fantastic first half by the saints, very even spread amongst all players. Backline holding up and the eveness across our forwardline is working great, in specific Rooey, Kosi and Wilkes all getting on the end of a few. Must mantain through second half as the bombers are fast finish's
Ultimately, I'm worried that Essendon will be timing runs past packs on the wing in the same manner Adelaide were. We've also seen how well they can clog up movement around said packs. When we don't have movement, our possession becomes rather impotent.
Essendon are better at disposing the ball and given the lack of continuity in our backline (especially for this game) I don't see us being able to cover the quick entries effectively.
We have to be prepared to play-on anytime the ball gets towards centre/half-forward. Wilkes is the wild card and how we deliver to him will make all the difference. Should Reiwoldt and Koschitzke be forced to play up the ground (as I believe to be the case) and Wilkes isn't relatively free in space, we'll need to be bombing from 50 all night. I don't see Milne having a blinder and for other shorties to have an effect, the ball needs to be moving fast in an unpredictable manner.
Call this a negative stance if that way inclined, I really don't care. Have seen enough sport played in my lifetime, particularly the past drubbings, to not keep the red glasses on any longer than necessary. Any notion that I'm not a '100% supporter' can politely be crammed up the thought-owner's slammer.
I want us to win this game, however when I view it objectively it seems a highly unlikely outcome.
Me too, Noidenous. I love it when I'm wrong.Excuse me while I pour some sauce on my hat and chow down.
Unfortunately I'm stuck with radio, so can't really comment with any accuracy. Will certainly have a look tomorrow when the video's available.Me too, Noidenous. I love it when I'm wrong.

Great effort by the boys, also a great coaching effort it has to be said.
Thought that CJ did a good job of handballing off most of his posessions.
Anyone miss BJ, let him come back through the VFL I say.

Even managed to stab one on to Siposs' chest!
Kosi was much much better tonight. Adds weight to the 'he was sick' argument. I'll lay off.
I hate quote myself but....I think Watters has a longer term game play than some credit. He is looking at the club overall and we now have 3 development coaches from 1, we have a good elite sports coach, Laidley is a good addition. He is rotating 'some' younger players but not conceding the year and going 'all youth'. I think it is a good long term balance.
I think this game may be closer than many people think. I'm tipping Saints by 7 on 07.07. It's all in the numbers

So typical. he plays a reasonable game, for a change and then gets reported! how many times this year?Hold your breath on Kosi. He's been reported for hit on Dempsey in 3rd quarter. Hope it's no longer than 1 week.
Yes, and yes.
There's no (apparent) urgency to bring BJ straight back in. A stint in the VFL might just get his head straight. He would be a lot more likely to hold his frustration if he knows that a run in the two's could come as a result of an outburst.
I'm pretty sure that Jonesy only ever kicked the ball when in defence if he was under immense pressure or if there was an easy target. Otherwise he sought to hand it off or went for a run, which was good. He was more keen to kick the ball when forward of centre, which we should be happy with as a turnover is far less costly.
And while they're at it, gaffer tape his mouth shut. Woeful commentator, had enoughCan somebody please tell Brian Taylor that it's Jack Steven. There's no 's' at the end of it.
