fellas,
Davis, Pavlich or Goodwin?

normally i would say Pav, but with freo down the bottom he might not play the last few weeks, so id say goodwin, very consistent, will keep playing. Since didak came back, davis hasnt had that much midfield time, so i would go one of the other 2
1.Goodwin
2.Pav
3.Davis

None :D
Hill covering Gilbert
Ballantyne or MBrown covering Higgins
Keeping onto Higgins as this weeks game is a gurrented win and my first final is allready set and i should win that aswell.
As his team is getting worse every week due to no trades. And Higgins should be back for my preliminary final by then if not he will be traded then :)

I have my LAST trade left for the year so please help with some advice:
I am trading Levi Greenwood, and can get ANY backman in the comp. Who should it be?
Enright? Lake? Newman? Lockyer? Duffield? Etc Etc...
Thanks for the help!

im downgradin a bench player this week. best midfielder under 100k. im leaning towards van berlo of fremantle??

Goddard ?

Already got him...Sorry, shoulda mentioned my Backline is: Goddard-S.Fisher-J-McDonald-Grimes-R.Houlihan-Suban-Greenwood(Trade for someone tonight).

My mids and forwards are stacked, backline is bit weak, so yeh need to trade Greenwood for any defender, im leaning towards Enright.

with greenwood playing, I'd at least hold off a couple weeks if you can and make the trade further down the track... if one of you gun mids/forwards go down, you might need to use it to trade them.

Backs: Newman, Drummond, Goddard, Grimes, Harding, Gilbert, Hurley (Rance, Collier)
Mids: Judd, Selwood, Pendlebury, Ray, Rich, Cooney (Anthony, Muston)
Rucks: Clark, McIntosh (Natinui, Jacobs)
Forward: Reiwoldt, Brown, Franklin, Johnson,Brennan, Higgins, M.Brown (Walker, Jo.Smith)

Bolded players are best 22, but injured.

Have 477k to spare, and just the two trades.

Must win to lock-in top 4 this week... Gilbert should return next week, so I'm leaving him, and I might have to gamble with holding Higgins.

But who to upgrade Walker to.. Pavlich or Leon are my two options... Who should I pick? Cheers for any advice.:thumbsu:

I'd say Pav BUT then again with Freo playing the cats in rnd 22 I'd go with Neon

Even with Freo's bad run, i'd still take the Pav. I paid top dollar for Leon about a month ago, and have been pretty disappointed. Pav is money in the bank each week IMO. Another option that would eat up all your funds but which would be ideal is the ROK.:thumbsu:

I just posted this elsewhere, but would keen on some thoughts...

I have 5 trades left, but have my heart set on bringing Pendles for my 6th mid spot (replaces Dangerfield, Anthony to bench). Have Higgins (and M Brown as cover)...been thinking I'll just hang onto him, but the last few hours have been getting a bit panicky and thinikng about bringing in Buddy for him. My match this week is largely irrelevent, but am a bit nervous about playing Brown in finals. My team is as below...should I (with 4 trades left after the Pendles one) trade out Higgins. I could sit it out for a week, but then Buddy will more than likely increase huge this week. Bear in mind too that I'll only have about $162k left, so 1 of those trades will probably have to be a downgrade for funds???

B: Goddard, Fisher, Gilbee, Newman, Ellis, Broughton, Grimes (Cheney & Pestinko)
M: Ablett, Judd, Selwood, Dal Santo, Montagna, Pendlebury (Anthony & Muston)
R: Petrie, Tippett (Spencer & Jacobs)
F: Riewoldt, Leon Davis, SJ, ROK, Deledio, Roughead, Higgins (M Brown & Wright)

What's with the obsession of finishing top 4?

I would rather be 8th in my league with $ & 6 trades left than top with 1 or 2 trades left.

Top 4 gives double chance... 5th to 8th you lose, and your out.

Top 4 - week one of finals if you lose still in for week two. If you win you get the next week off.

Top 4 is worth at least 2-4 trades. If you have to use 2 or your 4 trades to make top 4, then just do it - you wont regret it!

Lol that is the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard. How is top 4 worth 2-4 trades? If your team is good enough it should breeze through the second round of finals anyway. Its no point having no trades come round 22 because it is a shocking week with player availability and you will get exposed.

