Lets be real, guys. We're gonna get shat on all day on Sunday and will be lucky to keep it to under 100pts.

We just want to see some effort and structure.

What a horrific line-up, nothing inspiring in the slightest. MC must believe that it was just all down to a bad week and the wheel will turn......because you know, backing in the same old same old is what got us to this point.

Wasn't that the best team we had available last week?
So we've put the best team back on the park, arguably to help develop some (dare I say) 'synergy' in real time...who was the other team you wanted on?
This is the new reality, not the same old-same old...it's a new same old same old starting from last week, not the same old same old from last year?

I have to believe that Mini has faith in the gameplan, and he needs these blokes to learn it in a live-fire environment before he sees change.

However I dont know that I squad knows how to do anything other than concede clearances and kick up the wing.

Maybe it's bluster but Mini sounded quite confident in today's presser

Watch Hawthorn. Mitchell the innovator. Little Hardwick on Weitering. Just running him all over the place leaving Choi to do what he likes. Consider doing the same to Andrews

Kinda counter productive when what Chol likes to do is be a massive spud.

Injured best 22 - Yeo, Waterman, Hutchinson
Injured other - Chesser, Jamieson, Livingstone, Sheed

WAFL

Returning from injury - Bazzo
Next best available - Gross, Hall, J Williams, Brock
Developing - Barnett, Grego, Shanahan, Rawlinson, Champion, Davis.

Eleven available for WAFL plus likely two non travelling emergencies

Happy for anyone to make a case for anyone from the above that shifts the needle significantly

No one on our list is shifting the needle significantly in this game, if we get within 10 goals of Brisbane that’s a win. That’s not the issue.

There’s other outcomes of selection, such as (a) demonstrating to senior players that there’s consequences for horrible performances and (b) investing games into youngsters with an eye on the future.

Unless Allan makes the final cut, which i doubt, we’ve done neither of those things this week.

Other than the song, and the bloke in the box not having us much grey hair, definitely not really seeing much that’s new about this “new chapter” so far.
Wow, surprised to hear that from you? Although the 1st game was an undeniable disaster.
I'll happily concede the same if there's no obvious change or progress over next couple of games. Am expecting another belting, maybe by not as much, but wanting to see some game plan and structure and effort. Mini suggests the effort was there, but not how they wanted it..didn't want to go into it or reveal too much.

But you don't know what's gone on behind closed doors, what was said, what was done to help swing the performance around. So presume you're in the blame Kelly contingent, or Duggan, Gov, Cripps? Who's left in seniority to blame? and as Keys pointed out, who do you replace them with?
If this is an exact repeat of last week, we get whacked and all shape falls away, then carved up, then it's fair to say we have a problem?

It was McQualter’s first game as coach with what he considered was our best available 22 after a full preseason. With a handful of exceptions, the team collectively had a stinker which whilst not new for us would have been for him

The game has been reviewed heavily with McQualter sounding confident he’s identified the problem(s) and how they can be rectified

So he’s gone in with a similar 22 with only forced changes so far, presumably to give the team from last week the opportunity to redeem themselves. I’d suggest those senior players have done enough over summer to get that chance - what may or may not have happened in the past isn’t any of McQualter’s concern

We have 12 players with under 50 games (which admittedly includes Flynn who’s not young but it excludes Hough who’s played 54 games) so it’s not as if we’re not giving games to developing players

In short, I don’t think you throw away an entire preseason of evidence after one (very) poor game

I don’t know what’s gone on behind closed doors. But a refusal to make bold decisions at selection was a hallmark of Simpson’s time, we had a lot of thrashings and unacceptable performances over the last few years and players paying the price at selection was never a consequence. That trend certainly seems to be continuing.

Specifically, I can’t believe Flynn has survived that game. He may not be a “senior” player, per se, but he’s 27. I’d like to see us invest more time in Jack Williams in the ruck and let Archer Reid develop as a permanent forward.

And I thought Cripps was poor on the weekend, we’ve got a glut of players in his position and he was one that could have gotten the axe.

Kelly we don’t have much choice, there’s not a lot to replace him with in the middle currently. And Gov obviously isn’t going anywhere, he’s our reigning B&F.

I don’t want wholesale changes in the wake of that Suns game. But I’d like to see something other than just the forced changes.

Why the **** do you use so many question marks??????????????

Agree but I’ll go even further - we need to have even just a little bit of patience. Half the team has either SFA games or are fairly/very new to the Eagles.

But in this ‘I want it and I want it now’ world that isn’t tolerable to the impatient.

Remember: the Eagles are one of most successful clubs since 1987. On average we get things right more often than other clubs.
