Fixture has been kind

Also, we have the toughest last month of anyone according to Fox Footy

Things even out

Also, we've activated our sub in the first half of the first quarter in three of our last four games

What’s the point of Hunter’s classy skills if he can’t bench press?
I hear you but you know what - it’s competitive out there especially if you want to play midfield where you are going up every week against the elite of each team who can run and are powerful. The occasional promising game just doesnt cut it

He has some decent skills and is brave and his injuries have been horrific. But he lacks speed (as does most of our midfield) and doesnt seem strong given his body shape. I want him to succeed as a mid and the best way to do that is to work on your weaknesses in the off season. I want him to get off his backside and work with someone like Windy who dominated all the pre season stuff as a second year player.

Remember last year RTB in his commentary role was supercritical of Jaidyn Stephenson how he hadn’t built up his body despite what 5+ years in the system. He was spot on.

Couldn't have said it better myself. And a month? Try three xx
I liked the dees game, at least we looked like we gave a ****, also didnt hate the Richmond game.

Look at me looking for positives in losses, im one Higgo snap away from having a pull.

I think if youre gonna give Ross an out on the list because it wasnt his doing (which is completely fair) it is worth mentioning that he got kissed on the dick with the draw as well, which was also not his doing.

I dont think anyone is saying we havent seen some improvement, how much and how hard you are over it, your mileage might vary.

Seems completely reasonable to me.
I really cbf going through the nuisances of the fixture.

But if you are going to say he was kissed on the dick with it, then surely the injuries are recognised and that means his dick was effectively cut off and the nurse tried to kiss it back to health.

Unearthed some gems from those injuries that we likely never see either. Theres also elements of that that fall on the football department so call it a wash id say.

I stand to be corrected but do we not have the same record after 19 games that we did last year? If youre just gonna go off metrics then we havent improved at all.

If you wanna take other intangibles into consideration then weve had some luck and weve had some bad luck.

Overall, and try to focus on this bit cause its probably the most important, overall, i think just about everyone (including me and your buddy George ) are generally happy with the progress, were just clearly not AS happy as you are.

I tell ya watching the replay Billings had the most invisible 15-disposal game you'll ever see.

Obviously, he's had an interrupted year but I was really hoping for more when he came into the Ross system.

I really don't know why I keep falling for it with this bloke. For a guy who had so many early moments, 25 and 3 in his tenth game, 4.2 in that Western Bulldogs comeback and had 30 and 5 in his 50th game I just can't believe he hasn't turned into something more.

Was looking forward to seeing him under Ross too.

Unfortunately, I’m still looking for him.

I thought like Gresham he had a solid game and looked like an experienced player. He wasn’t winning any awards but he was good with his ball use. I’ve always thought he was one who can have a lot of possessions and you don’t remember one of them. A clean ball user who can distribute well is an okay start though.

The Suns, North , Hawks and Melb Yeah that's a tough month

Games this year

18 years old: Phillipou (19 games)
19 years old: Owens (18), Caminiti (16), Windhager (14), Peris (1)
20 years old: Wanganeen-Milera (19)
21 years old: Byrnes (18)
22 years old: Sharman (11), King (7)
23 years old: Stocker (18), Bytel (6)

I'm happy to count all of these 11 as "young" so that's pretty good amounts of experience pumped into these guys.

Yeah agreed I thought we were good against Melbourne. Richmond eh, we had a little bit of a bed shit. A shart, lets call it.

I'm pleased with the ladder placing but has the season been frustrating? Do we have areas to improve? Can we get any better than this? Absolutely.

It does give me a good laugh though - as if St.Kilda supporters are out there seething at us sitting 5th with a month of footy left 😂 It's as if calling out issues with our performance and discussing them must then mean you hate everything.

We are on BigFooty though so the response to genuine concern is not unexpected. At least it's a few rungs up from the pits of Facebook or Twitter - all thanks to me, of course.

Our fearless Grand Dragon.

How is the petition for a plain white bedsheet as the clash going by the way.

(****ing niche joke for the uninitiated)

Yep silver linings to everything - probably why I'm of the opinion that the list has actually improved. These guys who probably wouldn't have played if not for injury are showing that they can actually play.

And you are spot on with the last bit. This isn't American politics, we aren't vehemently for or against the club lol. Some like to discuss the poor performances whilst others don't. That's really it.

Has a brown tinge to it after the last few months unfortunately. Will need to give it a while before it comes out.

That metric is measured wrong if you are just going off wins. You can improve every year for 5 years and not change ladder spots because nothing is static. Others improve 20% to your 10% and you stay still.

There were 6 or 7 shit sides last year and a few ordinary ones. Adelaide, Gold Coast, Essendon, North, GWS, WCE and Hawks were all garbage. Port Adelaide were rubbish too. Even that tier we were in was a longer way off the top 4 than this year.

I'm not overly excited by our season because we are playing ugly boring footy but I can acknowledge the achievement. I thought that we could play finals if we had a good team performance and had most players available.

Instead we have had poor form, injury..... pestilence, plague, you name it....but we re still hanging in there. We had games where Butler was our only experienced forward and Seb Ross was missing and had more holes in our midfield than good players. There is a sense of pride and disgust at the same time. Last year a couple of 3 week injuries to Steele and Gresham and the whole season fell over.

The coaching has definitely improved in that regard and playing the kids will have lasting benefits. Just a shame that there is real potential that we miss another lot of finals after a good start again.

I love you like a brother Gringo, you know that, a little special needs brother but youve missed the point here.

Or i have... who even knows anymore.

I think he means the one coming up. Carlton, Richmond, Geelong and Brisbane in Queensland. All going for spots in the 8. Richmond is the weakest link and they are always good at holding their nerve when finals are on the cards. Potentially need 2 wins even. It might need some more luck to fall our way.

And you completely discredit the job that’s been done - you do realise that right?

It’s not about the same W/L’s. It never has been.

It has been achieved however with less talent on the park compared to his predecessor. It’s been achieved playing a core group of 20 year olds that represent a bottom 6 side not a top 8.

You and your best mate conveniently skip over the fact that what Ross has achieved thus far is beyond what was achieved under Ratten - as it was done with considerably less senior talent on the park.

We played some utter shit football last year. But there was never a word about how it aesthetically looked. The fact it’s brought up now like it was some part of the remit on his appointment is odd.

Ultimately, the part you need to focus on is that you can credit RTB and it won’t stain your belief on process. You don’t have to be hurt that whilst we found a few Players, we also have missed substantially better players (today - not in 2026) - that the actual job the coach has done with the tools at his disposal has been brilliant
