Reeves would have slept well. He was absolutely knackered halfway through the final quarter but kept going. An impressive performance that earned a Yabby vote from me.

Currently rewatching the game and seeing all the things I missed from the stands, have to say one of those most pleasing things is all the new players that have come in this year and drafted is the smarts of the team is coming back.

Those minor things but it makes a huge difference with how we move the ball.

We won. This place made for people to vent when we lose. Check the GameDay thread - one quarter in and there were people lining up to pot the players and the coach. They no doubt would have filled the 20 pages of rage if we lost but we didn't.

You carrying on about moderators being dictators and stifling your free speech (the same free speech you just used to tell us you don't have free speech) is a bit ridiculous. It's a bit like the Bacchae by Euripedes at the moment - there is a new era at the club you luv. You can choose to get on board or two you can choose to criticize those who do - which is all a bit rich given its round one. Hope you are well and happy.

I’m guessing that North poster in our preview thread is glad that CJ was so under done.

Almost like that guy on twitter posting that the Hawks were so bad that they're likely to go 0-23 and then swiftly deleting his tweet before the final siren but not before someone managed to take a screen shot and repost it. Gotta love Hawthorn fans in that we never forget and take an us against everyone mentality.

I like that we won and that we dug ourselves out of a bit of a hole but… north were poor.

Gunston and Lewis had very favourable matchups and not much pressure through the midfield. A nice game to be a forward. Our backs worked well but again Nth fwds hardly a frightening proposition.

We will find out a lot more this week. Port are a good team but not a bad time to get them - seem to be starting the season slowly and a few injuries. I don’t expect to win but a competitive showing interstate would tell us more than yesterday did.

I like the mixing up of the midfield. Suspect some is necessity from players being underdone but also some accelerated development of youth and building versatility in the older bunch.

Losing would have been concerning. We did the job but the next 2-3 weeks will tell us much more about where we are at.

Many thanks! Absolutely love this story - has gone from 'he'll never play a game' to trouncing NicNat and Gawn's HTA stats and being on par with Grundy's HTW and HTA. For those decrying why we didn't go recruiting state league rucks on the weekend - I'm pretty damn content with Reeves!

Ironically Sicily lined up on 200+ cm players quite a lot, and every time he did he looked nowhere near 10+ cm shorter than them. I think that 189cm measurement of him might be from when he was drafted and not fully developed.

It's absolute inaccurate - Dominic03 said a week or so ago that he was about 193cm. If you look at Sicily's Instagram he's got a few photos with him standing next to Dallas Willsmore who was listed at 192cm and they look basically the same height. 189cm is well out of date now I think.
