Can’t believe people are suggesting McCreery goes out. Until there is someone else in the side that is lightning quick and hits like a truck he stays in. Finally a genuine defensive pressure prospect, as opposed to incumbents from years before where defensive pressure was merely code for adequate (not good) at applying pressure and incapable of winning the ball themselves.
I agree, but he didn’t get a single stat for an entire half of footy and that’s not good enough to keep your spot, particularly when you’ve got guys the calibre of Elliott and Ginnivan coming back in to the team.

I doubt bringing Cox in for Begg is going to make much difference. Might as well keep playing Begg, who unlike Cox has upside and will improve with exposure to senior footy.
Playing senior footy isn’t a magic bullet that improves players, particularly if they’re not ready for it. Begg needs to go back and develop his forward craft to play the role we actually need him for.

Experience and getting games into young players is generally believed to improve them.

He can kick the pill. We’ve kept someone who’s incapable of kicking on the list for 6 years. Happy to give fin time. I’ve watched all the vfl games and he’s been solid without being outstanding.
Yes, he's shown enough with ball in hand in terms of both skill and composure at VFL to keep around.

I'm spitballing, as at the moment, he's pretty limp when he doesn't have the ball in his hand. He just looks like a poor athlete by AFL standards, who appears to play with low energy and competitiveness.

Pendles back if fully recovered. Out C.Brown.
Elliott back. McCreery out.
Ginnivan back. Poulter or T.Brown out.
Cox in. Begg out.
Ruscoe or Murphy in. Madgen out.

Murphy ahead of ruscoe, for me. We have some really good VFL players, but Murphy and Jetta stood out as players who looked much better than the standard the game was played at yesterday.

Out: C Brown In: Elliott
Out: Macrae In: Ginni
Out: Madge In: Pendles
Out: Begg In: Roughy (Fingers crossed)

He’s a real mixed bag in that role. But 3 possessions and 0 tackles is very poor

In saying that I blame the coaches for letting him wilt there the other night… and not mixing it up and throwing him on ball.

We certainly needed an injection of physicality at the coal face
Started the year very well, then hasn't really hit his straps since coming back from injury. Showed signs against the tigers and then laid flat with the flu. Willing to give him a mulligan for Friday night

Or break them if they’re not ready. See: Jack Watts

You forget these “seniors” offer on field leadership that’s invaluable for the kids. Look at how rudderless NM are without leaders. Their youth are stagnanting for that exact reason.

No I don’t forget
we already have enough of them in the team.
Playing a guy like Cox... who isnt going to be here next season is pointless.
It’s also pointless in the objectives of where we are at as a club.

Henry stays in.

You dont take 6 marks inside 50 with multiple opportunities for goal and drop him. Was out best forward just couldn't capitalize. Which was not just on him, but a whole team thing.

and we don't have any better Options

String a few more top tier performances together and wait for his opportunity
What better opportunity than the utter humiliation being dished out to us at the centre bounces and our total impotency in the forward line? King dropped nearly every mark he attempted yesterday yet his value was extreme because the opposition never marked it either. If that's all Cox does that's more than enough.

I suspect they'll want more than 1 good game from murphy before promoting him. Like they have done with those that have been promoted.
Especially coming off an injury
The cupboard is bare and Ruscoe hasn’t been great. Circumstances can change selection criteria.

Begg is not ready to cope with the sustained demands of AFL as many others have said. Cox has shown good form in the VFL and is the logical replacement.
It’s got nothing to do with the future and everything to do with protecting Begg.

Begg will get eaten alive by Darcy and Lobb - best thing to do for his development is to play Cox this week.

I’m convinced we’ve been flat due to the flu going through the club and three 6 day breaks in a row. Think we’ll bounce back hard this week
Lobb was sh!thouse today.

A few more senior players got few stats or effective stats in a half of footy
