i dont think we can cut, we need the experience we've got until they get pushed out but we have to be smart about how we trade out what people consider required players > 26 to bring in more elite young talent.

if i was going to name a bunch of players:

• billings
• marshall
• gresham

whats really scary is how many 28+ year olds we are relying on. i think we could fall off a massive cliff in year 3 of ross's tenure which see's him axed.

100% and this is the huge issue with steele. it's happened multiple times to the point brett ratten went on record and said he had to have words with Steele over his temper tantrum in doing what was necessary for the team.

Membrey and Billings you'd probably have to pay some of their salary to get them a move elsewhere. It would all be about clearing money off the books. Gresham looks gone and will probably get us a second round pick at best on current form. Still clears a lot of money as he'd be on big coin. Marshall would get a first round pick but it would take some serious cajonas to make that deal.

If we can clear off the deadweight it will be great but the more important part of the puzzle will be who we target to come in.

Please, I would encourage everyone to listen VERY CLOSELY to this press conference.

RTB brutally honest and no BS! He knows exactly why we have broken down & what our deficiencies are - they are not a short term fix and I would be feeling very uncomfortable if I was a player on the fringe or with no upside or not prepared to do the work!

Do yourself a favour and listen without any bias or preconceived ideas.

My opinion only but this guy is an elite coach and has an excellent understanding of the game.

It would be more concerning if they were a bunch of guns. Geelong are 27 & 8 months on average tonight with 10 players well over 30 and they don't look particularly old or past it.

The bigger issue is that from our over 25's we only have a small handful who would walk into another club and get a game, 3 of them we snagged as rookies. There's a whole generation of talent we're missing who should be lifting our young guns up, but instead we're hoping that the prodigious talent of a few kids can take up the slack.
