Farm you say? Hows the pest control going? ( subtlety not subtle).Flying down from Qld for this game, a win of any sort would be great. Weather looks fine, such a change from the drenching my farm has got up here. Would be good to see Robbo back, his fire and energy after a couple of weeks out would be good for any complacency. Good to see Cam continuing his development into a real weapon and Hippy's continued recovery from the knee. Let's just get the points, anyway how and come on home.
Danger game. Lost this one last year in a similar scenario when Hawks were paying $5 for the win.
Sadly winning every game doesn't guarantee success (see the Saints 'The Streak' for details or Port Adelaide during the 3-peat) - yes the 'players' need to believe they can do it and will do it and we have to win enough games to be right up there but the games that really count (and which we need to start winning) are the Finals. To be fair, we are so invested in this season every game looms as a threat.
Damn it!! We NEED to win every game to prove we are worthy of the big cheese.
I can't say the actual words cause I don't want to jinx us.
I'm doing my daily chant (we are the lions, we are worthy) double today for having the gall to post this.
Well written.Sadly winning every game doesn't guarantee success (see the Saints 'The Streak' for details or Port Adelaide during the 3-peat) - yes the 'players' need to believe they can do it and will do it and we have to win enough games to be right up there but the games that really count (and which we need to start winning) are the Finals.
But yes there is both the calm acceptance that we will win as we go into each match with the awareness that any game may be a loss on the day - but the good teams still have more wins to losses and mitigate temporary setbacks much better (see Q2 vs Q3 the Swans).
There was a line from an old book in E.E.Doc Smith's Lensman series iirc where it describes Kimball Kinnison as having 'a conscious maturity that no young man could know' ... teams with maturity can handle a game or two loss without the fragile falling apart* thing kicking in.
*Some fans cannot handle 5 mins with the opposition having momentum (see any random GameDay Thread except maybe vs North this year)
Named bench > [2] Deven Robertson,[4] Callum Ah Chee,[5] Mitch Robinson,[13] Thomas Berry,[16] Cam Rayner,[18] Keidean Coleman,[20] Jaxon Prior,[21] Tom Fullarton
Jack Payne goes down back to cover for Marcus Adams (Covid), Tom Fullarton goes up front?
Out- Adams.
Ins- Fullarton, Robertson, Lester, Robinson.
Maybe Prior goes out for Dev/Mitch/Tom?
Lester is named in the run on squad so I think Payne will stay forward and Lester to play back.Yeah, I'd be inclined to agree with that. Probably prefer Payne going back to take the role of Adams rather than Gardiner taking over his role & then Lester coming in to take Gardiners role.
Wouldn't mind seeing fullarton getting a run as a forward. Any one of Dev / Mitch / TBerry would be a good in this week, prior to get a spell.
Lester is named in the run on squad so I think Payne will stay forward and Lester to play back.
They are named the other way around though.Didn't see that. Yep, tend to agree then. Cheers.
They are named the other way around though.
But they have named Payne down back in all three games he has played.
Completely agree, I think that is why Payne has been named over Fullarton during this stretch, with others out.My first impression is that maybe they have doubts over Fullarton's contested marking & bringing the ball to ground for our fleet of mid / small forwards. If Payne was to take Adams' role, then I don't really see a need to play Lester at all.

It allows our smalls to go to work.
