Does this now mean that any Footage shown on "Aust.. Funn.. Home Video" that shows a dog humping a kid's leg the person should be up on charges!!

 I think Australia's Funnist Home Videos has higher standards than to allow anything like this. Not words I ever imagined myself saying.

I've calmed down since this morning but just feel so let down. I agree with Euge that it's not what the club is like, it's not criminal, and the best way to manage it is through education.

But I think it's letting the group who did this off the hook to say it wasn't premediated. They thought the idea was good enough they went ahead and made the clip. Then they thought highly enough of the video to post it online and leave it there for wider 'enjoyment'. I just find it incredibly disappointing that at no stage did ANY of the group think to suggest it was a bit rough or should be kept a private joke. I also think anyone who went through that whole process proud of the video and thinking it was funny should have the guts to stand up now and accept the embarrassment - but that's for the club to manage as it talks to them and works out how best to teach them. These guys need to learn something about women and about their own responsibilities to each other, the club and the community fast.

Don't worry, EH.

A few people 'round these parts will criticise the 'media' for their 'sensationalism' one moment, and then throw on their 'Constable Morality' badge the next -- the irony of this apparently lost on them.

Just say it.

This is clutching pretty tight. They are young blokes. I guarantee you that the thought process went no further than "lets F around with Little Boris". That said NOWHERE in the video is the steggles indicated as female...... It drinks a wine in the pub. That's as close as it gets. So? Men don't drink white wine now? It is a bit of a reach to say that they went out intentionally to make a video that was aimed at belittling women.

Kennett actually vaguely went in to bat for individualism and the need for young athletes to have the ability to be just that, individuals. Felt we as a society were trying to create angelic robots and it wasn't very a realistic attitude. My interpretation of the bit I listened to. I have a tendency to automatically blank Jeff out as soon as he starts talking.

Just announced in a newsflash:
Now a newspaper is threatening to publish names coz Euge would'nt name names.

Another press conference scheduled for this arvo now.

Sorry to jump on your board but I think you will find Kennett talks this way a lot (in support of the players) and people just miss it. For example, I can understand North fans being upset about what he said about North and Thomo last year, but I truely believe that he said it under concern for Thompson. Definitely shouldn't have said anything but heart was in the right place.

I am not suprised one bit that he might have stuck up for the players. I also hope this doesn't become a North thing as it could have happened at any club.

By the way I believe the interview can be listened too here: http://podsentral.com/node/248
It is based more about Beyond Blue and the chicken video is talked about at about the 10min mark.

Which part of my post did you not understand?

As an aside, I like the odd bit of random, abusive, foul language* as much as the next Regular Joe, but I hear there are more appropriate places for such frivolous musings.

*Boom-tish.

Am I being too aggressive again?

Not naming the players concerned is always a risky PR strategy - never works. All it does is fuel more media speculation about who was involved. The names are already circulating and I am sure some would be wrong. If so it doesn't help the players who have no imvolvement as they will all be under a cloud of suspicion. Name, shame, apologise and move on.

I don't like to think I'm overestimating them thinking they'd think the possible implications through at some stage between having the idea, making the video and posting it for public access. Not when I put my happiness in their hands every week!

I've never been a young bloke so I can only guess what if anything went through their minds. I doubt they aimed to belittle anyone. I expect they just thought it was hilarious and didn't expect it to be seen so widely. I just wish one of them had given it a bit of sensible thought...

I think Phil Cleary is a massive flog and should shut up ...for all we know the chicken could of infact been 2 males !! ?? Phil should should check himself to see if he still is .....

Its clearly a joke that turned out bad ...overblown bullsh#t again .....silly yes bad taste yes but callous or purposely degrading to women def NOT ...
Clutching at straws!
"Wine for the lady" would suggest it is about heterosexual chickens.

Whether you excuse it, are offended by it, or couldnt care either way, I just can not figure how 2 grown men (they are senior players!!) could possibly get their kicks out of producing such a product. Very very small minds.:thumbsdown:

Thought the same thing - it's like the Shagga story again. The media is already threatening to publish names, and if they are kept in house all the players are tarred with the same brush. Get on with it and get over it.

If they were young blokes the ymight well have named them. But given who it is, it is probably just way too embarassing and thus safer to let it remain rumor.

I cant imagine what one player in particular's wife might think about it, let alone either of their mothers.

Some of the names are already known and will surprise. Get on with it. All we are doing IMHO is dragging the matter out. If we name, shame and apologise story is dead and buried. I liked Euge's words early but the club can't keep the names in house so face it and get it over.

Whilst I understand and appreciate your view H2H. The video received 200-250 views on YouTube. It was hardly "widely seen". The crux of the matter is most young males don't think. It is why we are statistics in most things. I agree an apology for those offended is forthcoming. Really though it would not have raised this much ire if the clubrooms had not been shown.

My brother hands wine to his boyfriend when we go to pubs and says "wine for the lady". Although quite possibly referring to a woman it is not so clear cut. We can get all micro pedantic if you would like.

The real question is why are YOU so upset by this incident. Are you a chicken farmer? Maybe a magician?

This is the weakest, beat up story i can remember having anything to do with football. Honestly, who cares, who would be "offended" at this nonsense.

Just another bullshit media beat up. If this is the big story of the week than god help us.

Not upset. Just think its pathetic, and even more so that people cant figure why some may think it is sick. Know any DV victims? Rape victims?
Would they find it funny? Would any Kanga women who are victims of above possibly look upon their heroes in a lesser light now, maybe??

My thoughts would not be any different if it were my club either.

Exactly.

I dont know how two chickens ****ing can get this much coverage. Shit, If I was an AFL player, I'd probably be kicked out of the club by week 2.

Your views are exactly why I have never had a problem with Geelong and its supporters. Hawthorn on the other hand is a bunch of w***ers.

I wish I could say a few things on the issue by using an analogy or two, but I don't wish to create more work for TT.

I never said it wasn't sick. I never said I didn't understand the views of those offended. What I am failing to understand is why the immature antics of a few football players, that was posted on Facebook/YouTube has got so blown out of proportion that the actions of a woman beater are starting to drift off into the shadows.

There are more important things in society to worry about than a misguided prank video that ended up in the hands of people it wasn't obviously intended for. Posting things on Facebook is a risky situation. Maybe the players didn't realise that their profiles were not private. Hell I have been on there for 2 years and only just figured out that my profile wasn't private.

Due to ignorance and a bit off immaturity they now deserve to be dragged, hung and quartered if the opinion of some is heard. Let them apologise and move on from it.
