Local player permit releases for this week. Just about our entire VFL senior list, minus Still...

Collingwood Beveridge, Kye
Collingwood Blair, Jack
Collingwood Borthwick, Gus
Collingwood Chippendale, Michael
Collingwood Close, Ash
Collingwood Collopy, Jordan
Collingwood Gray, Nicholas
Collingwood Hellier, Jack
Collingwood Hinkley, Dale
Collingwood Hore, Marty
Collingwood Howe, Lachlan
Collingwood Indovino, Adrian
Collingwood Kelly, Jordan
Collingwood La Fontaine, Matthew
Collingwood Lane, Campbell
Collingwood Mastromanno , Alessandro Rocco
Collingwood Pendlebury, Ryan
Collingwood Smith, Matthew
Collingwood Starcevich, Jackson
Collingwood Tahana, Stephen
Collingwood Tardrew, Lachlan
Collingwood Turner, Joshua
Collingwood Wallace, Lachlan
Collingwood Woodward, Alex

Good to see Jack Hellier seemingly fit to play football at the local level. Hopefully we see him back at some point.

Hopefully we don't see a repeat of last year's farcical scenes where we didn't hold enough VFL players back to play for us against Casey, which meant we went 2 players short from the start of the game and eventually ran out of rotations due to injuries. Dale Hinkley had to drive in from out in the 'burbs halfway through the third quarter...:drunk:

Also, Jackson Starcevich does still live! The potential for a guernsey in the 125th anniversary game at Vic Park is still on!

Anyone want to have a crack at an AFL bench and a carry-over emergency...?

Interchange: Goldsack, Crisp, Phillips, Greenwood

Emergencies: White, Ramsay, Dunn

Carry Over: White

White's been our 2nd best forward this season, would be truly bizarre and unfair to drop him ahead of Moore who has been woeful.
That may indeed be so,
But I suspect Moore will play and if the biggest fellow is selected I suspect White will make way before Moore.

I assume the logic is simply, Moore is the future with great upside, and he plays, White is more dispensable with no further upside than average contribution

How do you explain that to the playing group who are still trying their guts out to make finals?

"Sorry we dropped the better player because this other kid is younger"

I'm sure the experienced players will be thrilled the club has already indicated they've given up on the year and will go a youth policy.

White has averaged 1.25 goals and does far more around the ground than Moore who has contributed 0.25 goals in the same time... How can you possibly justify that decision if the club still is playing for finals?

How do you?
Don't need to.

Exhibit A: Darcy Moore

Exhibit B: Jesse White

I assume football (sports) clubs the world over have been moving aside medium to low level talent for the future talented players.

Sport like life isn't always fair

It's normally a move that happens once the season is over.

If the club thinnks our season is over after 5 rounds I suspect Buckley's time is already up

It's true, but kind of a sad indictment on our club at the moment, that I look more forward to VFL games then I do the seniors.

The VFL is just more interesting as far as our future goes.

There's at least 8 players running around tomorrow who are massively important to the future direction of our football club, no matter who our coaching staff/president/CEO may be in that future.

Daicos is the most obvious, but wow if Sam McLarty doesn't excite you as a Collingwood supporter then there's something wrong.

None of them are ready for senior footy (apart from De Goey and we all know the story there) but to see the early stages of careers that will expand long into the 2020's decade is just quite simply enjoyable to watch.

We may not even win tomorrow, in fact based on last week's output I'd say we won't (wouldn't have beaten Coburg without Wells, who won't be playing) but I'll be there watching a large chunk of our future best senior squad go around.

Here here Mattys123. Sam McLarty looks to be this years Jake Lever. An absolute beauty at pick 30 and something we desperately lacked. I'd be happy with his output if he was a top ten pick. Schade and McLarty puts us miles ahead of this time last year. We can focus on a KPF with our first pick in the upcoming draft.

I re watched the first quarter against Coburg and I have to admit, McLarty did some stuff that really made me sit up and take notice. I'm actually pretty intrigued to see where he ends up, because he's such a bloody good contested mark and good kick which is something we desperately need up forward. It will be interesting to see what happens at the draft this year, because if we can't get another KPF prospect with our first rounder I wouldn't be surprised to see us draft another key defender and swing McLarty up forward.

This!! White has been fricken good this year. Had a poor game last week but so did everyone (except Howe). I will be seriously disappointed if White is dropped... But then again, i'm always seriously disappointed when it comes to team selection.

Could be a Chance. Though McCarthy has shown some Nice Signs he could turn into a Descent KPF at AFL Level

I'm not expecting McCarthy to turn in to a KPF to be honest Dave. He'll hopefully become a decent mobile 3rd tall/relief ruck, a better version of Jesse White. If he becomes better than that it's a huge bonus.

Yeah. I do see him as someone who can Replace White in a season or 2. Though we have been just Playing White and Moore since RD 1

In a month or so I reckon they will switch McCarthy and McLarty to give each of them a go at the other end

McCarthy played bit back in the last Qtr last week when McClarty went off

Not sure the logic you present flows

I am in the same boat as you mattys123

I enjoy the VFL more than the seniors......trying to work out how I get to this game from my boys under 9s game tomorrow, because I don't want to miss it.

I also agree re McLarty he looks the goods!

Well with the State of the AFL Side. I can see why VFL at the Moment is more Exciting. You are Hopefully seeing the Kids that hopefully play a Big Part in our Next Premiership.

I been a Fan of McLarty since I watched him in the 1st Practice Game

The updated squad, now amended to reflect the named senior 25:

B: Jackson Ramsay, Lachlan Keeffe, Matthew Scharenberg
HB: Adam Oxley, Lynden Dunn, Ben Crocker
C: James Aish, Rupert Wills, Daniel Wells
HF: Jordan De Goey, Chris Mayne, Jarryd Blair
F: Josh Daicos, Jesse White, Callum Brown
Foll: Mason Cox, Josh Smith, Josh Thomas
Int (from): Sam McLarty, Liam Mackie, Max Lynch, Gus Borthwick, Lachlan Tardrew, Michael Chippendale, Alex Woodward, Jordan Collopy, Stephen Tahana, Jordan Kelly, Nick Gray, Lachlan Howe, Marty Hore

(Bold, of course, indicating the emergencies).

Josh Smith the pick for carry-over? I know who everyone would rather pick, but I'm talking about predicting what our illustrious coaching group will settle on...

This year's Jake Lever is our own Farty McLarty! We live and learn!
