I know it's a very important personal milestone, but if he's got the flu that's going around, surely sitting him on a plane for the flight to Perth with the rest of his team mates, won't be even considered. However if it's only a minor injury, then being the sub is the way to go.

Stick him on the red-eye with the regular punters tomorrow morniong. He can recover in Margaret River and then pop back Saturday night. Some R&R, a drop of red and voila, he'll be a new man.

But as a ruckman? how has he gone?

I'm ok if he plays as the main ruck (which is what he's done in his past 3 VFL games)

The coach to his credit dropped him and then played him as a FT ruckman in the VFL.
Quality of opposition, (in VFL) is irrelevant, it’s about mindset and changing his game.

Its funny.....everyone keeps bringing up the opposition being sub standard.
Which it has been (in the VFL).

But that's not his problem.

It appears the guy can't win.
IMO, he's done everything that has been asked and not dropped his head.
As you said, mindset is good and he looks involved.

Imagine the people on here if Begg put up the numbers Cox has in the ruck over the past 3 games....

Bring in Reef for Sidey if he's crook. Cox has earned his place back in the side. Stop the BS about managing Begg and the idea he is our developing ruckman! He is not a ruckman!

Agreed. Begg looks a likely type, but he's not a ruckmans backside. It's time to give Coxy an extended run at it to see if he can offer something different in the ruck. Cameron has shown he's not a hitout winning ruckman either. Solid Forward/Ruck though.

The point is valid except for the slight issues of having 8 guys over 195cm on the injury list.

I think putting Begg up against Darcy is not going to do his development any good. I reckon we'll go with Cox

Based on Begg having one poor game this year. What do we aim to achieve by playing Cox? He is shit and has struggled massively this year.

When has he ever shown anything in the ruck. Beating up teenagers in the VFL is about as good as it gets for him. Sean Darcy will dominate any ruckman we play

Begg needs to go back the VFL and work on his forward game, sucks that with injuries he will have to play ruck though but his best option going forward is Forward/ Ruck relief.
