In: Brockman, Greaves, Finn, Jeka
Out: Hanrahan, Hartley, TOB, Shiels (managed)

I dunno, I didn't get to watch yesterday so i'm omitting 3 on stats only and just giving Shiels a rest so Finn can have another full run at it.
Sounds about right. If Reeves dominates today, he'd have to be a chance. BB needs a rest more than anyone.

I would also drop Shiels for anyone. Also you are spot on about backline. Those poor guys are constantly under pressure due to inability of midfield
Yeah Finn can come in for him, hopefully they do well today.

Out: this overcomplicated, uninspiring and totally detrimental to the playing group, and brining in more youth, game plan.

In: a simplified game plan, with a bit of spunk and attacking flair, dare I say some more youth? and put a bit of excitement back in the group.

Clarko needs to do a complete 180 on this BS game plan. We are keeping young players out of the team because of what they can't do yet, and because they don't know the 'system'.

Well newsflash, we are bottom 2. Change the damn system and work with brining the kids up to the level with an opportunity to use their attributes and gain confidence. Simplify it. Surge it forward and apply pressure. That's been the way of the best teams in recent years.

A burning question I have that I can't shake, is the greatest coach of all time starting to have concern for his legacy and the decisions he has made that have led to where we are? Does this impact decisions in our game plan, limiting damage, and at team selection?

We need to blow up midfield and start again. Will cop some pain but the current group are taking us nowhere.

Cousins, Scrim, Impey, Finn, reeves, CJ, downie, bramble, day when fit need to be given serious midfield minutes (including wings etc) to work out if can be part of midfield going forward. Might mean JOM, Mitchell and worpel need to be managed (are both fit? Not sure) or spend odd game at box hill to work on their ‘polish’.

Down back we’re stuck with Hartigan and frost for a while but hopefully DGB can play a few.

Up forward need to see more of brockman, Morris and Jeka.

We make cop some horrible losses as team adjusts to new faces but we’ve already wasted 9 rounds (close to half the season) playing a 22 that is taking us nowhere.

Outs - Big Boy (needs a rest), Hanrahan (no good), Hartley, Obrien, Shiels, Moore (sub)
Ins- Reeves, Brockman, Greaves, Jeka, Finn and Downie.

Its time to give these kids an extended run at the top level. It’s not about winning anymore, it’s about getting these kids to 40 games as quick as possible

Don't understand this about hanrahan.
He drifts in and out of games for sure, but he's one of the few players that actually appears to give a damn.
He may not be there when we next win a flag, but the value is currently there.

He’s keeping brockman out though. He drifts in and out of games, he’s a poor decision maker and doesn’t lay any tackles so what’s his value?

Howe needs to play at least he puts in 100% each week. The forward half pressure non existent today, North walked it out of their backline
If Howe plays then put him on the ball blocking for Mitchell or Worpel. With the outside player being Wingard or JOM.

NOT ON THE WING!

Disagree.
Moore is keeping brockman out.
The effort, the running, etc, is his value. There are 18 players who tackle as poorly as him, but show less effort without the ball.

He is insipid at the contest. In yesterday’s last qtr he was playing with his hair, as his opponent ran off and picked up a cheap possession.

Worst on Ground by a mile.

Brockman is keeping Brockman out. Ollie isn’t, nor is Moore.

If they thought he was able to do more of what was required on a consistent basis he plays. They’ve even put that in writing in the Box Hill reports from the coach.

The fact he’s not come in suggests, rightly or wrongly, that they still think he’s doing what is required for periods within games only, rather than the full 4 quarters.

Fingers crossed he ticks all the boxes today.

Morris and Howe very impressive for BH today.

Cegs had a poor first quarter but probably one of our best for the rest of the match with his marking around the ground. Reeves much less involved in general play but tap-work was often excellent.

Jeka started on fire then had decent patches throughout the game will finish up with plenty of marks and scoring shots.

Greaves mostly solid but beaten a few times by Ford. Not a performance that demanded selection.

Finn shadowing Phillips for most of the day and they just about cancelled each other out with quiet days.

Nash and Downie (movement limited with a quad injury) no chance.

I hear you but in the first 2 games (and in pre-season games where we won), at such a young age he made a critical difference already. Even Dunstall commenting was excited which is very unlike him commenting for Fox. We have very, very few players with potential 'x-factor' in our current list. Forward pocket players (including Breust) don't always play successful 100% contribution full 4 quarters. But when they are 'switched on', they can win games for us.
May I remind you also there was a guy who was frequently criticised by media as 'not giving his all full 4 quarters/drifting in and out' - he was called Cyril Rioli!
You could even say Mark Williams, Buddy and Gary Ablett was like that at times!

Box Hill had little meaningful opposition today (won by 108) but Howe (35 disposals) was very good. Jeka as well. Finn and Downie both played negative roles and didn’t get much of the ball. They are both mid paced unfortunately, similar to our older mids. Neither is ready. Reeves was Ok and Ceglar worked his way into the game well. Brockman didn’t play. Heard he has a niggle. Morris (5 goals) and Saunders also good.
Howe comes in. Maybe for Hartley.
Morris in for Hanrahan.
Burgoyne the sub to put him on track for 400 v Port.
Reckon the week after we give McEvoy a rest and play Reeves and Ceglar v GC.

Yeah, Howe dominant at Box Hill. But we know what he brings to the AFL outfit.
Therefore, if we try to solve for X by substituting Dan Howe as a constant, where X = AFL impact, what do we end up with?

Hopefully not just the square root of Ceglar.

Morris was V.good today, but he'll just be another starved forward at Hawthorn. Doesn't solve the core problem.

TOB was alright in the ruck today and as usual made it a lot of contests and almost marked a few rippers. Was not our worst.

TOB is at a stage in his career now where on the day 'making a lot of contests/was not our worst', drifting along as a decent A minus grade player, is no longer
good enough if we are to successfully re-build. Similar to many more senior guys in the side..
It's not helping that Clarko continues to throw him around persisting with him from forward/then back/then ruck ala Zac Dawson/Schoenmakers mode IMHO...
can wreck confidence if you're not a freak show like Bontempelli...
