Haven't seen the team's Essendon have announced yet, but some Essendon fans think it's likely that Goldstein will be rested and Nick Byran will be the starting ruck. A Moyle vs Bryan matchup is possible. I think the last time Moyle and Bryan clashed was in the VFL in July 2023, where Moyle was soundly defeated in hitouts, disposals, and tackles. Bryan is also coming off a 23 disposal, 46 hitout, 10 clearance game in the VFL, albeit against an undersized Richmond top-up player.

EDIT: Never mind, teams were released and Goldstein stays. Wasted my time looking through old Nick Bryan stats.

Don't mind them rotating through the young players. Surprised that Walter held his spot.
He’s a young KPF, the only way he’s going to get better is by getting more experience and game time. KPF always take the longest time to develop. Dropping him will only hurt his confidence - case in point: he was dropped after such a dominant performance against north and hasn’t been able to find that form again yet. Walter should be playing every week, he’s our future. Besides, what’s the alternative a cooked Sam Day or Casboult?

He’ll get alot of tackles paid too.

The boys are good with their hands they just prefer to take the contact to make space.

Our tackljng pressure will get rewarded
Yeah our midfield if you gotta give them anything are tackling beasts
This rule just feels like it’s being enforced to punish players like Rowell & Libba who hold onto the pill with brute force before giving off a handball

Walter was sore after North game and did not get up on 5 days break. Pretty simple.

Sam Day has legit been great this year.
Jed wasn't dropped, he was given a rest because he is a 18yo playing his first season and should be given all the time he needs, especially after playing in Darwin for the first time.
He got destroyed last week by a good Carlton backline.
It's not because he got dropped, it's because he is a 18yo kid who is still figuring out how he fits into the AFL.

It looks like Moyle vs Bryan. Goldstein not on the plane apparently.
That's huge if it's true. Seems like the club knows when an opposition player is likely to miss (even if they are initially named) like we saw in the Geelong game when Witts and Stanley were both rested. Moyle vs Bryan seems far more manageable for us. We just need to make sure our other mids step up and beat their mids in the contest. Can't afford another performance like last week.

The good part is that a top 8 position appears to be up for grabs if we win this one after Collingwood's loss last night.

Well yeah, one of the big criticisms for the previous HTB interpretation was player safety, as it incentivized sling tackles to force the ball carrier to go to ground. Simply blowing the whistle earlier is going to be far better for player safety, which is what I care about more than whether that 0.4 seconds will allow Rowell to get a clearance. I'd rather Rowell be safe, you know?

GAME DAY!

It's not absolutely crucial that we win today but it would certainly help if we do. I think it's important for the boys to beat a team like the 2nd place Bombers to really start the belief that we can (and should) start winning games on the road, starting with St Kilda next week. It looks like Goldy won't play for them so I just hope our mids step up and we pull off a solid win this arvo.

Let's go!

Should we winning home games at this time slot, bring the pressure and we'll ping em holding the ball, make the most of our 60 inside 50s

Massive 2 weeks coming up before the bye. Can just as easily see us going 2-0 as I can 0-2. Win these 2 and at 8-5, finals is absolutely in play.

Midfield just needs to show up. Assume Anderson gets Durham, so hopefully we see some sort of plan to free him up/get Touk, Humphrey, Graham more involved while putting time into Merrett. Hope to see Moyle take another step in his development working with the 1’s mids as well.

Very worried about their half-backs and ball movement. Ridley/Martin/Redmand/McGrath can absolutely carve us up if the forward pressure is slightly off. Fiorini in for Lloyd is already quite a speed and pressure loss.

Yeah love the boys but think the bombers spread will get us by 4 goals.

Break even in the middle but their run and ability to switch the ball and run should give them more clean entries
