Reportedly GWS contract offer wasn't what Lobb thought he was worth

As ruck he sure is. Check out the amount of hit outs he has got the last two years. I get hes playing fwd but as a fwd he struggles.Lobb is not terrible, he's just not worth 700k a year
Marshall is elite, I dont think anyone thinks Lobb is as good as Marshall. Lobb is a good fwd/ruck, Marshall is a starAs ruck he sure is. Check out the amount of hit outs he has got the last two years. I get hes playing fwd but as a fwd he struggles.
Compare Marshall's season last year to Lobbs. It's like chalk and cheese.
There is no world where we are losing Cerra and we need to salary dump Lobb
??? What are you two even on about lol.Freo say it's two seasons contracted remaining.
Freo has to find $750,000 for four years to spend because Cerra is moving home. There's no salary cap issue.
We seem to have a different ideas of a salary dump. Just because a trade is done for a player on an inflated contract, does not make it a salary dump. The term has specific connotations of "needing to get rid of the salary"??? What are you two even on about lol.
You don't need to be under salary cap pressure (in fact no-one cares that you have spare room), for this Lobb trade to be a salary dump. Anytime you're DUMPING an overpriced/overpaid player's salary onto another club's books, that's a salary dump. And because the receiving club loses out on salary cap (which is a form of currency), the player's value gets significantly discounted as a result.
And this "needing to find $750,000 for 4 years to spend" idea is even more ridiculous. There are a billion ways for you to capitalize on this additional cap, you can push contracts forward to have more room later on. You can attract FA targets. You can leverage it via creative contract structures by walking your targetted player to the PSD, etc. etc.
Ultimately, it doesn't matter what the situation is, no one wants to pay $700k for a player who barely deserves $350k.
Best case scenario you do a Treloar deal, trade Lobb + multiple later picks across the 2nd and 3rd round + pay a huge amount of Lobb's salary for WBD's pick 17.
But you are not getting anything near the top 10 or even the top 20 in a straight swap if the opposition club has to pay $700k a year for this spud lol, not even WBD who is desperate for a ruck
Shouldn't freo come out and say he's not going anywhere then no matter what the offerYou seem to have a different ideas of a salary dump. Just because a trade is done for a player on an inflated contract, does not make it a salary dump. The term has specific connotations of "needing to get rid of the salary"
We dont need to dump Lobb, we dont want to dump Lobb. That is pretty consistent messaging from the club and not one journalist has said Freo are shopping him or want him gone, it's Colin Young shopping him around. It's also common sense since we dont have anyone to replace him with. If Lobb is traded, it will be because some club is willing to pay a stupid price in draft picks to make it happen, not with the intention to clear cap space, even if that's a side benefit
I should probably be clearer, we've specifically said he's contracted, not going anywhere and a required playerShouldn't freo come out and say he's not going anywhere then no matter what the offer
Avoiding to do so is buying into the shopping of a player
Well that ends that thenI should probably be clearer, we've specifically said he's contracted, not going anywhere and a required player
He kicked 20 goals from 13 games. If Marshall went into the no.1 ruck role full time Lobb would be about as good a replacement for him as anyone in the comp for that forward/ruck role.Lobb is terrible. He is no Ryder or Marshall replacement
Someone like SPS would be on more then that and what does he offer. There are not that many forward/rucks in the comp so Lobb easily gets $500k plus per season in the open market.Reckon Lobb should be the last of the overrated ruck/forwards to get an overinflated contract (not saying he is overrated, but his role is). Serviceable tall, deserves $350k-400k max
And this is it.Someone like SPS would be on more then that and what does he offer. There are not that many forward/rucks in the comp so Lobb easily gets $500k plus per season in the open market.
Coach did just that as did Lobb after his exit meeting.Shouldn't freo come out and say he's not going anywhere then no matter what the offer
Avoiding to do so is buying into the shopping of a player
That would be stupid by his manager as it means the 1.4 mill can be spread over 3-4 yearsCoach did just that as did Lobb after his exit meeting.
Colin Young is trying to extend his 28 year old players contract, given his form and injuries in 2021
****ing seriouslyHave heard the Dogs are keen
Lobb has sown more than what the saints picked at pick 1 in the 2014 AFL draft!Lobb is terrible. He is no Ryder or Marshall replacement
Really, you’re trolling a guy who’s had his life and AFL career ruined by concussions that made his life a living hell?Lobb has sown more than what the saints picked at pick 1 in the 2014 AFL draft!
I think he's Trolling Defacto.Really, you’re trolling a guy who’s had his life and AFL career ruined by concussions that made his life a living hell?
Nearly every club has a ruck/forward, the problem is that not many of them are good. You need somebody to perform the role but to spend $500k+ on one is a waste of cap spaceSomeone like SPS would be on more then that and what does he offer. There are not that many forward/rucks in the comp so Lobb easily gets $500k plus per season in the open market.
