Watching the replay, Williams, Drew, Lycett, Lord under rated but outstanding.

Butters just phenomenal as we all know. Rozee fantastic, JHF solid, but we don't win without the efforts of those 4 above.

Houston was prolific as well, SPP manic as always, Wines continuing to grow into it in the last couple weeks.

Overall such a phenomenal win. One of the best in many years.

Have said several times, but it's now all about consolidating the win by winning next week. We have the Hawks in 2 weeks. We just need to get through the Tigers and then suddenly the whole world becomes our oyster.

P.s. still can't believe Williams game. So ****ing good. Unbelievable turnaround in his career

Fantastic win.

I can't honestly remember such a sharp rise in output and performance in our squad in the span of a year.

I don't think anyone would have banked on Butters, Bergman, DBJ, JHF and Burton to produce this on the back of pre season/last year.

Only weakness appear our ruck stocks but may prove serviceable enough.

I don't remember being as convinced back in 2020/21 seasons despite the H&A wins. Clearly 2022 was a form slump with many players out of form/injured.

Fair bloody effort.
Decent square up, undermanned, due for a loss (footy Ju-Ju), completely miserable weather yet this team just digs deep.
The midfield led by Butters was outstanding and did a lot of heavy lifting against a very well respected and efficient opposition.
Defence was solid considering personnel and game day conditions. The same can be said of the forward line to a certain extent but what was most pleasing was that there wasn’t too many passengers.

Where the **** has Williams come from. The absolute clouds. He is making the extremely difficult look routine. I still cant believe it to be honest, i keep expecting him to fall off a cliff but it isnt happening.

Absolutely brilliant game. Just watched the second half on replay. Everybody went when it was their turn.

Imagine if we had Dixon, Marshall and Rioli out there and improved our efficiency inside 50.

I hate to get sucked in again, but we could be a contender maybe even this year.

I do want to call out one moment in the game as well... JHF made a mistake to give the Dees a kick inside 50, then a minute later inside 50 put the ball straight down a Demons throat for a mark inside 50 and a goal chance, which missed. So where does the kick in go? Straight back to JHF. This is the sort of team belief that delivers success. We've got each other's back. We trust each other, no matter what.

Yup. Clear as day mark.
What was lost is that it was a fantastic, athletic, highly skilful mark and very good finish.

And although I’ve not seen Williams shank one so badly before, the telepathic connection between good mates Williams and Lord must be something else for Ollie to anticipate exactly what was going on with that incoming kick.

Yep. Drew was fantastic.

But we can say that and call out Drew's good game, but Drew doesn't perform like that if he's not 5th banana.

Butters, Rozee, JHF, Wines, it's an insanely good list to have in front of you.

He'll never get a better time to play his role and develop as a footballer than with that talent around him.

Drew's now got the dream ride, if he can take advantage of the support around him and reach that next level our midfield will be insanely powerful.

Butters has changed the whole complexion of this team with his rise.
Drew was great last year and is his own man - your argument would say that Butters did what he did only because of the focus on Rozee and JHF. We actually have six good midfielders right now. Any of them can step up if one or two are tagged (although Wines is still building).

Our close margin wins is the most un-Hinkley like thing ever.

2 points vs Syd
5 points vs Ess
4 points vs Melb
7 points vs StK
14 points vs WB after trailing by 2 pts at 3QT

Felt like the footy gods felt sorry for us and restored the balance.
And the come-from-behind nature of each one of them. Reckon in all five games we trailed at some stage in the last quarter.

I am going to put in a special mention for the much maligned Scott Lycett who I thought did a pretty good job against the odds. The wet weather probably helped nullify the Melbourne height advantage but Lycett's physical presence was an improvement on Brynn Teakle. Scott Lycett probably won't make everyone's best player list but as one of those who has been hypercritical this year I am happy to give credit where it is due.

Our midfielders did what most of us knew they had to do and were outstanding. That was Zac Butters' best game for Port Adelaide as he showed amazing skills in the conditions.

The way the game started I thought the Umpire's were going to be a factor. I am still trying to figure out what that fifty that cost us the first goal was all about. On the night we got more free kicks than Melbourne but I suspect many of them were deep in defence. I will look at the reply to confirm those suspiscions.

Still missing Dixon, Marshall, Rioli and Duursma from our best team. Out would go Lord, Evans, Farrell and Bonner, with Burton going back into defence to replace Farrell, Duursma on the wing and Dixon, Marshall and Rioli to relieve Lord, the forward version of Burton and Evans.

Said at the start of the year that the inclusion of an explosive threat like Horne-Francis around stoppage would allow Butters and Rozee to elevate to another level. This midfield will be all time, and if we can keep the likes of Bergman and Williams happy, it could be dynastic.

This team has the fortitude to win a flag. You can see it in the way they continue to stick to the process no matter what the outcome and how they trust the system to deliver.
How do you not have Farrell best 22 ?

Browney mentioned this week that when Voss left he said "Rozee and Butters are like Simon Black and Luke Power", well if that's the case Drew is akin to Shart.

Did a hell of a job on "Trac", outplayed him in fact for at least the first half.
