Billings isn't normal Billings he's got a f’ed foot and we are playing him to drive his trade value down. Kenty came back and got 30 plus possessions in his first game in the VFL. Looks like he'd be worth a go in an impotent forward line and it was as a suggestion of bring him in instead of Sharman who looks a year off senior footy. Chuck Kent on McLuggage or something and make him a tagger rest him forward and swap Ross onto him.
Kent on mcluggage. Good humour.

In fairness all sides examples, including ours, are as they should be. Draw done from the ladder at the end of finals. We all finished top 6 so we all get 3 from that group, 1 from the middle 6, and 1 from the bottom 6.

Collingwood beating West Coast in the Elimination Final stuffed it all up. Put Collingwood in the top bracket and West Coast in the middle bracket.

Just a bit unlucky on the sides we drew. Sydney finished 3rd bottom last year. Be thankful we didn't pull Footscray from the 2nd bracket.

If we got really lucky our double ups could have looked something like:

Top 6
Collingwood
Brisbane
Port
Middle 6
Carlton/Freo/GoldCoast
Bottom 6
Nth Melbourne

We historically don't get a lot of luck. Let's face it. Don't think it would have mattered much this year. We have been ordinary.
Exactly and the only side we have played twice is a side we beat the second time. Can’t blame the fixture crap kicking against Geelong and Sydney and a collapse against Adelaide or lack of effort against Richmond Essendon and the dogs.

I guess it helps us that the match is at a neutral stadium but playing in front of a few thousand at Metricon isn't much to get excited about.

Playing in front of a big crowd at the Gabba would be a much better spectacle and would feel more like a final.

Some ideas are very stupid. Fev on g was stupid. Kent anywhere near a running wingman is up there.

He played mids first week back and we don't care if he breaks. Ross can do most of the work and Kenty can chop out. Absence and Dunny have made me believe every spud is one game off redemption.

Like Dunstan you know that Kent will be desperate to play well to keep his AFL career alive, whilst someone like Billings might have more talent he probably doesn't have the same desperation as his career isn't on the line, he knows he will get another contract either with us or some other club.

Full fit I'd still pick Billings ahead of Kent but if Billings isn't fully fit I'd rather pick a full fit and desperate Kent to play that mid/half forward role.

Kent looked very good on the weekend starting in the centre square against the Pies.

Didn't realise he'd been out for 6 weeks with concussion issues. Not a good sign for him.

As good as STEELE is, with his own self confessed inhibitions re self belief and his general style as a leader, which by the way I admire greatly, I believe we need that natural leader that is the 'go to' man in a crisis of confidence that can happen from time to time within a side. I have a feeling that one of the contributing factors to these capitulations is the need we still have for a HODGE type of character or a VOSS type leader.

I wouldn't want STEELE to relinquish his role as Captain...but a better version of GEARY as an addition would really assist in those crunch times. Its the voice of absolute certainty in the midst of potential panic.

We don't seem to have that General in Command at the moment. Maybe its not so much an actual voice but a man of certain action. Who will direct the traffic make the play and inspire the boys as the opposition inevitably mount their counter attacks. At the moment we play brilliantly then seem to melt to panic as we get challenged at our most fatigued and vulnerable.

I feel HANNERS could be that leader if of course he could get on the park. Even if he does he's not the long term solution...and neither is GEARY for that matter. Maybe you guys will know who that should or could be. I have felt like we've lacked that last year and certainly this year.

I hope when we confront the LIONS someone can stand up and hold fast against the pricks that will surely come our way at some stage. I feel that its a leader that can sense the shifting momentum as it happens or almost before and make the required difference to ignite the team to rise to that shift in momentum whilst actually engaging the opposition in field of play. At the moment it appears as though the players are aware of it happening and seem to just watch it happen.....Go Saints

Personally happy to diminish any advantage they get

I could be wrong but the limited amount of vfl I have seen of Kent, he isn't really setting the world on fire at that level. So don't think it would improve much in the 1sts

Don't know much about different ovals, especially METRICON...Does it present any properties or elements that sides have to contend with? I shouldn't imagine that it doesn't present the same pros and cons to both sides! I guess as others have said the neutrality is a plus for us. If anyone knows otherwise I'd be interested!

6000 is about the population of Qld?

Well up here in FNQ it’s like covid never happened.
Feels like I’m in another country altogether.

Dont think they’ve had one case in the Cairns/Port Douglas area although a couple of days ago a young girl in HQ in Cairns escaped by climbing down two floors of the hotel and made her way to her mom’s house in Sydney. So much for the security.

Steele is the Captain we have been screaming out for - he is about the only guy that is still fighting when we have capitulated - Geary was in the game against the Dogs and and showed he is finished as a leader.
You can have the best leader in the world but you don't have the cattle to back him up , you still will not win games.
