You guys must have set yourselves some seriously low standards for what you expect from Mackenzie

Emac`s game wasn`t that bad he got caught out a couple of times and the assistance from his teammates was pretty crap .IMO he was acceptable performance and a little rusty at times but this is only a RD 1 match ..

He was very, very poor.

This is how i rated Mackenzies game

raw

Don't sugar coat it, he was god awful. Thankfully Jarrad Waite plays for North.

care to give examples
Reckon he lost about 6 genuine contests where the spoil was on. That's a conservative estimate.

He's no longer Best 22, Simpson needs to realise this. He should have been traded last year. Fantastic player for the club but that injury has ended it all.

Was beaten in virtually every 1 on 1 he was involved in

disagree he impacted a few contests and got a good fist to the ball ,the only contest he was clearly beaten was when Pruess marked in front goal and maybe Brown on the lead but I doubt anyone could have got a fist to the ball ..

**** the eeyores on this board

A 43 point win on the road against a feisty opponent is a good result and I'll take that every day

Only a handful of players had games they wouldn't be happy with and several had very good games

When the guy who should be fourth in line of our tall defenders gets a game over two others more deserving and stinks it up then there's going to be some comment on it.

great start to the season with an away win in a solid contest.
Round one is invariably scrappy but we showed class in the later quarters in a way we rarely do on the road
heaps of improvement and some interning selection options- which is a positive.
the two Bne player were good contributors

For a game a lot of people were nervous about, it seems a 40 point win still isn't enough..

I thought Emac was well below AFL standard. Yes, he impacted a couple of contests but so any defender should. He lost many more. He needs to be replaced by Barrass. Jetta didn't get near it, Nelson was very ordinary early and Wellingham had a mare. Also, as much as Gaff gets the ball and runs, he has absolutely no acceleration and his kicking has been a bit of a worry since he got hit last year. All that said, a win away from home by that margin against a decent team, is a great effort. We were rusty but had a very good win. Yeo, Redden, JK, Mitchell, LeCras etc were great and good on Petrie playing out the game with a fractured hand. Will miss weeks but toughed it out for us.

There's a difference between being happy we won and wanting the team to play better though, there are definitely areas we can improve on and we would have likely struggled against a better team.

I think Simmo was worried about the JLT games after going a month without playing stronger opposition so wce could be improving on their practice games .There were a lot of rusty players making simple errors ..

I don't see this?

There were times where he would just float outside a contest for the easy ball or be too slow to react when a teammate had the ball and was in trouble.

Naitanui and Lycett crash packs and use their size and strength to their advantage. When a teammate is being tackled by two players and you're the closest player, you'd be expected to be there.. on a couple of occasions I saw he wasn't.

Will have to watch again, but I feel you're trying to compare him to NN... which is grossly unfair.

Agree and considering No Natanui against a team with a very taller rucking to compete against ..

Some of these posters are disgraceful supporters ..

I'll put my hand up here. Glad to be proven wrong and wear some egg on my face, emotion and booze can do things to a man. It was a solid win away, which is massive for us. Watching Adelaide, however has me fairly worried. Flags aren't won in March but geez they look good against quality opposition. Surely Mackenzie has to make way for Barrass and Nelson for Sheed. Lucky we have some half decent depth this year. Redden looked great, which is a huge plus for us.

Get off your high horse.

Mackenzie was poor and has been called out for it.

Apart from he, Wellingham and (first half especially) Nelson I think everybody would agree that the team played well.

Due to his contentious selection Mackenzie's performance was always going to be scrutinised.
