KL makes a good point though, you'd think someone in the footy department would have to have known.

Yes, KL makes an excellent point and the implications are pretty worrying.

I'm not close enough to really be able to comment on who would have known etc. There is every chance that it was THE BOYS having a LARK after training.

But the vibe I'm getting is that yeah, someone who should have known a lot better was in on it.

Whilst Wilson has her faults, she has at least a semblance of credibility and doesn't use her upwardly-nubile position to parade her recently discovered feminism with the odd-flirtation with an adjacent footy player. Her credentials are about as limpid as Dave Hughe's blue-collar act.

Not on this board she doesn't. The smart money is still on the AFL overseeing a relocation remember?

An interesting post you made about the gender politics of footy reporting though.

For mine, one of the astutest judges of the game, and certainly the most astute judge of young talent, is Emma Quayle.

I really wouldn't want female football journos to get trapped in the ... wait for it ... paradigm of those who allegedly use their feminine wiles, or a practised pseudo-feminism and those who don't.

I don't give a shit if a journo is male, female, or as one of our most respected posters here would say, a 'cut n shut'.

I just want to read informed, accurate, timely footy pieces.

Lets all take a deep breath.
We have a big game coming up. The club is in the middle of a strong membership drive, Arden St redevelopment and a promising young list.

What did just happen? Some idiot (or a couple) have shown they need to have their ears clipped and are in need of some serious talking to by the senior players and possibly some community service added on for good measure. End of story.

To draw any connection from this stupidity to violence against women is like calling Kane Johnson a cop hater for urinating on St Kilda Rd police complex.

And what is a chicken "carcas" anyway? I assume it was just a chicken purchased in the supermarket - why call it a "carcas"?

Hope we deal with it internally, embarrass the idiot who did it and lets not allow it to distract anyone from Sunday.

DR posted it here a few weeks ago. You didn't see it then?
Ah, apologies CW.

Since I have DR on block I wouldn't have seen it.

So BF Mods know when things should be taken down, and yet it floats around the club for weeks?

I cannot imagine the beat down that would be handed to any member of the club outside the playing group who knew about this and said nothing.

it.

.

I didn't see it.

It's lucky no-one at the club bothers with us mouthy morons on BF, because if theyd known it was up here, then surely action would have been taken.

It wasn't taken down by a NMFC board mod or anything. Infact, the post is still there (but since the youtube video was removed, the link no longer works and is hence safe to be linked to)

See the post here.

Indiscretions don't come much bigger than this.

If your club is truly fair dinkum about the rights of women and chicken and being role models in the wider community then you will immediately suspend every tall player on your list for one week.

I understand why people may take offence to the content of the video (if they do, I would hope they are one of the 200 that saw it mind you) and obviously we need to address it as The Age have decided it's the most important news item of the day, but are North really going to have a press conference to discuss Boris the rubber chicken?

Hopefully they take the sensible and appropriate response, which is;

a) It was stupid, and juvenile, and we apologise for it
b) Understand that it was meant as a private joke between mates, and whilst this does not excuse the content, understand that the context means that it was obviously never meant to enter the public domain
c) We at NMFC take very seriously the issue of degredation and violence against women, and do not want to skirt responsibility here. However, we should make it clear that this was a video involving a rubber-chicken, and was quite obviously not a video encouraging or condoning such attitudes.

In Euge I trust.

The real chicken remains nameless.

Seriously, it does show how AVOIDABLE this whole freakin' thing is.

Idiots.

Pity the Oscars have been and gone. Boris could have got himself nominated.

What a beat up. Violence is depicted in everyday society these days. You just have to watch a movie or a show like Underbelly. So to say that the individuals who made the little Boris movie are sick is drawing a long bow.

The sad thing is that because of a hack journalist a player is going to be hauled over the coals for a stupid prank.

Then big mouth Cleary comes out and links it violence against women. Comon Phil if you are hanging your political ambitions on shit like this you are the sick one.

The good thing is that most people have seen it for what it is and over the top satire with a rubber chicken!

So it's a 'sick vid' ... some people need to lighten up. The Age needs to draw attention to themselves with breaking the news.. do they care where the 'sick & sorry' state of AFL footy is heading as a spectacle which is far more disturbing than a satire piece that is depicted on the MOVIE SCREENS world wide year in year out FFS!! slow day at the office. It's been pulled so they'll have to dig deeper to find more amusing stuff than the game itself.

'Rubber Chicken Sex Scandal'.

It was like I'd stepped into the Twilight Zone.
