First time clubs will play an 11th H&A game in a season.

Adelaide has a 4-0 record vs Geelong. Another win vs the Cats would give the Crows a second 5-0 H2H record (the first being vs St Kilda). NM (vs Carl & WB) the only club currently with two 5-0s.

A win or draw for North Melbourne against Gold Coast will see them go through a completed H&A season undefeated. They would be the 2nd or 3rd team to do that, depending on whether you count Fremantle's 2020 being a completed H&A season (Brisbane were the first back in the inaugural 2017 season).

Advice for people wanting to attend Richmond v Hawthorn: Like the last few games at Punt Road, tickets will sell out. But they are still available right now, so don't be an idiot by waiting to get in at the last minute.

Weather around the country should be fine for all games. Showers probably clearing in time for Sydney's 3pm start, while Port and Freo look like they'll avoid games in 30+ degrees by virtue of playing on Sunday.

The whole premise of the H/A season is to establish the finals and then the GF.
To not recognise that in determining the best preformed Club is just dumb.

AFL's appeal failed so Eilish Sheerin is free to play on Sunday, in a game which is looming as rather inconsequential for the Tigers. They should be beating Port in an EF, wherever it's played.

But it's a match which could prove to be very important for the Hawks who are playing for a week 1 home final, in addition to a million big ones.

Coming off an 8-point defeat, their heaviest in around 700 days, the Crows now have a tricky assignment to avoid their first instance of back-to-back losses since 2020. Might start off a bit flat tonight, but I think they'll do enough to keep the possibility of a top 3 finish alive for at least another ~36 hours.

Essendon comfortably beat Carlton last year and I don't see a strong enough reason to suggest that won't happen again on Saturday, now that Bonnie Toogood appears to have bounced back from injury. Bombers should be putting it to bed before any potential carryover fatigue from NT kicks in.

St Kilda comfortably beat Brisbane last year but it seems far less plausible to happen again on Sunday due to the never-ending 8-week injury of Georgia Patrikios.

Bit boring to just tip all 9 favourites, so I'm backing the Bulldogs to pull off an upset at Fremantle Oval where the Dockers have been very poor in 2024. Think it's the first time I'm tipping the Dogs since the disastrous R2 MCG game, though they've since gone 4-4.

St Kilda comfortably beat Brisbane last year but it seems far less plausible to happen again on Sunday due to the never-ending 8-week injury of Georgia Patrikios.

Here was my hypothesis before Round 1:

If Smith lifts from something like 14 to 18 touches per game and Richards 7 to 12, the Saints will improve on last year even without Patrikios' 17, such is the difference in footy IQ.

With one round to go, Smith has averaged 15.9 and Richards 10.0. Promising signs but not quite enough of what they needed this year.

What really did them in, however, was less so performance across the entire season, and more so the timing of their quieter games (particularly v Frem and WB). Tyanna Smith had her worst game of the season last week while fellow top 2020 draftee Jess Fitzgerald put in arguably a new career best performance.

I'll be interested to see how a Hawthorn win at Punt Road, if it eventuates, is handled and celebrated on-field.

Shouldn't be any need to wait until the W Awards to present the McClelland Trophy in this scenario. And as for the male players who cbf'd turning up on Sunday to support the club, they shouldn't get a cut of the million imo.

Confirmed by Richmond today, third in a row. The AFL used to love announcing sell outs for women's games... but I guess they realise it only brings up more pesky questions about playing in bigger venues?

4 not particularly tough misses by the Crows in Q1. Charlton's probably the worst considering it wasn't even close. Looked like a player lacking confidence in her kicking atm, which goes a long way to explaining why all 11 of her disposals last week were handballs.

14-point deficit at HT for Adelaide... gonna need a resurgence in the style of R5 when they were down by 16 late in Q2 vs Brisbane, then kicked 4 of the next 5.

Both teams very erratic this year so who knows if Adelaide's Q3 dominance will continue down the home straight.

Geelong in the final 2.30 made more mistakes than in the previous 15 minutes, starting with Aishling Moloney letting one bounce off her chest from 20m out directly in front.

Scoreless night for her, leaving the door ajar for Taylor Smith to toepoke a couple through on Sunday and share the goal kicking award, or three to win it outright.
