Traded Rory Lobb - [Traded to the Bulldogs for #30 and F2]

This trade is not going to happen if the Dogs are sensible. We are absolutely going to hold out for genuine overs.

For Freo this ticks a number of boxes. By not bluffing about being prepared to keep Lobb it helps bring his manager to heel (he either has to help get the overs or fail to move his client). If he stays it helps the forward line and if he goes on a good enough trade then we have currency and extra space to do something meaningful and made Colin burn favours to get it.

There is nothing material to be gained from letting him go for a fair deal. All we would get is slightly more than we would the year after (1/3 less than not that much) and have handed another victory to Young.

Why do does everyone think Young keeps talking about Jackson on trade radio? That's not aimed at Freo or the Dogs. He's try to suggest to Melbourne to hold out for more to try and force Freos hand on a Lobb trade.

It's win win for us not to be bluffing
Hopefully both clubs move on quickly then.

I’m confused why they really want him. Last year I would have given him away for free but he actually had a crack about 50% of the time this year and played some good footy. I don’t see how he makes them a better side given their current talls. If they really want him they will pay up.
Glowing endorsement.

I do you said they had similar stats when they really don’t
So their stats for 2022 are actually quite similar but that's not the point I was trying to make.

The OP said that pick 29 is fair based on 11 disposals and 1.7 goals per game. But Naughton went at 11.6 and 2.3 in 2022 so are you saying he's worth only a little bit more than pick 29? No of course not, he's worth a hell of a lot more than that. You wouldn't take pick 11 in a trade let alone 29. Lobb isn't equal to Naughton but he's hell of alot closer to being worth pick 11 than he is pick 29.

In what universe is 36 goals similar to 51? They’re not even remotely similar then you look at age and previous production and it’s not even close you tried and failed

Skimmed through the last couple of pages. Lobb is willing to leave for a pay cut. It was never about money. He'll be getting 750k next year if he stayed but will be payed under 500k if he leaves.

He is a good forward but he's not 1 that'll command a first round pick. Especially at the age of 30.

As for Bell he has been spinning this game for years at trade. No one is going to give him what he wants.

are you seriously trying suggest that 15 goals isn’t a lot? That’s essentially 1/4 of the goals kicked by the Coleman winner
Again, the original post said that the player scoring 1.7 goals a game isn't worth a first round pick. If that's the case then what's the player scoring 2.3 goals a game worth?

That would be a genuinely laughable demand.

You're welcome to trade for another 205cm contested marking tall forward who can ruck.

In fact, if you can find another one in contract somewhere of the same age and arrange to have them traded to Fremantle for a second round pick I'd be content with that too.

The issue for me is that Fremantle are expected here to accept a deal for a contracted Lobb that wouldn't give us the currency to buy a replacement exactly the same as him. That's not acceptable when he is contracted.

And I'm comfortable with him playing for us next season.

It gets to the point where you are known as a club that doesn’t let players move, just because they want to play in WA at one time things change. It works the same way when you get players who want to join your club.

Find another club who has a player like Lobb under contract that will take a pick around #29 for them.

Why should Freo have to?

We haven't had issues attracting players lately.

On what planet is that how any of this works? The Dees aren’t getting another 20 year old Rising Star winner for whatever picks they get for Jackson.

Not asking for anything to do with Jackson.

Just find another player 27 to 30 who can play tall forward and ruck a bit, kick 35 or so goals a year that is under contract who will be traded for pick #29.

When you don't find anyone, that's why Freo shouldn't either.

Sam Day? Literally has a year to go on his contract and is a fwd/ruck who could kick 35 goals in a season.

He's never kicked more than 19 in a season and played ten games in two years.

Who else can you find? Lobb is clearly a better option than Sam Day

He's only kicked 19 in a season because he's been playing in a team of kids and cooked fringe players. If he was in a team like freo he could be as good as Lobb.

A swap of firsts would be meaningless for both freo and dees. It's only a 2 place difference. Dees would rather have a pick like 29 with 13 than 11..

Not a swap of firsts, swapping Lobb for either #11 or #15
