Why do you assume its a 50/50 on Sheed/Gaff? What if theyre ahead?

Culley isnt fighting for a spot with Sheed/Gaff anyway.
Cant just drop the worst player in the AFL for the best player in the WAFL, need to keep some semblance of team structure with players in correct positions.
Culley isnt coming in to play wing, and not to play Sheeds HFF/tagger role either

Sshhhhhhhhh you are just meant to mindlessly bash Sheed and Gaff until they are gone and a young player (any, except Luke Edwards who we don’t like anymore) is in their place.

Positions don’t matter - players are either small or tall!

Now WAFL form well.
Culley 30 Disposals
Hall 30 Disposals
Hutchinson 5 goals on debut

Beagles Saturday 10 am in the WET.
Saturday vs Nth Melb cellar dwellars 230pm in the WET. The bye is the following week. The Beagles also have the bye. So Oscar Allen won't be playing for 3 weeks unless he plays against North Melbourne. I say play him vs Nth. Most of the games now will be rain affected this time of the year.

INS
Waterman
Allen
Kelly
Culley
Hall
Hutchinson

Outs
Reid Suspension.
J Williams
Maric
Gaff
Sheed
J Jones.

Far out Natalia Cooper is here already with another ultra reliable long term forecast for next week’s game…

You realise we're playing North Melbourne right? A team who's average age last week was 1 year and 8 months lower than our average age this week.
It's more like throwing a kid to the kittens than to the wolves.
I reckon if it was up to you we'd have Nic Nat, Shuey, Hurn and probably Schofield and McInnes still on the list
How did dumping senior players and just playing kids who might be up to it, work out for them.

Why are so many so adamant we follow the player management strategies of the only team worse than us?

Halls issue is less about production and more about his use of ball. he seems rushed and panicy so needs to settle a bit.
Another Pre-season for him and he should be knocking down the door.

Culley should be kicking in Simmos door monday and demanding a full game in the seniors.
Hutchinson whilst very good wont jump to AFL just yet.
The rest need more time.
Brockman was good for maybe half the game. (wont play until post bye).
Our issue is, if Simmo does what people want, and bring these guys into a struggling team, in a week or 2, half this board will be screaming delist.

They played well, in the WAFL, against Perth.

But in the trade thread there are constant calls for them to go.

Allen hasn't played since round 1. Would prefer he waits it out and plays some WAFL first.

Can’t believe Sheed can beat Steele and people still calling for his head - pretty typical for this board though.

Out: Reid (susp.), J.Williams (omit), Maric (omit)
In: Kelly, Waterman, Culley
Sub: Trew

Would like to see another player added to the midfield rotation with Culley the obvious addition and have him ahead of Trew in starting 22 as he is more effective forward.
If Kelly not fit then retain Maric (as sub with Trew moving into midfield rotation).
If Waterman not fit then J.Williams if it’s fine or Dewar if it’s wet.

Hall is the mid option...i think he'll make the step up fine.

For a supporter group who has been crying out for selection integrity for years, some really seem to take issue with selection integrity if it means players they don’t want playing, indeed play.
Just on this bit, for me I don't like when selection integrity is followed when it allows players that were kept in the side when there was no selection integrity to keep playing. That sounds like the club are picking and choosing when to follow selection integrity to benefit certain credits players.

Especially now as we are in full rebuild mode in that you are not playing your best 22 at times. As Simmo said at the start of the season, when it comes to the decision between 2 players we are going to err on the side of youth.

Gaff was solid from reports in the WAFL. But how was Sheed's form? I don't think anyone was writing home about it.

And as others have mentioned have never been a fan of giving someone their call up to be the sub. Let them start and have a crack if you don't get an injury then you can sub them if they aren't up to the pace.

Completely agree we may have to put up with it in the near term I guess its just frustration at wanting to move on and what these players represent of the credits crew.

There was literally no choice last year, Gaff and Sheed had to play whenever they were fit. Cant have any selection integrity if there is nobody to replace them

Which WAFL player is pushing out Gaff for the wing spot? Gaff is already the replacement for Hunt.
Sheed has been tagging off half forward, do you want to bring in Hall or Culley to be a tagger, and not play their actual role? Are we now advocating to wasting players out of position like so many whinge about us doing to Greg Clark/Connor West over the last couple of years?

