From the WAFL: Culley is a must. Hall is a panic merchant, looked awful in traffic today. Possibly related to the hand injury but I wouldn't be letting his disposal count convince me to play him.

I must have seen a different game to everyone else if they thought Gaff played well. I was happy he bobbed up to kick that goal but otherwise he looked to continually run past teammates for a handpass only to kick the ball to the Saints. Sheed, for all his other deficiencies, at least has enough vision and kicking skills to find a teammate occasionally.

What I think will happen:

In: Culley, Waterman, Kelly (if fit)
Out: Reid, J Will, Trew

Gaff to sub.

It isn't though.
No tackle hit his head.
Arms were free so he could have protected himself if he chose to
Player not concussed.
Slung, backward, so arms free or not, he actually cannot protect his head, head did make contact with the ground. Not concussed just means it's not 3 weeks.

In: Waterman, Kelly, Culley
Out: JWill, Sheed, Reid (susp)
Updating this as, based on Simmo’s presser, Sheed as a tagger seems to be on the agenda.

It’s not what I’d do, but predicting rather than barracking for.

In: Waterman, Kelly, Culley
Out: JWill, Trew, Reid

Maric to sub. Culley playing is a non negotiable after that WAFL appearances and the ‘mid with forwardline stints’ role Reid plays.

Out: Williams, Trew, gaff, sheed
In: Kelly, Hutchinson, culley, waterman

**** off VFL if reid gets suspended
Actually **** off anyway

I don't know how many times I have to say it, but IMO JJ is clearly not AFL quality.
He's been in the system long enough now.

So I wouldn't play him and don't care who his replacement is.
I'd rather we look at someone else than keep playing someone who isn't up to it.
This just sounds like you want us to play someone that's not up to it because you don't like the current bloke that's not up to it.

How about we replace the guy not up to it with someone better, as opposed to just anyone at all? Based on your post, you would be happy if I took his spot, and I couldn't do a lap in under about 20 min.

Exactly…

I want to replace JJ, but don’t want us to throw a kid to the wolves to do it.

Some are gonna have to suck it up a little longer while our kids develop in the development side.

Culley and Hutchison are pressing their cases, but they’re really the only two from WAFL today that should be up for consideration along with TK and Waterman.

Nope.

I want to see us give a kid a go who might be up to it, rather than perservere with someone who isn't.

You realise we're playing North Melbourne right? A team who's average age last week was 1 year and 8 months lower than our average age this week.
It's more like throwing a kid to the kittens than to the wolves.
I reckon if it was up to you we'd have Nic Nat, Shuey, Hurn and probably Schofield and McInnes still on the list

If you're ever going to come in, you'd like it to be against North at home.

But no, let's keep playing someone who is taking us nowhere.

If it was up to you, we’d be playing U/9’s just to see if they’re up to it.

People need to understand, our list is shockingly poor, anyone outside our 22 wouldn’t make the cut in some WAFL teams.

Before today our WAFL BOG was almost always a non-AFL listed player, either Ruscoe or Sparks.

Our WAFL team with 13-14 AFL listed players only just got over the line against 9th placed WAFL team, and yet you want them playing on the big stage just because you’re fed up with Gaff and Sheed.

That’s not good management of young players at all.

A bloke who was playing country footy 6 months ago just came in and was BOG or close to.

Any young player who is remotely close to being ready for AFL is already in the AFL side, now Culley has put his hand up after 2 solid games as a mid after his ACL.

its crazy how much people want to just throw teenagers who arent ready into the AFL squad just to get dominated. How tf can anybody think that would help?

We need to be as competitive as possible to give the young guys who are in the side like Reid, Ginbey, Maric, Chesser, etc the best chance to actually develop.

There is also the need to be somewhat attractive to players who might be looking for a new club/keep our current players.

Good clubs give their young guys all the time they need before they get a game, if that means a year or more in the WAFL/VFL then so be it

I don't think JJ is best 22, but at the moment I would rather keep him and play one less tall player up forward.

I liked his attack on the ground ball, was aggressive and his ball use was much better. But he needs to do more than that to impress properly. Was the only player moving at times trying to provide a target, everyone else was stagnant.

Hutchinson in for Maric would be good against the Kangaroos, just to bring some more speed and pressure and to have a debutant is always a feel good story.

Culley for Sheed wouldn't bother me in the slightest. Don't lose speed here.

Maybe Kelly for Reid, not really sure what will happen with Reid.

Waterman for J Williams. For a lot of reasons.

Petruccelle looked bad but may as well give him another week now that he's in the team.

I don't think I've ever said bring all of the teenagers in, but Sheed and Gaff are like giant anchors on our team, once we're free of them we'll actually be able to play the game plan Simpson supposedly wants us to play.
Last time we won two games in a row, Gaff didn't play in either match and Sheed played all of one quarter....but ohh won't someone think of the children??
In fact you can actually see my preferred (dreaming I know) changes above, which includes bringing in zero teenagers funnily enough.

Outs: Reid (prison probably), Maric, JWilliams, Gaff
Ins: Kelly, Culley, Waterman, Hall

HEdwards, Barrass, Witherden
Hough, McGovern, Duggan

Chesser, Hall, Ginbey

Culley, Waterman, Cripps
Ryan, Darling, Jones

Flynn, Kelly, Yeo

Sheed (ugh), Petruccelle, Cole, BWilliams

Burgiel sub

Yes, and they didn’t play because better players were keeping them out.

Las week neither TK nor Hunt were available, so they played.

Trust me, bar Culley and Hutchison no one from the WAFl will help implement Simmo’s new game plan based on current output.

For a supporter group who has been crying out for selection integrity for years, some really seem to take issue with selection integrity if it means players they don’t want playing, indeed play.

Well I don't speak for the rest of the supporter group, but personally I don't want Gaff and Sheed in our side, I don't care who is available.
Your hysterics on playing teenagers (when suggestions have included Dewar who is 20 and Culley who is 21) seem even more ridiculous when Reid is 19, Ginbey also 19 and Maric...also 19. Two of those guys have been amongst our best players this season and the other one has been a solid contributor.