This guy talks sense particulary as he is closer to the 50 grand than any of us

I still reckon finishing top 4 is an advantage compared to finishing 5-8th no matter how good you think your team is.

If you are in a competitive league then you may just happen to be unlucky first week of the finals and lose. I will use a recent example of what happened to me in one of my leagues.

Four weeks ago I lost to 6th and I was 1st (very competitive league) He won by 47 points and I was playing with a dounut (Cox) but still had 2-3 trades left but wanted to save them. He had a full team aswell.

The next week I was playing with 2 dounuts and the guy who beat me the week before still had a full team yet I bet his score by 46 points. Bloody typical I thought.

Double chance is worth its weight in gold IMO. I'm not talking overall rankings or anything as I am not doing bad myself in that (284) I am just speaking about league and finals.

Judd Magic double chance isnt worth anything if you are playing with donuts in the preliminary final. If you have wasted all your trades early going for top 4 then you don't understand how the game works. You can go undefeated throughout the year but if you cant field a team in the last two weeks its just a waste. I couldn't care about leagues honestly but its just common sense. Trades are worth their weight in gold...not top 4.

Please help.

Higgins -> Sidebottom and then Rich -> GAblett
Higgins -> Sidebottom and then Rich -> Swan
Higgins -> Milne and then Rich -> Montagna

I only have 2 trades left. Am in the finals for 2 out of 3 leagues and must win this week to get into the finals of the 3rd league.

Or should I keep my trades and take a chance in the 3rd week.

Even with no trades, I will have,
Houlihan and Rance on the bench in defence
L. Anthony and Dangerfield in the mids
And Dowler and Higgins on the bench

I think I need to get Higgins out either case, so should I use 1 trade now and save 1 .. or go the upgrade and chance it!? Thanks

Have 1 trade left but am tempted to use it this week as I'm fighting for a finals spot in two leagues

Am thinking of trading either Salopek or Cox out so I suppose the question is would you rather have:

Salopek (if he comes back)/Anthony as 6th mid and Jolly/Sandilands/Clark as 2nd ruck (McIntosh is the other ruck).
or
Sewell/Goodes/Pendlebury as 6th mid and White as 2nd ruck

Timely responses would be appreciated

This is a pretty easy call dude - you're much better off having a consistent ruck performer rather than White who could give you a 20 in the Grand Final.

Understand what you are saying from a certain point of view mate. I feel that both trades in hand and top four are both important and you can throw in decent bench cover to the mix aswell. ;)

Luck with injuries is the biggest factor though. If you have a gun team now and a couple of trades left and the SC Gods don't strike your players down with lightening then you are still in with a mighty chance to win your league GF. Sitting in the topb 4 increases your chances of course as teams that arent as good as yours can "fluke" a win over you when 9 times out of 10 you would beat them every other time.

Just my 5c worth. :D:thumbsu:

Currently have Grimes as an emergency defender, but Ballantyne as a 7th forward!

So I want to downgrade Grimes, then upgrade Taylor Walker (who is on the pine) to ROK......

but my question is who to downgrade Grimes to?

Clancee Pearce? Jayden Post? Michael Hurley?

Who will get more games, I need job security from whoever I bring in, incase of an injury to one of my starting 7 backs!

???????????????????????

Ended up doing something different with the Cox trade. Brought in Jason Blake. Seems to have ran into some form lately averaging 90 the last few weeks and his price $370 000 means I have a few more dollars up my sleeve for my remaining trades where I plan on upgrading Rich/Grimes or Broughton. Would have loved to have brought Mitch Clark in but as a Lions supporter I'm suprised he's still up and going considering the workload he's had to handle. Been very injury prone up until this year. Touch wood he keeps firing....

Traded Higgins out for Davis. Though Pavlich was real tempting....

I rate Hurley as the best option out of those three. I put him in a couple of weeks ago when adcock went down, and he provided cover for Grimes last week and will cover for Gilbert this week.

He is a high draft pick and seems a bit more experienced then Post at this stage of the year. Most importantly, he is listed HF this week, and with Lloyd out for 4 and a string of other injuries, his position should be secure and hopefully fruitful for the finals.

Just welcomed Scott Pendlebury into my squad, hope it doesn't come back to bite me as it could probably be considered a luxury trade. If nothing else, i just wanted to get my mids set and firing. Completed midfield now of:
Ablett, Judd, Selwood, Dal Santo, Montagna, Pendlebury.