Sheed was a late in to cover Maric being sick, and hes been ok since. I dont know why theyd drop a guy who is playing ok doing a role. He definitely hasnt been our worst

All this credits crew talk from people is just them having a sook because a player they dont like is getting a game tbh.
Selection has been pretty fine this year tbh

Well I don't speak for the rest of the supporter group, but personally I don't want Gaff and Sheed in our side, I don't care who is available.
Your hysterics on playing teenagers (when suggestions have included Dewar who is 20 and Culley who is 21) seem even more ridiculous when Reid is 19, Ginbey also 19 and Maric...also 19. Two of those guys have been amongst our best players this season and the other one has been a solid contributor.

Agree wholeheartedly with this post.

As for the tripe coming from DSP…spare me. Might be time to update the Ignore list.

Rubbish. Sheed had a shocker the week before. He's played a defensive role 3 weeks in a role. Easily could have gone to a younger player.

Who exactly is Sheed protecting of the younger players so they don't get "thrown to the wolves'?

Because let me tell you, Sheed is the last person you'd want a younger to learn off. Token half arsed tackles, doesn't chase, points at the team to cover his man.

Turn it up. End of rant.

I think it would be better if we made Hutchinson wait until after the bye to get a game, so he can settle in and learn the gameplan a bit better/get to know the guys.
Unfortunately with guys like Allen, Hunt, Brockman, Kelly, Waterman due back either this week or right after the bye he might struggle to get a spot straight away

Brockman was terrific at the CB in that last Q - directly responsible for giving us the win. Quick and direct out of the centre.

His leg speed out of the centre was damn impressive. Clean ball use too. Clearly a cut above WAFL level. As I said in the WAFL thread, just needs to get the off field stuff sorted.

And another thing. We haven't had a tagger in donkeys, since Yeo in 19 on the odd game.

And we create a role we haven't had in 4 years and shoehorn Sheed into this as he's failed everywhere else?

Well F me sideways and praise the lord hallelujah jesus, we've unearthed a gem.

I'll see myself out. Good night.

Nobody claimed hes protecting anybody, whats that got to do with what I said?
Last week 90% of the team played terribly, you want to drop them all? or just single out the guy you dont like?
Hes not there to teach right now, hes in there tagging and playing a role mostly off half forward. Hes probably in Longs spot, which doesnt suit Culley/Trew/hall.
Sheed was at some centre bounces the other day to TAG

Im no fan of Sheed, but he gets a lot of shit unfairly here. We cant just roll up to games with 8 inside mids and no outside players because theyre all getting 25-30 touches in the WAFL.

Maybe Hutchinson plays Sheeds HFF role, maybe Brockman pushes him out, maybe when Hunt comes back Chesser pushes a bit more forward and plays that role.

Look at our WAFL squad and tell me who we could bring in, the only WAFL guys who looked close to getting a game today were Culley and Hutchinson. Culley is an inside mid and Hutch played deep forward probably because its easier to play that when he rocked up literally 5 minutes ago.
Sheed isnt doing either of those roles.

Yes they made a tagger role to fit him in, but thats because the alternative is playing young guys out of position and doing what everybody complained about us doing to Clark/West.
When players are back from injury then you can talk about moving Sheed out. Im waiting for Brockman/Hutch to potentially replace him, Hewett/Long would be amazing but thats a lot further away

JFC I swear 95% of you people want us to go into games with 8 inside mids every week when we can only play 3 at a time in their preferred role

Eh I thought Sheed and Gaff both played well.

With a full strength side I don't think they are both b23 though.

However Gaffy took the omission in his stride and went to work in the WAFL. By all reports he has been mentoring Chesser who has essentially taken his spot, and the other young midfielders. He put in more than 2 months, then got the call up, played his role well, and played better in the new system. That's not the old 'credits' system.

Sheed had some credits treatment initially sure, but he had his best game for the year on the weekend.

I wouldn't have either as automatic inclusions for the rest of the season, but considering Yeo is working his way back to his best form, Reid will be out, and we don't know if Kelly and Hunt will be back and if they'll be fully fit, I would keep them both in the side for now.
