I still see a very vanilla list that's severely lacking in talent.
And that's why we had to strip it back and show it for what it really is.

No point finishing 5th last for the next 5 year.

Expose the players we have to AFL footy and find out who shows something. Move on players who will not bring us a premiership.

I watch games muted, before half time when Impey looked like he marked it but was tackled immediately, was that called touched by an ump?

Our mids did well on the inside Day (11 contested, 7 clearances), Worpel (16 contested, 6 clearances) and Duke (9 contested, 5 clearances).

Mackenzie (3 clearances) and Nash (4 clearances) provided good support.

Not many more positives apart from Amon. Least the midfield is showing positive signs.

Need the whole team to show up especially with our ball use.

In the end of the day, these games are gonna happen this year. I was more dissapointed last week than I was this week, due to the quality of the opponent. Even though the GF result was rubbish, Sydney didn't finish second by luck last year. They're a good side. Our intent was a lot better, but our confidence and skill level was just dreadful.

Can't go into next week with no changes. Brockman, Scrimshaw and DGB should be in at least. Reeves, Kozi and Blanc dropped. We don't need to be playing 2 ruckman in the side at this stage. Nash can go in there when Meek needs a rest.

It's kind of cooked that our senior players are letting us down. Not the youngens.

Frost, Impey, Sicily and Breust had very poor games (especially the latter two for their standards). In fairness to Breust he was done no favours by the delivery.

  • Day will be OK. No trouble finding it. Poise. Just need to flatten the kicks
  • Angry Nash. Yeah, we got flogged, but he for one did not enjoy it. Yeah, MRO will probably roll snake-eyes, but I liked that he belted a few
  • I thought that Kosi was a bit better this week than last. Yes, really!
  • I'm onboard with team Greene, but he needs to convert those set shots. He coulda been 3-0 today.
  • That we had enough pride to pinch a few cheapies after South put the cue in the rack
  • Dyl Moore
  • Tougher day for cmac the younger, but both cmacs battled away the full match, trying things
  • Ward did some things too. Some kicks inside that weren't turned over.
  • Avoiding the ton
  • Bramble upfield

Their would be nothing worst then putting up with this through out the year only to get some junk wins to finish 4th-2nd, we need some talent that will take time to develop.

I am expecting wholesale changes to occur next week that really should have this week

What is the go with our set from opposition kick in’s, we seem to set up so deep that it invariably end up on a wing with in seconds of the kick in

Can we also consider that we dished out dozens of these losses to other teams over the past 15 years, as a fan base we really need to suck it up and accept that we're due our time at the bottom copping the odd one of these beltings. It's gonna be 2-3 years minimum of this, enjoy the little wins of the youth developing, the wheel will turn again eventually, just not in the short term

How do these kids improve / gain confidence after that? I’m all for the rebuild but that was just tough to watch. Love the Hawks, but my god the optimism for this year is just fading fast
Watch the tape and see how Sydney were able to pressure us better than we did them.

Watch how Sydney held structure better and kept their width, so they could attack in layers.

Watch how Sydney weren’t kicking off one step and panicking under pressure. Nor handballing on the up to a teammate’s ankles.

In essence, see what the opposition dished up and learn from that.

So you're saying poach all of the Sydney coaching staff?

Seriously can we ban people from posting about Harley Reid? We're not Carlton ffs, bloody embarrassing that our own fans are death riding us
You're right.

They have Curnow, McKay and Weitering.

Exactly what we need.

Oh and Harley Reid.

The glaring thing for me is our lack of players who can change the coarse of a piece of play with high level skill and knowhow.

Occasionally a Moore or Newk will do something good and it's glaring compared to most of the rest of what's going on.
Bog average skilled players are rife and it makes any game plan almost impossible to implement effectively.

SACK MITCHELL !!!!!!

Typical early rebuild game against a well drilled team .

Our midfield now looks decent , we just have no synergy through the lines at all .
Which in reality is no suprise although disappointing
Need to get these 40 games into the group in a hurry .

Day our best reckon he has a big game coming up ( 20 plus and 3 ), Worpel/ Newcombe good ( Worpel back in town ).
Meek looks a great value get as a ruck
Thought the young mids looked a bit flat .
Amon looks good think he will be even better once the side gels

Over to you Damian Barrett you big dosser .....

Just one of those days for a young team I think. Contagious fumbling and second guessing. We have some solid 23 year Olds and our young blokes were the better players again. There's blokes who can grow together.
Frosty isn't going to do it for us. Kozzie has no confidence or presence. Hopefully he can turn it around like Lewis did.
I'm not ready to toss my toys out of the cot just yet.
