Leaning towards:
Hayes > Hinge
Petch > sexy Robbie

I wanted Daniel or Cameron this week, but I have to fix my cash gen issues.

Would be really handy if 1-2 if Setters, Hayes and Drew were named this week. Or Young for the $20k price rise. :moustache:

Good moves, SS. Hayes wasn't in the bests for Footscray on the weekend. Doubt we'll be seeing him again anytime soon.

That might actually help us, because now it would be a real Bevo move to bring him back.

Had 22 touches, 3 marks and 4 tackles on the weekend, but his DE is the issue. 13 kicks and only 5 were affective.

People get so ansty and think they have to trade every week. It’s funny :)
And some people genuinely do have to trade every week. :'(

With the good Rockliff news, only 1 trade this week.

Lockhart > Hinge (or any rookie that is named for their 3rd game).

300k and 16 trades ready for the bye rounds.

Must say i simply don't understand the Robbie Gray fascination.

1 ton from 7 games. Averaging 78, coming back from injury with his last four scores being 72, 45, 54 and 89.

A real must have
If he was getting midfield time than Gray is always worth a shout.

I just don't see him getting consistent midfield minutes, and Port aren't a good enough team to rely solely on his attacking output generating big scores.

I'm sure he'll have big scores and could be a very handy F7 loop option, but for now I think he's a big risk.

With that said though, if he does get good mid minutes and Port improve, he could easily be a fantastic trade. Just no way of telling right now.

He was carrying an injury for the first 6 weeks and is a proven scorer, averaging over 90 in each of his last 5 seasons. No reason why he can't do that again now he's fully fit.

Spending <400k for a 85-90 average (worst case scenario you'd think) who has the ability to become f7 when cash generation is as dire as it is, there's plenty of worse picks than that

Personally, I'm waiting to see a ton before I jump on him. Even 415k could be a bargain. Will be interesting to see his midfield minutes when Wines returns

Exactly. Sounds like a real luxury acquisition if you ask me.

Wait until you see improvement in his scoring and a consistent role before bringing him in. He's 31 after all.

90BE. Would be surprised if he hits that straight up.

Nobody is saying he's a must have, he's just a good cheap option to bring in in round 13 to strengthen your byes, especially so because round 13 and 14 are the hardest bye rounds
Most will bring him in as a temporary M8, or as their F6, some with the intention of keeping him as a cheap M9/F7
Stack + $65k will get me Gray, noice!

You don't care that Stack has scored more tons than Gray this year and is averaging pretty much the same?
It’s the name game. Gray over Stack makes it sound like an extra premo on the field, but that’s just not the reality this year.

Weren't we just discussing getting premos in before they go on scoring runs?

Robbie was being played pretty much as a full time small forward whilst carrying injuries, which goes some way to explaining the dud scores.

What has changed since then... is he over his injuries? Is he getting midfield time now? Will he continue to get midfield time? If the answer is yes to all 3 then he is a must have at sub 400k.

It's not what they have averaged so far, it's what they average from here on. By that logic Walsh > Dusty for instance isn't even an upgrade. Obviously not a good move if you expect Stack to keep averaging the same as Gray though.

Gray averages 95 without Wines in the team this year.

Or maybe he was injury affected in those 3 rounds with Wines.

Either way, may be worth a punt as M9/F7.

Biggest positive with him is he is a warm body during round 13 and 14 and he doesn't even require a downgrade. Worth the risk for 90+ potential. If the rumours of him carrying a knee injury were true then the month off definitely helped him. DPP is also handy.

Anyway unsure why this is an argument, just don't pick him lol. Post your team, I'm sure you have some risks in there that we can critically analyse (don't I'm just joking)

They need to show at least a modicum of scoring ability before you take the punt on them coming good. There has to be a REASON for their spud score and price.

People are talking about locking in Gray like he's actually done something.

Otherwise gee, after bringing in Gray I'm gonna add Kade Simpson in at 400k to complete my DEF. He's a "proven premo" too.

After that I'm swooping on Jelwood at 470K to round out my mids. We know he can average 110+ right gaiz?

You make it sound like Gray is completely unproven when playing in the mids. Take most midfielders and chuck them into a forward pocket role and see what they average, because it's not going to be any better than Gray, injured or not. If he has had a midfield role change, there is no reason to suggest that he won't average a minimum of 90ppg in that role based on output from playing that role as recently as the first half of last season. My only query is will the coach keep him there or swing him deep forward asap.
