They're one of the most in form teams along with the Bulldogs so we will have our work cut out beating them regardless of where the match is played.

We did push them pretty hard when we played them at the Gabba last year and had our chances to win the game so we aren't without a chance although I think they are a better side now than they were back then.

The Lions looked very average against the Crows. Did enough to win as all good side do but definitely not at their best.

Interesting to see when Ratten was asked about finals all here said was we are looking at getting games into the young guys or something around those lines.
Connolly , Byrne , Highmore names mentioned.

Good, focusing on youth should be our outlook and anything positive on match day is a bonus. Hoping Ratten has the same approach come draft time.

Happy for them to move the game to the Anakie Recreational Reserve.

Only about 28kms from where I live.

And it is in the Brisbane Ranges so they’re not gonna twig til it’s too late 🤪

Love the brown shed interchange bench / coaches box. There would have been some epic sprays delivered in there over the years with nowhere to hide. Unless you shimmy up the red light pole, Dane Rampe style.

One does tend to think that there will be no getting a jump on the LIONS....If we have a chance at all we will have to grind out 4 of the best quarters we've played this year. Which, if we can procure such a consistent hard fought performance, will be the absolute best thing to blow the shroud of underwhelming yet isolated quarters of football away from the winning football we are capable of and have demonstrated so far.

There will be no time that we might be tempted to take it easy in this match and that may be just what we need.

Players that were out of favor due to there dour play like Dunstan and McKenzie are shining , could it be that they are Richardson's hard at the contest type players.
Anyway great to see them turn there careers around , but I feel Dunstan will be going to another club if he gets any money thrown his way - Gold Coast would love to have him.

Resurgent St Kilda midfielder Luke Dunstan insists he holds no grudges against his club’s coaching staff despite admitting he felt somewhat hard done after being consistently bypassed at the selection table in the opening half of the season.
A senior regular under previous coach Alan Richardson, Dunstan had 21 disposals in a Brownlow-vote worthy performance in round one last year before being dropped for round two, then injured, and not playing another senior game all season.
Back in favour: St Kilda midfielder Luke Dunstan.

With Brad Crouch and Jack Higgins coming through the Moorabbin doors over the off-season, the South Australian again found himself on the outer at the start of this season. selected just once in the first 10 rounds.
But having been recalled for round 11 on the back of strong VFL form, Dunstan is averaging 27 disposals across his last five games and is again a central plank in the Saints’ on-ball brigade.

A free agent, Dunstan said after Sunday’s win over Collingwood that there has been no movement yet on a fresh deal with St Kilda

The first-round draft pick from 2013 was adamant that he never lost belief in his ability.
“Personally I don’t think I’ve really changed anything. For me it was just about getting the opportunity,” Dunstan said.
“We obviously traded a couple more guys in this year. I knew that would be the case that I had to sort of bide my time and wait for an opportunity. I guess I was just lucky enough that the boys weren’t playing well enough, that were in the side.

“It would have been easy to give up given the circumstances, but it’s not the person I am.”
Asked if he’d felt hard done by, Dunstan said “maybe a little bit”.
“Probably every player thinks they’re hard done by if they’re not getting picked. It’s just the way things go at footy clubs. People get opinions about players and it’s hard to change that until you’re given the opportunity in the senior side.
“I don’t hold any grudges, it’s just the way footy goes, unfortunately.”
Max King and Luke Dunstan celebrate
Dunstan praised Sandringham coach Jake Batchelor for backing him in at the start of the year, allowing Dunstan to thrive despite his limitations.“It’s obviously been pretty well documented about my kicking [struggles]. I’ve just had to work through that mentally and try to manage that the best I can,” Dunstan said.“I’m 26 now. When you’re younger you’re hung up on footy being the be-all and end-all and how you go on the weekend dictates your whole week. But I’ve probably just relaxed a little bit.”

Dunstan also elaborated on mid-season meetings that appear to have helped turn the Saints’ season around, leaving them knocking on the door of the top eight.

“We’ve had a few pretty harsh meetings,” Dunstan said.
“The whole group’s got a lot pointier ... making sure we’re out there working on the things we need to work on after training.
“We were a bit unclear on what we were valuing and whether or not they were the right KPIs. We’ve stripped things right back now and just have two simple focuses.
“[They are] our competitiveness and how much we want to compete and doing the team-first things as well that bring other people into the game.”

He seems pretty blunt about it all.
Far different to the usual "love the club", "bide my time", selection integrity etc.

Not convinced he stays at the end of the year and the way he is playing I imagine a few clubs will offer him something.

Sounds like he was given reason's why he was not in the side and he has fought back and proved he is more than good enough - will be very surprised if he is at the club next year.

The thing is if we can gain from losing him - would he be a best a late 2nd round pick as a free agent and would Billings be a early 2nd round pick.
Really if that is what they are worth I would want them to stay.
