I find my happiness and/or sadness at how the team performs has little impact on the actual players, so I will continue to be happy and backslappy after an easy win.
Strangely enough I'm happy after any win . Even if we've played crap. And especially in the extremely rare occurrence where the umps gifted it to us.

Despite most people not being able to see it a fit Zorko off half back directing traffic could be the key that allows us to take the next step.

Today he showed he was adjusting to the role. Could take 3 or 4 weeks . Just hope he throws off this calf niggle.
He has all the attributes to be elite in the position.

bit too much self backslapping here. we were very lucky to win, their silly turnovers and terrible goal kicking we're the only reasons we won.

I'm happy /sad.
We were the better team for 3/4 of the game that is why we won it.

Negatives

  • Another poor start, need to come out V Norf next week and blow them away early.
  • Andrews looks way off his AA form
  • I still think we need some more depth through the midfield, yes we came back in Clearances, BUT got blown away early.
  • Adams ball use off HB.

Positives

  • Lachie......
  • I am loving the Fort/ Oscar combo, allowed Big O to get back and take some strong defensive marks.
  • Lugga 3 goals, hopefully over the goal kicking yips from last year.
  • Some areas of improvement to work on BUT 2-0 going into a home match against NORF setting up the season nicely.
  • Really been impressed with Answerth, seems quicker then I remember and seems really composed.

Really liked Answerth's game as well. Showing improvement.

Adams is like a rock . Elite player bar the disposal errors which actually aren't too far off . And at least he's trying to make the play , I'm hoping as the season wears on it gets better.

Yeh a chance to see the lions play in Melbourne after a year of Covid. Have missed footy so much. Up on level 3 amongst the mad booing bomber supporters who were going a bit nuts over Daniher. A wins a win despite us not playing well but any chance to see Neale when he’s on song is a privilege. Terrific to see the reception the players got at that end of the game by the Lion supporters below me on level 1 - lovely to see some of the players stop to have a photo and mingle for a bit.

You're kidding aren't you? they got within 2 goals in the final quarter......and that's an "easy win"?

We're meant to be a finals contender. For much of the game we were just hanging on.

Maybe we should be a bit more critical about our team and less fanboyish.

We won.

Be happy.

There are 22 rounds or whatever.

You can't be up every week. The aim is to win. How we do it is immaterial.

No one ever won a flag burying teams all through the H/A games.

90 points to 45 after quarter time, hardly just hanging in there.

When exactly was that? The closest I can see is 15 points - three straight kicks, not two. I can't say I felt like we were out of control at any point in the last quarter.

So... why exactly? It's not going to change what the team serves up next week.

You can feel free to. I don't mind if you choose to. I don't see the need to pretend that whether we're enthusiastic or moaning affects results in any particular fashion.

I'm happy we won, but we were very average against a very average team. How and why we were average is important. We escaped that's all.

I don’t really think early season form has that much bearing on finals so as long as we keep getting W’s we can ignore how flat we’ve been to start the year.

I can understand your concern but I’m backing in Daddy fages to have us cherry ripe for the end of the year.

Essendon were always going to come out hard in the first 1/4 especially after their piss poor effort last week.
For the Lions to be down by 22 points at the first break and then re-set and kick 12 goals to 4 in the next two quarters whilst breaking even in the last, is a bloody good effort!
Final margin is 22 points which equates to a 44 point or 7 goal plus change turnaround.
Yes, I’m very happy with the win too, fanboy or not
