I was in Brisbane last time they had an outbreak and the Vic government changed the travel rules when the Qld government changed the lockdown rule so I'm not sure why they've taken a tougher stance this time. But it's pretty simple though:

Red zone (Brisbane): 14 days quaruntine
Orange zone (GC): Quaruntine until negative test.

Idea would be if you've personally been in a red zone you have more chance of exposure than if you run into some people who have been. Works in most cases although a footy match is a bit different. Don't know why the AFL wants to be cute with it though. Just put every game involving a victorian team in a green zone.

Thought process....
Hmmmm can we take the risk?....sure its only StKilda.

A great deal of that comes down to 'on field' leadership. I'm not in anyway denying the brilliance and mettle of STEELE...(excuse the punn, which I believe is made too often) but STEELE and his cohorts don't seem to have that 'General' like leadership quality.

Contrary to your suggestion that we don't have the cattle, I believe we're building a great group of players that are revealing the potential to perform as an excellent team. Nonetheless, it is only my opinion, but we just don't seem to currently possess the kind of individual that can reverse the flagging psyche of those around him in terms of those damaging periods to which you refer.....Great Teams seem to possess such a player or players but again it miught be just my imaginings..

I don't want to use Nick RIEWOLDT as an example because i hate to hearken back to the last successful period to compare, as their is ususally little help in doing so but I know he led in such a manner by single handedly dragging us back over the line or at least up to the line ....... anyway I am probably just dreaming!
It just feels obvious when we play that we are lacking that. Maybe MARTIN does that for RICHMOND at times...its more than skill and talent. It certainly doesn't have to come from the Captain at least not alone!

Those poor periods when nervousness and indecision become palpable as you say is when we have demonstrated high levels of fatigue and moments of loss of concentration and focus...which might suggest ....the youth and inexperience of a number of our players is evident or as many suggest a higher degree of fitness is required to sustain our existing game plan. The on field leadership i speak of would, i believe, be of utmost importance regardless.
For sure,Hodge and those types of guys could do it because they had very good players all around them and seemed to be natural leaders. Nick was just being Nick- an absolute star every week. Fitness is something that every AFL player should have, they should be the fittest people in the land- no excuses. I think once the team recruit some "healthy" good experienced players then it will get better. I am not convinced it will occur organically so I differ with you on that one.

Yeah have to disagree. Haven't we just come out of ANOTHER lockdown, and finally getting a run of zero cases again. There are still cases popping up in Brisbane so why not just keep it a red zone, it's about just being careful and avoiding another lockdown. Sure you can go from Brisbane to GC but you still need to get a test when you come back from GC. Whether a game gets played at the GABBA or Carrara is hardly a huge priority right now.

As for all the Lions fans whinging it up, they literally have to drive an hour down the road to go to the game. Remember when Victorian fans couldn't see their team for a year? Remember when West Coast fans rocked up at the game to be told there'd be no fans?

Honestly the woe is me from Brisbane fans especially after the run they had last year is hilarious.

After 2020, the Lions fans can pull their head in.
Last year we were just thankful we got a season of sorts.
If they think it sucks because they finally found out that Covid doesn't just spread among "dumb Victorians " , well that's their problem.

If he'd converted last week he would have looked great but unfortunately that's pretty much the same for all our small forwards. 3 goals instead of 3 behinds and he would have looked like a revelation.
I haven’t been a huge fan of his but he’s added some elements to that forward structure we were missing.

He‘s very skilful he just can’t find enough of the ball but his marking, tacking and willingness to actually take responsibility and go back and have a shot have helped us. Long can actually kick 50 metres plus which makes him a standout amongst our small forwards and enables him to get out around the arc and still be dangerous.

I really think this is his best position as a defensive forward. I was glad he had the confidence to fly in front of sincs when he called him back last week then actually take the shot. I know he missed but he’ll kick three soon and hopefully that will get his confidence up, he looks fired up and happy again.

I can't help thinking that we might be using him badly. Hind looked great once he left in a better spot. Dunstan was rotting in the reserves etc. His stats last week look too good for VFL. My Melbourne mates rated Kent highly but he was a walking injury machine. He never got on the ground.

Perhaps we have a guy who isn't suited to being a small forward pigeon holed. He came to get midfield minutes and has had just about zero midfield minutes. I've probably bagged Kent more than most on here but it would be worth trying him as a HFF wing hybrid like they were playing Byrnes and DMac.
Correct, he never played much at the Dees and who wants a "walking injury machine" We have a few slower types already in the midfield, we dont want another one. I cant see him getting much more than 1 or 2 games this year and definitely not in the midfield. Good luck to him if he proves his detractors wrong.

So Kent is a slower type now?

He was desperate for a goal last week.
He spoiled Billings 30m out directly in front and then he jumped in front of Steele to grab a mark and missed the shot.

he was considered a bit of a speedster at Melbourne but maybe that's like comparing a tortoise to a glacier.

I think that was Sinclair but the same point. Was trying too hard.

Wouldn't mind seeing Kent in, it's easy to forget how dangerous he could be. I recently watched through some highlights from 2019 and 2020 and it's clear he can find the ball and he can be damaging with it. Would like to see if he can join the crew who have revitalised their careers - certainly not many in-form to keep him out of a spot at the moment.

Now I love longy and I have defended him over the years and I think he has a spot in our team..... but...
Last week I couldn’t believe when he stole that mark that Sinclair was sitting under and called for, I mean there are not many on our side you would trust taking a shot on goal more than Sinclair.
It was one of those well that’s fine as long as u nail the shot.
and he didn’t.

just a complaint I needed to air, hope he kicks 3 this week, love his intensity.

Yes, that is something you rarely see from an AFL footballer- lower grades yes. It looked bloody poor. It reminded me of some of Lonies efforts a few weeks ago, selfish and trying to do the impossible. Just cant do that stuff at that level

No there isnt, if he is good enough he will get a chance but the writing is on the wall and I think that most logical people would be thinking that way.

I actually would back Long in to kick it over Sinclair. His snaps are good but I wouldn't have him in the guys that I'd like to take set shots list. Long has been good in the past. like most of his mates he seems to have lost confidence.

I think he's gone if he can't get back in so we might as well throw him in and see if he can make a late charge at saving his career. It's worked pretty well for us so far this year. Some of the only positives.

I get why we are playing at Metricon.
But then why are they are allowing people from a red zone in Brisbane to travel to the game, that just seems odd.
( Maybe they’ll be told not to touch the ball. 🤣🤣🤣)

I think it's that we would have to isolate for 14 days if we enter a red zone. I doubt it's Vic Gov more AFL not wanting to change our fixture. Ideally it would have stayed in Vic.

See my answer to D2D3 and Lewdogs so I don’t type it again and bore everyone 😊
I obviously wasn’t clear in my post.

On the leadership thing, I agree we need more voice out there.
The boys voted Steele in, obviously they respect him for the way he goes about it, but are we lacking direction in the guts when under pressure?
I notice dunstan communicates with paddy a lot as to where he will be/where he wants the pill.
Maybe if dunstan continues this form he will be able to take control of the group itself as a general with steeles backing.

I also think there is a bit of dissonance in the backline at times, maybe a case of too many chiefs not enough indians.
Howard seems to be the loudest voice but I wonder if he should be. Coffield who is a brilliant reader of the play seems to get frustrated with him and in past Carlisle at times.
Maybe I’m overthinking it.
But maybe coff can become that hodge/Goddard hb general but he needs to earn a bit more respect through his own form first.
