get knocked out putting their head over the ball gets to root a team mates missus. That will get the boys fired up.

Re: RND 9 - Carlton v Melbourne Sunday 27th May 3.15PM @ MCG

It's amazing that it's come to this in little more than a month. Flag favourites to season over? We have the same W/L record as Hawthorn so that's clearly not true. Still a very long way to go.

Two crap teams first before the four game patch that was always going to decide our year. That is still the case. Knowing this bipolar outfit we'll probably roll the Cats, Eagles, Hawks and Pies all on the trot then get done by North.

Bootsma is built like a kid but so has Dustin Fletcher been for his whole career. Bootsma is a very good spoiler, excellent kick, an outside player and has been in great form. Have no doubt he would do a better job than Russell at the moment.

I agree with your view on Buckley though. An inside player that isn't physically ready.

Very unlucky to get dropped following Essendon game and very unlucky not have been recalled since.

You ask if people watch Football and then say M'çlean deserves a chance ...maybe you should have said a dozen more chances ?

Who cares what the build of the players are ...Simmo is no raging Bull and he seems to do ok....besides it's only melbourne.

As for the rest of your post ..no shit captain understatement.

Re: RND 9 - Carlton v Melbourne Sunday 27th May 3.15PM @ MCG

Changes:

Hammer/K for 206 & Waite:

If 206 is good to go both out, Hampson is simply not upto it, yes he will occassionally do something excting when we are playing a crap side or 10 goals up but outside of that he has not improved one bit. As for K he has been so dissappionting in the last month I can only assume he is injured and needs a rest. He should be easily getting 20 touches a game with his mobility and his inability to have any impact fwd of the ball is of great concern.

Further two ruckman who cannot play fwd is not workable in the modern game other than every once in awhile to give your prime ruckman a rest. 206 is by far our best ruckman so he plays.

Waite in if good to go.

Gibbs for Lucas:

God knows why our only up coming potential high quailty mid is out of the side should be in every week. I watched Gibbs closely on the weekend and he was just jogging around, so many times he could of dug deep and run to space but refused. He is reminding me of Dal Santo prior to Lyon dropping him. Time to give him a cracker up the bum.

Curnow for Mclean:

Like for like, Curnow struggiling to have an impact so keep switching these two until one delivers.

Watson for Russell:

Mountain of a kid lets get him in and send Hendo fwd. Russell is back to his pre 2010 form and is not AFL standard.

Bootsma or Buckley for Murphy:

Lets have alook at one of them. If they were at GWS they would be playing so pick one and pop them in.

Clearly we are at a point where it is line in the sand time and yes it is tokenisum but lets fix the situation while we are 5 and 3 and likely to be 7 and 3 rather than wait for another drubbing from a decent side.

I am assuming you are intimating that Brock has already had too many chances.

For the record:
2010 - played 6 games with a very good start before being hit by injuries
2011 - played 4 games of which we won 3 and lost one to the Cats by 2 points
2012 - played 1 game and dropped after having 17 touches, 7 clearances, 3 tackles and kicked 1 goal. Hardly worse on ground

Has been very unfairly maligned. We knew he was slow when we recruited him but the aim was to give Judd a chop out which noone other than Carrots is doing.

How he has not been recalled since Round 4 is mind boggling when 3 of our games have been at Etihad.

Re: Round 9 - Carlton vs Melbourne

Dear Mr Ratten,

Please drop Bower and Russell. I don't care who comes in for them as long as it's not that spud Joseph.

Love,

Kades Dad.

I know Bower is a bit of a whipping boy when things are not going Carltons way, but IMO he certainly wasnt the worst player on the field yesterday. His DE was top 7 of those with more than 10 disposals and equal top with Jamieson on 1%. kept Stiffy goaless from what I saw.

Seems there was bigger issues yesterday than Bower to me like contested footy.

Re: RND 9 - Carlton v Melbourne Sunday 27th May 3.15PM @ MCG

Out: Murphy:(, Duigan, Curnow, maybe others.

Hopefully Waite is right to come back in.
Play Gibbs at half forward.
Robbo in the guts for the whole game.

Re: RND 9 - Carlton v Melbourne Sunday 27th May 3.15PM @ MCG

Bootsma is built like a 15 year old kid as is Buckley

Dylan's old man debuted when he was 16, I don't understand your point. Dustin Fletcher played in a premiership side at 18.

These are 19 year old men for heaven's sake. Some on here would wrap them in cotton wool until their 21st birthday.

If a young man has talent and is in form he deserves to play (at least as the substitute) ahead of the mediocrity that senior players have dished up the past fortnight.
