Like any team sport, the young guys are going to be in and out of the senior team unless they are elite from an early age. Arie, Garcia, Caminiti etc etc will only get better as their bodies toughen up and they build their tanks. Basset didn't get Lyon in to lose games, so the aim is to win, not tank. We had a bunch of passengers last week who were drinking their own bathwater after the Swans win, and I expect depending on the results of the next game, that we might see more of the young guys in the seniors before the season is done.

Yes Arie had a good run of 4 games.

He and the coaches will all have a much better idea of what he needs to improve on now.

Over the reast of the season he has to work on that, and with preseason his pace and strength. Especially if they are looking for him to take over Battle's spot next season.

One thing I noticed a few times last Sat was Arie giving an option for Howard as an exit point but got ignored. Given Arie was free and Howard’s chosen option didn’t look the best decision wondering whether he has the trust of the defensive unit yet, or at least Howard.

It was great to see Arie get a good run.

A few I know have been a little concerned about his pace.......as you mention above stfan.

The earlier knock was his defensive game although he has improved in that Dept.

Very poor return from our forward half last week, and we have a midfield who are not regular goal scorers. Owens is off the boil as a forward, Henry played bruise-free footy last week in conditions where you have to put your body in, and Membrey isn't the same player he was a few years back and a pretty ordinary defensive game form Higgo and Butler. Sharman had a crack but was used up the ground a bit.

The winning midfield will win us the game this week.

Without defending Jones or Bonner's performance last week, Arie was not good last week. Sure, conditions played a role, but he'll be back. Go and dominate VFL for a fortnight.

We should still win this game.

I like the way we are using the VFL to develop players at the moment. Look at Pou, big success. Young players go back and can work on their craft, no issue with it.
