Roughead has done absolutely nothing to warrant a spot as of yet.

Roughead should be no exception to the rule that we pick blokes on form. Roberts seems to be one suffering from this and Roughead should be no different just because he's "apparently" versatile.

Currently master of nothing and even at VFL isn't grabbing the game by the scruff of the neck in a set position. Seems to just float from spot to spot and do a serviceable job. Serviceable doesn't cut it in this team from my perspective.

I actually don't think Rough is versatile I think he is simply not great at anything but not awful. Much rather go with Collins Adams and Red.

Rough isn't even in contention for mine

At the moment I strongly agree. Until Roughead has a 4 - 6 week stretch where he dominates in the solitary position (whether thats the ruck or in the forward line - I don't really mind) but currently he shouldn't even be looked at.

2 goals and 15 hitouts is absolutely minimum from he should be delivering at VFL level. Has played 80 odd afl games and is in the peak of his career. Needs to deliver far more.

Roughead only comes in if Campbell is deemed unfit for me. I have him ahead of Will, though. Also really want to see more height down back so Hamling for Biggs.

I had Campbell as my first ruckman, but now I'm not so sure.
He's a better mark and kick than Minson, but Will seems to impose himself on the game more.
Tackles with intent and shows more desperation around the ballups.
Apparently he's injured so this is meaningless, but if it becomes a question down the track I'm favouring Minson as first ruck.

Assuming Adams gets a key post in round one, and has a shocker, is Beveridge the sort of coach that will give him another chance? I think he's shown plenty in the NAB challenge, and deserves a block of games similar to Roberts and Hamling last season
Bevo tailors his best 22 towards our opponent. Given you don't have big bodied forwards like Pav, he may rest him, but again, hard to say. None of us picked the changes he made last year, so your guess is as good as ours.

Best on on the weekends a good start though. You keep mentioning 2 goals and 15 touches, whered you get those stats? and is there any more from the weekends vfl game?

I get what youre saying but to be fair its a bit much to say he needs to dominate the one position when even at VFL level hes thrown around left right and centre, I think thats just what Bev wants from him.

I know we'd all love him to be a gun ruck or a gun forward/ruck but is it really that big a problem if he's just a serviceable utility whose just one part of the overall puzzle? I'm not sure it is.

If Rougheah was going to play why wouldn't he have been in the 24? I much prefer Roughead as a backman but he hasn't played there at all this year.

Being at the game on Saturday I would be surprised if Adams doesn't play, his speed to get to contests really stood out compared to the other defenders.

FB: Hanling, Morris, Wood
HB: Murphy, Adams, Boyd
C: JJ, Libba, Macrae
HF: Dahlhaus, Stringer, Hunter
FF: Dickson, Boyd, Daniel
Foll: Campbell, Stevens, Wallis

Inter: Picken, Bont, Roughhead, Suckling

Emerg: Minson (if Campbell is out), Dunkley, Hrovat.
That would be close to the mark for mine, with Biggs probably in for Roughy (Biggs was one of the guys rested for NAB 2 which is a fair indication).

I'm concerned about starting three underdone players (Dickson, Bont & Libba) with Hamling probably a game short of where we'd like him too but I can't see us leaving Dickson out with Crameri unavailable.

I agree in principal Dogsman16 nobody should be gifted games but like it or not Roughie offers the coaching staff a level of flexibility that will cause a fair bit of discussion come selection for round one.... Specially after what happened when BTC went down against Collingwood

Can't argue with that. He does provide somewhat of a safety blanket across the park even though currently I don't believe he deserves to be placed in this role at senior level.

Whilst I'm of the opinion he shouldn't be selected I'd certainly understand if we did select him.

I guess it depends on how BTC and Wilbur come up from injury... He may get a game by default?

I can't understand how some people what to question Libbas round 1 spot to bring in players that arnt even close to his 50% output.

Complete waste of time having him run around for Footscray while VFL players run around in the seniors making error after error.
It's not the bush. If the match committee or medical staff think Libbas underdone or needs to progress slowly after his injury they might decide to bring him back slowly through the VFL. Not sure anyone is suggesting he is not best 22 when fully fit.
Heard a couple of people just ask for others thoughts on Libba but I'm not sure I've even seen one person not include him though.
Are you using Libba as a means to have a dig at the other players on our list? Your error after error comments seem interesting in this regard.

C - Macrae - Wallis - Suckling
HF - Hunter - Stringer - Dahlhaus
