Didn't see a thread for it, so ...

It's been a long time coming, but it's finally here. Let's hope it lives up to the hype.

For all those who can't get to a TV (particularly those overseas), please keep us updated!

Also, would anyone know the exact link to listen to the game on MMM via streaming?

Midfield Comparison:

Both teams have a fantastic center line. However both teams are missing potent players through injury and/or suspension. Jordan Lewis for the Hawks will not be available for tonight's match and Cat superstar and favorite for the brownlow Garry Ablett is missing through a ankle injury, and to top it all off Cameron Ling the No. 1 Geelong Tagger is missing though a broken cheekbone. But the two teams need to take the good with the bad as they have plenty of depth to back that up. Luke Hodge for Hawthorn and Jimmy Bartel for Geelong are both A-Grade Midfielders. Hawthorns Sam Mitchell is a fantastic player as well, and to add to that list Joel Corey for the Cats is one of their best as well. So it will be very interesting to see who wins this battle 'coz as most games are this will be on and lost out of the center.

Forward Comparison:

This is the interesting part. Lance Franklin is the leading goal kicker for the entire competition averaging around about 9 shots at goal per match. However his unorthodox style lets him down when having a set shot. The Hawks also have
Jaryd Roughead, Cyril Rioli and Mark Williams who can all kick goals. The cats have Cam Mooney, Paul Chapman, Tom Lonergan, Ryan Gamble and Norm Smith Medalist Steve Johnson including Cameron Stokes and all on their day can kick a winning score. This is gonna be a interesting area of the ground but i reckon the Hawks have to much fire power in this area.

Backline Comparison:

That doesn't necaserily mean the Hawk Forwards will kick a bigger score. Geelong have the best defence in the competition with players such as Taylor, Milburn, Scarlett, Mackie and skipper Tom Harley who are all wonderful players. The Hawks have Ladson, Brown, and Trent Croad as the main guns in defence. But Geelong is to slick and solid in this area and should win this particular part on the ground.

Important Points:

  • The Cats must stop Lance 'Buddy' Franklin from firing. This is the type of game he would fire
  • Hawthorn need to win the game out of the centre. If they manage to do this they will go along way to winning this game.
  • The cats need a bloke like Lonergan or Gamble in the forward line to step up and rub some salt on the wounds. This would help support Mooney and Johnson.
  • Hawthorn must cut Jimmy Bartel's influence on this contest. He is in sparkling form and if this continues it would serverily hurt the Hawks.
Last Time They Met:
Hawthorn 10.16 (76) def Geelong 9.18 (72), round four, 2007 at Aurora Stadium, Launceston.

Conclusion:
On form the cats should win this game. I just think it will to to tough for Hawthorn to beat Geelong for a full four quarters of football.

Geelong By 27 Points

Has David Johnson had plastic surgery so he doesnt look exactly like Paul Chapman anymore?

Dare I say it but the first quarter will be tonights premiership quarter. Hawks need a good start here

If the Hawks can't beat us now they'll never beat us.

No Milburn, Ablett, Ling, Egan and Kelly and Bartel underdone, Ottens not as his best.

This isn't an excuse post because I expect and think we will win, but if the Hawks win tonight, don't get too excited.
