The best thing about tonight was that the effort of the Kangas caused David King to have hope and then become invested. Gosh he became salty in that fourth.

Really good from Linc. Neale needs another week to find some touch not his usual classy best.

Votes to Bailey and Linc who were the only ones putting in a four quarter effort. Neale the only other vote given a huge second half. A few others were ok in the second half but didn’t make up for their first half

Zorko for Matho (obvious)

Payne comes in for either Coleman or Madden (if Coleman then Ah Chee plays wing/forward, if Madden then TBerry comes in for Coleman)

Unfortunately nobody in the 2s apart from Payne worth bringing in

I don't think adding in Payne, and losing Coleman or Madden is the answer. Melbourne exposed us for our lack of speed, so adding in a slow defensive player would only put us further back.

Also, what is up with Mcluggage's kicking in the forward 50? He might actually be the worst set shot kicker I have seen in my life, and that pains me to say because he's elite in every other category. His set shots and forward 50m kicking is seriously holding him back from being an elite player.

Congratulations to Fagan on his 100th! What a move to bring him to the Lions ;)

McCarthy far and above BOG. Bailey had spark too, and Neale worked nicely into the game.

I put in Dev as well as he was there trying, and Andrews.

A lot of woe is me wailing in the match thread. For what it was, I thought we put in a workman-like effort after a bad start.

The scoreline flattered North too, as we had some shocking set shots.

A lot of comment on Big O. Goldstein is one of the best rucks in the comp imo. Oscar worked his way into the match and provided better contests in the 2nd half. That also allowed Neale to work his way into the match too.

edit: as I often do, I overlook Lyons work in tight. Probably should replace dev with him in my votes.

A game where stats don’t paint the full picture.

Linc, Bailey and Hippy my top 3 based on the fact they injected the spark in key moments that were absolutely required.

All well and good Coleman being quick but if he's not getting around the footy it's pretty useless.

I think plenty of players lowered their colours today. Take it as nothing more than Tasmania being a hard place to play attractive football and move on. I'm sure Coleman and Madden will be better next week, especially at the Gabba.

Payne is a bit quicker than you must remember, over 50m I’d back him over Coleman
Coleman plays forward half though, and only occasionally goes into our defensive 50 when they're numerous stoppages. Madden is our defensive player, who i don't think should be replaced as his speed was vital numerous times tonight.

Coleman out, Ah Chee forward, Payne in. I haven't seen our VFL game yet so whether Payne is ready I'm not sure

Getting a bit worried about Joe. He’s definitely made the team better and Eric is flourishing on the second defender, but not sure his explosiveness will ever come back after injury.

I’m keen to see him after another pre-season more geared to the type of role he is playing.

We were never going to see his best in his first year back. At the start of the year you'd have taken what we've got from him so far surely.
