loving your approach anzac, some nice uniques. no point finishing 20th right? gl

Exactly my thinking mate. I could play it conservatively and still do well, but I'd rather give myself a shot at the 50k even if I finish a bit lower in the end. With 2 trades every week I'd rather take a risk or two now, can always fix it up later on.

Sinclair > Nicholls - can finally get rid of Sinclair. Bloody injuries and outs have kept him in way too long.
JPK > Barlow - has been poo this year and a good time to sideways.

Leaves $137K in the bank for next week when I can get rid of Kommer as well.

I will have only 8 after trading this week.

I've had a strategy re-think due to only having 11 trades left before Rd12 trades, so it's probably in my best interest to clear my non playing/very slow burning rookies, trade in the highest averaging rooks who will make the most money (+ a couple of cheapie rooks that serve DPP purposes) to field the strongest MBR teams I can whilst setting myself up post byes with the best premo's I can trade in with the $'s at my disposal from week to week. I'm going to run out of trades before SC finals anyway, so I may as well trade hard over the next 4 weeks to make sure I have enough depth to cover injuries/restings for the last 4-5 weeks.

Anyway, this is my plan, all pending prices but below are my preferred options..

Rd 12 trades
Dixon > Ellis
Colquhuon > Martin
Naismith > Nicholls

Rd 12 starters (20)
Goddard, Hanley, Birchall, Gibbs, Ellis, Docherty
Ablett, Pendlebury, Swan, Murphy, Stanton, Rockliff, Vlastuin, Martin
Kruezer, Nicholls
Cloke, Franklin, Macaffer, Staker

Rd 13 trades
Docherty > T Mitchell
Macaffer > Bartel* (or Cotchin/Jelwood. Which ever one of the 3 I can afford)

Rd 13 starters (18*)
Hanley, Birchall, Ellis, Vlastuin, Terlich, Thurlow
JP Kennedy, S Johnson, Swallow, T Mitchell
Cox, Blicavs
Bartel*, N Riewoldt, Rockliff, JJ Kennedy, Franklin, Staker

Rd 14 trades
Thurlow > Oxley
Blicavs > Natanui* (or Walker who ever I can afford)

Rd 14 team
Goddard, Gibbs, Hanley, Birchall, Ellis, Vlastuin (Terlich, Oxley)
Ablett, Pendlebury, S Johnson, Swan, JP Kennedy, Swallow, Murphy, Stanton (T Mitchell, K Martin)
Cox, Kreuzer (Nicholls, Rowe)
Bartel, N Riewoldt, Natanui*, Rockliff, Cloke, Franklin ( JJ Kennedy, Staker)

Rd 15 trades
Rowe > McBean (or 89k cheapie depending who I bought in prev Rd - NicNat or walker)
Terlich > H Shaw*

Rd 15 Team
Hanley, Goddard, Gibbs, H Shaw*, Ellis, Birchall (Vlastuin, Oxley)
Ablett, Pendlebury, S Johnson, Swan, JP Kennedy, Swallow, Murphy, Stanton (T Mitchell, K Martin)
Cox, Kreuzer (Nicholls, McBean*)
Bartel, N Riewoldt, Natanui, Rockliff, Cloke, Franklin ( JJ Kennedy, Staker)

Only 2 trades left from Rd16 to upgrade 2 of Vlastuin, T Mitchell, Martin, Nicholls, Staker should any of their prices top out enough to sideways to a premo or 2 who have bottomed out.

Would play the last month or so with 0 trades, but would have 25 premo's with 4 high averaging rookies to get me through SC finals with plenty of DP options to cover injury/restings, so I should be fielding at least 22 premo's each week, pending 3-4 LTI's in the last month. It's very risky, but based on having so few trades with half a season to go, I may as well just go for it and hope for the best.

Yes I know... tl;dr

What do you guys think?

Looks decent mate, but I think it is quite risky. You could get absolutely slammed by injuries and be screwed.. but hey I don't mind the strategy cause you will have a bit of cover and you have to take risks to get close to the overall. I will probably be in the same boat. Only difference is that I have 9 trades left after this round and will only need to make 1 more trade to have a complete team. Goodes > Heppell/Hanley and then I have a full 22 of premo's, with some decent cover with my rooks on the bench who are all making money still and playing. Final 8 trades will all be for injuries and if I still have a few near the end for upgrading any underperforming premos.

Hrovat might be dropped this week - doggies have a pretty handy bench..

My thoughts on the Hrovat/Doggies bench situation.

Markovic will play.
Stevens will play if fit - under a slight cloud.
Campbell will not play.

I suspect Gia will be the sub again, with Picken starting in defence and Addison moving forward.

That leaves Wallis, Hrovat and Smith fighting for one, maybe two spots - depending on Stevens. Hrovat has played better than either Wallis or Smith in the past 2 weeks, so I'm having him making the squad. Be disappointing for a guy who has played 2, won 2, to be dropped....

Now the exact opposite will occur.

Anyone know if the sub picked has to be from players named on the bench from Thursday teams? Or can a player named on the field be picked as the sub?

Sub can come from anywhere in the selected sides, doesn't have to be named on the bench...

Leuey coming back was a pleasant surprise! Haven't had the luxury of being able to trade him out yet, and he's only missed 2 games in the end.

I still brought in Nicholls for Blicavs, and then went Crouch (who has struggled recently for us and won't make me cash anytime soon) to Redden. I wanted Barlow, but didn't have the money available. I saw a stat about Redden's back ends to the year, so I feel very safe picking him up.

Midfield is now complete (JOM and Mitchell as cover); so is the rucks (Jacobs and Leuey with Nicholls as cover); and so is the forwardline (with Staker and Kennedy as cover at this stage, which will change eventually).

I have Goodes, Vlaustin and Terlich as my last 3 defenders atm. I'll aim to bring in Birchall and Hibberd soonish, but there is no real rush. Those 3 are scoring just as consistently as most premium defenders.

Sub can be anyone, even a late in. So there are 25 possible sub options for each team...

More likely to come from the bench though I think.
Someone did some stats earlier in the year
It was like 54% on field
Then the four bench positions were all fairly equal with four being marginally hogher and second marginally lower.. such as
Field (54%)
B1 (11%)
B2 (8%)
B3 (12%)
B4 (15%)

Thoss arent the real number but it was something along those line

Screw Hrovat, his js isn't as good as I expected

Doing out Jones / Kerridge

in Barlow / T Mitchell

allows me to do two upgrades next week, JOM to Jack and Luenberger to SJohnson

Everyone's going to Barlow but I'm tempted by Redden as a PoD. Usually finishes the season insanely well.
So was I, but I've changed my mind and gone Boyd. Even with the slight injury risk, he's been an extremely durable player and he's their captain, so I back him to come home strong and not miss a game from here.. *touches wood*

Redden is a solid pick, but looking at his scoring history, he is prone to a few 70s a year. I wouldn't call his ceiling anything higher than 110 either. His scoring hasn't been great against Freo either, which was the final nail for me.

Looking at Freo, they have 4 out of their next 5 games at Patersons Stadium. I'm doing the best I can get to get Ibbotson in. He's averaged 123 in his three games there this year. I'm going to jump on Barlow this week and see how Ibbotson goes at Patersons. If he tons it up again, I'll lock and load him for next week.
